When I look at a player like Delap, I see a different type of striker. Yeah? A classic big man, not as big as Jan Koller, not as effective as a Klose or Vieri, but a target man. The Premier league is littered with players like Big dunc, Mateta, etc, We bought one from Arsenal in Giroud. Over the years, these players have been invaluable to their clubs and provide a different avenue of attack, ie going long or whipping in crosses or bypassing midfield. that's where I see Delap mate... And these type of players usually get better as they age. that's why I have no issues keeping and nurturing a plan b for us. Even with the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian, we needed Giroud to provide a platform. Before him it was Drogba, remember Jose signing him as a pensioner because of what he gave us in the box etc..

Delap will have an absolute fine Premier League career, be it with another club or us. He also hasnt agitated for a move away.

Sorry but this is nonsense with no basis for optimism. Delap came in with full backing and patience from the fans so he didn't even have that kind of pressure to deal with. Any bit of talent and he could've easily gone under the radar.

You've got to be a special type of rubbish to expose yourself as a fraud to the fans and rival fans the way he has done. Pound for pound one of the worst players I've ever seen for Chelsea. I would sell him before I sell Badishile and that speaks volumes.

But then if you believe the football media reports a number of EPL clubs are name checked as being interested in Delap, but zero clubs were interested in Jackson at the end of last season.

I don't remember Jackson coming into games with the only intention of injuring the opposition.

He was stupid, but he always tried to help. Delap is a violent thug with next to no upside.

Lets see if Delap gets a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

Have to admit that was ok with the signing when we made it, 30m seemed worth a punt on a striker who seemed to be viewed as decent squad addition and to give something different up front when needed, however have been massively underwhelmed at what seen to far.

Seems to collect yellow cards like I used to collect panini stickers, just seems to run onto the pitch with the sole aim of bashing into as many opposition players as possible.

Its not even the so called "dark arts" no controlled aggression or "subtlety about what he does, almost telegraphs his actions to the point where you know exactly what he's going to do before he does it. Just brainless - I reckon if Liam Delap was a burglar and robbed a hotel he'd probably sign the guest book.

Delap to Everton rumours today. I thought Delap might have been better. He is not.

Delap will be quality at a team like Everton, Palace, Newcastle etc, but right now he just isn't ready to be at a team like Chelsea.

Watch him move and bang a load in for Everton, We should be thanking Moyes for adding a few million onto George's price tag, was starting to look a prospect on loan and made more minutes from the subs bench than he did with us last season.

He'll get goals. of course he will. Everton relies on a "big man" under Moyes. See how he got Beto playing last season. Not prolific but instrumental in how they play. Needs cover for him, Delap will be that. Good luck to the lad if and when he moves, i expect the usual goal/hatrick to be scored against us at the bridge. I was over the moon with this transfer when it was announced, had all the attributes at Ipswich and I genuinely thought we were getting a Costa regen.

The closest comparison I can think of is Lakaka. He’ll be sh*te at any big club (Chels, Utd) but probably tear it up at a minnow (West Brom, Everton)

Transfer is best for all involved, we could even through in a free choice of Frog CB’s to sweeten any deal.
