When you billions to spend, the scouting should be easy. Our targers should be thesame as all the other big clubs, the sporting directors should be good at selli g our vision over our rivals, which is how things were but somewhere along the way, players that accept low wages has become the most decisive factor in whether we can sign them or not. We are no longer looking to build a winning team. There is no coming back from this. It would need an admission of failure, which none of these billionairs will be willing to do.For the level of player they are signing, the wages being offered are astronomical, which is probably the only reason the players are "buying into" the vision and the project.
March 17Mar 17 He’s out of his depth. Terrible, terrible tactics and the players are definitely regressing. Can we now say that his first few wins were down to the Maresca hangover? Even though Maresca was sh*t, LR is truly awful.

We dont compete for the ones who want big club money. So yeah £150k for Gittens is huge, but we wouldnt pay £250k for Olise.

I doubt we will do any better than that under Clearlake.
March 17Mar 17 All Luis Enrique wanted was a say in transfers and better wingers than Madueke and Mudryk. Thats it. But no. He wasn’t “right for the job” yet Rosenior and every bellend before him apparently were.

March 18Mar 18 It was obvious from the start that he was unqualified for a job at the top level. He's never been in a spotlight this big so his weak mentality, poor tactics and poor coaching never faced this level of scrutiny
March 18Mar 18 this defeat will hurt the team psychologically.. the coach sh*ts his pants against every big team.. Maresca was the exact opposite i used to feel more confident against big teams than the small ones.. We are not a UCL level club.. we overrate our players.. Sanchez is not a top 6 keeper.. none of the CBs are, James and CC are top 4 fullbacks... Caicedo, enzo, palmer, Pedro are top 4 players but thats it.. we have to realise we have a very poor squad .. neto, garnacho are rotation level players, gittens, delaps, hato etc should be treated like youngsters who are still breaking through.. gusto is not top 6 quality, why are we surprised.. we got what we dserved.

March 18Mar 18 He is f**king dreadful. Graham Potter with an MBA. Should leave now before he catches Eghbali's erectile dysfunction.

March 18Mar 18 Don't think there is anyone who really thought he was going to survive past this season. Probably he was not either, but took this as an oportunity to come back to the Premier League.I have a feeling that our board's obsession with youth/Brighton will inevitably lead to Hurzeler being one of the names soon rumoured to be one of the leading candidates to the Chelsea managerial job. And I can see Rosenior replacing him at Brighton. Or taking over at Palace. Or even Spurs or West Ham, whoever of these two manages to avoid relegation. If it is Gary O'Neil coming here, I am done.
March 18Mar 18 If you ever wanted a snapshot of how far standards have fallen at this club, Abramovich's emergency manager was Guus Hiddink while Clearlake's is Gary O'Neil.
March 18Mar 18 To be fair, at the start of the season, if someone said this is the Chelsea Manager, most would have asked Liam who. He has got some positive results since he too over, but the two CL ties just showed he's not at the level of managing a CL level club. Again, maybe we aren't a CL level club no more.
March 18Mar 18 Will probably need to win at least 5 if not 6 of the last 8 PL games to have any chance of CL qualification.A lot will hinge on whether English clubs stay ahead of the pack in the UEFA points table, to secure that 5th placed qualification spot. https://www.uefa.com/nationalassociations/uefarankings/country/seasons/?year=2026Us and City going out last night won't help. Expect them to be joined by Tottenham and Newcastle tonight, and maybe even Liverpool. We'll have to hope the German and Spanish clubs don't do deep in the various comps, but even then we will still need to win a lot of games that look difficult ...
March 18Mar 18 Next manager looks like Gary ONeil or Fabian Hurzeler. The up and coming seasoned managers seem to be not the right fit for Blue co, neither do the big name managers. Were any of the touted candidates seriously considered along with Rosenior in January?Gary ONeil looks like an obvious choice, in fact slightly better pedigree than Rosenior and already installed in the feeder club, StrasbourgHurzeler has been in place a while seemingly doing an ok / good job plus has the Brighton link which the SDs are comfortable with.I cant see beyond these two.- a further plus for ONeil is that he can hardly turn the job down (like Rosenior) and as such the SDs avoid any nasty rejections which could openly question their strategy. If you believe what they leak to journalists Filipe Luis made it on their “two man shortlist”. He’s just been sacked so would be cheap. Unproven at this level but he’s had success in Brazil and ex player so would be somewhat interesting.
