Rule change last season, if maguires shot goes in direct then it doesn’t count, because it was heading towards the corner flag and deflected in it counts, im sure we had one last season

Reports that Tottenham are looking at Cristian Pulisic from Milan. I checked the more reliable Italian outlets, the only mention is re-reporting the English reports. Anyway, he wasn't up to the physicality last time and time hasn't strengthened him any.

That is the correct law, but it was incorrectly applied in this case. That's the law for accidental handball. But they failed to give any attention to Maguire's handball, which came about after he moved his hands towards the ball. They were not in what refs normally consider in a natural position by his side, so the ref and VAR should not have ruled it to be accidental.

Still, it was Old Trafford aka Howard Webb's home ground, where dodgy refereeing interpretations are routine.

No your wrong, Gallagher confirmed it was the correct decision on Sky this morning, im not saying its right but it is the rule, there was another incident last season (i can’t remember the game), and to say Maguire moved his hand towards the ball is wrong, just because its Man United shouldn’t change the rule

I fail to see how Maguires handballs ( it touched both hands/arms ! ) is deemed accidental, other than by making allowances for the fact he's a clumsy, thick as mince oaf.

That aside, it seems a ridiculous law regardless of who benefits from it and what with that, the penalty and the attempted goal line clearance Ipswich were sh!t out of luck in that game.

As the ball comes towards him he lifts his hands up, instigating the contact. It was more hand to ball than ball to hand. If his arms were by his side he could have chested it. It's not like the ball was slammed into him. If a defender does that in the box that's a penalty.

Dermot Gallagher on Refwatch agreeing with the ref and VAR is entirely predictable.
