June 22, 201511 yr We've just watched Rush on tv, what a good film. It brought back so many memories, I miss watching F1 as I stopped when the sport became so computerised. We watched this as well, very good film.
June 22, 201511 yr Nightcrawler. Really odd concept for a film but worked really well, Jake Gyllenhaal is superb in the lead as a guy who stumbles into a career of crime journalism and attempting to capture footage of crimes and their aftermath to sell to TV networks. Pretty grim insight into the work those that pursue news footage. I thought it was excellent. Was so gripped throughout, really made me rate Gyllenhaal a lot more, since before I would have said he was "an ok actor" . 9/10 Jurassic World: silly but fun and great escapism Definitely see it on the big screen. 7/10.
June 23, 201511 yr I have seen this film a million times but it never gets old. Helps me get to sleep, oddly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCx2JQ0tVMI
June 23, 201511 yr Went to see Jurassic World last night. Too much fan service towards the original for my liking, recreating moments shot for shot... I might as well watch the original. Thought the whole training dinosaurs was a bit stupid personally. Somehow the woman manages to spend the entire 2nd half of the film running away from super fast dinosaurs whilst wearing stiletto heels the entire time. Hybrid dinosaur... Meh.

I thought is started off with good ideas but as you said about the raptors , it was just plain silly. Dare I say too many dinosaurs too, the first one worked cos it built up suspense, and what happened to all the flying dinosaurs?

June 23, 201511 yr Went to see Far From the Madding Crowd tonight. Enjoyed it but all of us (all women) agreed the film would have been only 10 minutes long if she'd chosen the obvious guy from the off - we all would have!!
June 24, 201511 yr I have seen this film a million times but it never gets old. Helps me get to sleep, oddly. What a coincidence. I too find that I doze off just a few minutes after watching Susannah York strut around in just a shirt & panties. I'm sure Billy Bragg does as well.

Enjoyed it but all of us (all women) agreed the film would have been only 10 minutes long if she'd chosen the obvious guy from the off - we all would have!! Looking forward but with some trepidation to seeing the re-make. The original of course was such a great british film.
June 24, 201511 yr Looking forward but with some trepidation to seeing the re-make. The original of course was such a great british film. I'm not sure how it happened, but I have failed to see the original nor have I read the book so can't help with an opinion. But my friend who adores literature felt the same as you and particularly didn't think she could ever think of anyone other than Alan Bates as Gabriel Oak but she really enjoyed the remake. And believe me, she is a difficult woman to please when it comes to literature and films!

June 24, 201511 yr I feared the same, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautifully shot. Especially Matthias Schoenaerts.
June 24, 201511 yr Especially Matthias Schoenaerts. Ha! There was one thing from the book I wished was attended to, but that's just me. As a film of a book I wasn't disappointed. You must see the other film BQ.

I've seen a few people mention the training of the raptors as being stupid. I don't see how that's such a shock to people, we have domesticated many animals throughout history, there's documentaries of lions and tigers being domesticated to an extent. I did notice the high heels though, kept saying to my mate 'why won't she just take the bloody things off!!'
June 24, 201511 yr Insidious 3. Not a patch on the first 2 but not a surprise since James Waan isn’t involved this time. Seems daft the girl in it would stay in the same room and try to sleep after everything that’s happened to her!

June 24, 201511 yr It just felt so forced, it was such a weird plot device to throw in. But can't say I agree with the comparison of lions and tigers to prehistoric dinosaurs. Well the comparison is that neither would naturally be friendly towards humans when hungry, but with them being raised by a human (Chris Pratt) with love and respect, they feel that towards their trainer, it's possible to domesticate most animals, obiviously with dinosaurs we'll never know but I get what you're saying. I just don't think it was as ludicrous as many people made out that it was. I'm not saying I was a huge fan of it but I thought it added a something a bit different to the film & helped towards the amazing ending. We'll need to agree to disagree obviously, I thought it was a really good film. Edited June 24, 201511 yr by EdinburghBlue

I think the part that got me with the Raptors, was them running alongside Chris Pratt on his motorbike like a pack of Dogs at his command, the film lost me a bit at that point.

June 24, 201511 yr I have seen this film a million times but it never gets old. Helps me get to sleep, oddly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCx2JQ0tVMI Have watched the film loads of times as well. A great film. Was at the Biggin Hill Air Show about ten days ago and a number of Spitfires and Hurricanes flew over. Very poignant as it is the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain this year and Biggin Hill was one of the key airfields in that conflict.
June 25, 201511 yr I thought is started off with good ideas but as you said about the raptors , it was just plain silly. Dare I say too many dinosaurs too, the first one worked cos it built up suspense, and what happened to all the flying dinosaurs? Got to say I was quite disappointed with Jurassic World. I went to see it for the nostalgia, as a 5 year old I absolutely loved the first one as well as Dinosaurs on a general level too growing up. Overall I just thought the film was too similar to the others, too formulaic. I saw a review refer to it as a chaotic 'creature feature' which I thought was pretty accurate. Aside from a few cool and quirky nuances here and there the plot was essentially the same as before, with rubbish acting and no real character development at all. Of course the CGI is terrific, and the sounds in the Cinema were too, but this time I was expecting something a little more creative and considered. I also hated the subjugation of the Velociraptors as it's clear where the story of the future sequels are going to go. Edited June 25, 201511 yr by Celery1989
June 26, 201511 yr Finally watched It Follows, I don't get what all the fuss was about. It clearly pays fan service to Halloween in parts and I even think a little bit of A Nightmare on Elm Street too but it was a very bland film overall. I couldn't get into the idea of it either which really didn't help, I just kept trying to get my head around it. The ending was by far the worst part of the film aswell, it just ends abruptly. I love horror and was so looking forward to this, very disappointed. Overall I'd give it a 6/10
