That was pretty sh*t, even for a pre-season game.

Same issues being carried over by the same players…sideways backwards at the back, forwards clueless up front against defensive team, a tough task for Alonso but I am seeing some hope and don’t forget this is a mish mash of players of different levels, ages and experience and we got beat by a worldly today so I’m not too disappointed.

The worst part about that match was that I saw next to nothing when it comes to Alonso putting his ideas across to the team.

Exactly this. Same rubbish we’ve seen the past few years. No excuses either as the team bar maybe 3 was the strongest we could have put out.

If it's all about conditioning we shouldn't have to travel half way across the world to do it .. But the reason we do that is undoubtedly for the money .

I used to think that was the case but as well as the 11 on the pitch we apparently had a further 21 players on the bench at kick off and I have heard we have as many as 46 players over there ( or maybe that's staff in total ? ) The cost of this travelling circus must be off the scale.

Definitely need another midfielder Essugo isn’t cut out for the level required, Lavia is a liability with injury’s, we are one Caicedo/Enzo injury/red card away from 36 year old Henderson starting.

That's true mate, it doesn't seem to make financial sense, which is an unusual thing for our owners ! Perhaps it's for commercial reasons? Who knows, we're lucky not to have any serious injuries so far what with the state of the pitches.

I actually think we are in worst place now with regards to squad size than we were with Potter, and that's saying something.

If we are gonna play Essugo would have kept Santos personally, - had a years experience in the Prem under his belt to build on.

Big clubs are paid a shedload for these tours as in up to a couple of million a match. That's why they happen.

Thought we show glimpses in the first half decent down the wings, particularly the right but without turning that into clear cut chances, thought second half was just drab, even more so after the 6 or so substitutions after which Estavao only the real sign of any creativity. Didn't really get the Delap/Satpaev/Jackson set up, guessing just putting minutes in legs.

1 or 2 passes and they were through our midfield. This is without Enzo too.

Same thing struck me. Like against Spurs.

I think we will start to see an exodus of sales and a few loans in the next couple of weeks together with the youngsters returning to Cobham and never to be seen again. Really need to get shot of Delap, Jackson, Jorgensen, Disasi, Tosin, Gusto, Guiu for starters and possibly Enzo, Neto, Forfana, loans for Hato, Josh, Sarr, Anselmino, Satpayev. Even with my suggested outgoings by the time everyone is back the squad will still be bloated for a team playing one game a week.

We've actually got a 2nd round Caraboa Cup game in-between our first PL game and second PL game.. We have to be careful with this one, it'll be an embarrassment if we get knocked out in August. . Plus, it would be a real boost if we win the trophy..

Dreading getting Millwall or West Ham.

Pompey are taking 9,000 to West Ham in their tie , should be lively !

On holiday just now so not managed to watch all the preseason games. Caught between 50% and 75% of most games. Aa always they are largely meaningless however quietly impressed by the young lad Nicoll-Jazuli

Yes, can't believe he's only 16 , very impressive

I appreciate Rogers, but holy f**k how was he a priority over a DM

Yup. As many have said for a while Caicedo needs help.

A season with 1, or 2, of Lavia, Barco, Enzo or Essugo with him is a season where our midfield is ripped about by even mid table clubs again....
