October 27, 201510 yr If rumors are to be believed that Arsenal are planning to bring Vierra into their coaching squad maybe we can think of doing the same with Drogba once he decides to hang his boots. Besides LVG is already doing it with Ryan Giggs. Agree completely. I can see it happening because he loves the club and is very close to Roman. I think Roman even attended his wedding and lent him his yacht.
October 30, 201510 yr Another Hat Trick for The Great DD. Not even out of the first half. The MLS defenses will make The Great DD fat w/ all of the goals he is scoring
October 30, 201510 yr sorry...The Great DD only scored the 3rd Goal for Montreal in the First half....You can virtual slap me
October 30, 201510 yr Pretty good game from the Impact overall and it really showed that the team was missing a real striker to produce. Drogba filled and exceeded the legacy that Di Vaio left. However, Drogba is bringing Montreal to another level on the business and support side of things as well. Which is really good for the Impact, the city and football in Canada as a whole. Sad to see Michael Bradley and Giovinco being out so quickly, both players carried Toronto this year. Too bad that only this year did Toronto's management decide to do intelligent investments to produce.
October 30, 201510 yr Didier scored another good goal again. That's his 12th goal in 12th games. Amazing stuff. https://youtu.be/lQuxWrm_K-g
November 10, 201510 yr Rumors are abound that Drogba could be returning here to help boost morale in the dressing room until the new MLS season starts in January (he could even be allowed to play for us if Montreal allow it). While I'd (obviously) be happy to see the big man return, I can't help but think that, if true, the whole thing stinks of desperation.
November 10, 201510 yr Believe he would of great benifit morale wise in dressing room & around trainging pitch only.
November 10, 201510 yr His leadership qualities are sorely missed by the squad. We need guys like him with a strong personality to give a kick up the arse of most of our players right now.
November 10, 201510 yr Seems like a backward step if it's as a player, but if he wants to come and coach, that's fine.
November 10, 201510 yr Drogba should form a super group with Zola, Lampard and Di Matteo. Didier has all the charisma of a proper front man. Frank should be on drums, quietly organising from just behind.Franco the magician on lead guitar. Robbie the quiet one on bass laying down some funky moves.
November 13, 201510 yr Some interesting extracts from Didier's new autobiography. On AVB's time as our manager: "That's his right [to get rid of the "Old Guard"], because the club needed to keep moving forwards, but he shouldn't have kept those players at the club while he was trying to make his revolution. Although we weren't going around complaining, it had an impact on the rest of the squad if we weren't happy." "Andre's mistake was to think that it was going to be easy — that we just had to do things his way and we would win. You have to be able to listen [to experienced individuals] and communicate with them. Otherwise, if you manage a team like Chelsea, you're heading for a fall." On Jose: "Things often come in three-year cycles - we'd arrived at the end of such a cycle [in 2007]. By the start of the fourth season that Jose had been in charge, I think we had started to reach a point where it was harder for his message to get through." "We wanted to hear it, we tried but somehow we had lost a little bit of what made us special." -- "One of his many qualities is that he brings a winning mentality to all the teams he manages. Once you know how to do it, you never forget, it stays with you for ever. And that is what he does with his players, at whichever club he is at." “The majority of coaches when they arrive at a new club, they will say, “I’ll try to win but it will be difficult.’ Jose says, ‘I’m here to win.’" "That rubs off on his players.” Signs of the three-year cycle thing can be observed this season. I do hope we can turn this around soon though. Edited November 13, 201510 yr by Zinc
November 19, 201510 yr Some new and interesting extracts from Didier's new autobiography. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3323802/Chelsea-s-dressing-room-secrets-revealed-Didier-Drogba-Tactics-chosen-Jose-Bosingwa-Phil-Scolari-tried-oust-didn-t-recognise-John-Terry.html Munich mind-games So, Chelsea had made it to European football's showpiece occasion – but after another staunch defensive performance they trailed 1-0 in the 83rd minute against Bayern Munich to Thomas Muller's goal. Drogba would go on to net the 88th-minute equaliser before scoring the decisive penalty in the shootout – but the Chelsea talisman was already convinced the game was up for his side until team-mate Juan Mata stepped in. He says: 'As I replaced the ball on the centre spot for the re-start, I was just saying "No, no, no!" But Juan Mata, all of 24 years old, was the one to urge me on. "No, Didier", he said, "you have to believe, you have to believe".' As Mata lined up the corner from which Drogba would head in the late leveller, the striker could hear centre back David Luiz telling Bastian Schweinsteiger, now of Manchester United: 'Just watch, we're going to score now,' before he fulfilled his colleague's prophecy. More psychological toying was at work when Arjen Robben missed a penalty that could have decided the game in extra-time. Drogba and Lampard told their former team-mate: 'Arjen, you're a Chelsea player, you can't do this! Don't do it! Anyway, we'll know where you're going to shoot.' It worked. Drogba says: 'We got inside his head, definitely, because his kick was weak – definitely weaker than it would normally have been – and Petr saved it.' Oh, Mata, you'll always bleed blue. I'll never forget that corner kick he took to set up our equaliser. Loved what Didier, Frank and Luiz did by the way. It might seem insignificant at first, but it somehow contributed to our victory. The belief and passion shown by our players that night were amazing, these attributes are almost non-existent in some of our players right now. Torres's struggles Fernando Torres is still widely regarded as English football's most expensive flop after he finally left Chelsea for a nominal fee last season, four years on from his £50m move from Liverpool. Drogba, who was often a direct competitor of the Spaniard, sympathises with the pressure of expectations placed on Torres' shoulders – but also says it was difficult for him to make the step up at Stamford Bridge. In words that might rile a few fans at Anfield, the striker writes: 'With all due respect to Liverpool, at that club, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres had been the kings. At Chelsea, there were 22 kings.' Just for laughs. Edited November 19, 201510 yr by Zinc
November 19, 201510 yr There was a thread on here talking about how Jose Boswingwa ruined the CL celebrations, as he was the one front and centre in all the photos when it perhaps should have been JT/Frank etc.. but it has been archived.Anyway, in Drogba's book he talks about how Boswingwa lead the defense in the second leg against Barca when we needed a reshuffle at the back."The manager was telling Branislav Ivanovic to play centre back but Jose Bosingwa said, 'No, no, I will play centre back', and carried on to say where he thought others should play. Just for a laugh.. perhaps the team really felt this and thought, get Boswingwa front an centre.. it was leadership that got us through!Edit: That quote was pulled from Drogba's book if anyone was wondering the relevance Edited November 19, 201510 yr by Van Butsen
November 19, 201510 yr "The guy who single-handedly convinced me to stay was Frank Lampard," he said. "One day, just after the World Cup, I was having a short family holiday in Marrakesh when I received a text message from him. "Strange, because I didn't remember ever having been texted by him during the entire two seasons I'd already been at Chelsea. I looked at the message, and I remember it to this day: 'Hi DD, I hope that you're staying, because we have to win the league together, and we have to win the Champions League together!' "I just stared at the phone. Frank wasn't the sort to talk a lot. He's really calm. He's a leader, but he leads more by his goals, by what he does on the pitch, not by words. Along with JT, he was the boss of the team." He added: "For me, receiving that text was really powerful. It was proof that I was wanted -- not that the team or the club didn't want me before, but I needed someone to tell someone." As if Lamps needed to be MORE important

November 21, 201510 yr I miss the mid 2000's Chelsea, so much balls and work rate It's a feeling of not appreciating what you had until it's gone! That era will always be special for mine.
