I've never perceived a lack of effort (I include Jackson in that). Surely we can comment on their shortcomings without resorting to abuse.

We are a completely different team when we play with tempo. We used to say Meresca should take the handbrake off, hope we don’t sit back and f**k around with it second half.

Villa do also have another realistic path into Champions League via Europa. As the season goes on they may have to weigh up priorities.
