May 24, 201511 yr Hard to see how we can improve the squad...we can obviously but I think it is a tweak-job instead of anything bigger. Zouma takes over Cahill...at midfield RLC takes over Mikel...Cuadrado steps up and challenges Willian..Oscar is more consistent and he can easily make team of the season. Needing time to adapt to a new league is one thing, but he's looked so fundamentally bad that I don't think he's good enough for us, plain and simple. Hope we cut our losses and bring in someone new. Sterling would be an excellent addition if we could get him at a good price. Milner on a free would be a coup as well, although I can't really see him joining us if he leaves Man City. Hopefully RLC will get his handful of starts next year, but I still think we need some extra quality in midfield. Neither Matic nor Fabregas have been at their best for long spells of this calendar year, still their places are cemented in the starting XI. Think we need someone to give them more of a challenge. From what I've seen of Imbula (which isn't that much tbh), he looks to be a player who could come in and give them more of a challenge for the starting spots. He could also be an extra body in midfield against better opposition, as I'm not sure Mourinho will trust RLC in those games yet. Can't see Cech staying for another year like the one he's had, so we'd need to bring in a back-up goalkeeper as well. Edited May 24, 201511 yr by Anders
May 24, 201511 yr Imbula is a good shout. I hope Bamford will be part of things next season but I think we need a back up no10 (unless it becomes a Cesc or Oscar scenario) Back up Gk and someone to replace Schurrle (finally) then I'm happy
May 25, 201511 yr Apparently we've contacted Avram Grant (Black Stars coach) in an attempt to sound out Augsburg left back Baba Rahman. No mention of cost and rumour comes from the Daily Star but I could see this as a similar deal to Dave. Totally under the radar. Anyone watch Augsburg regularly enough to offer an opinion on his quality? Looks decent on YouTube (they always do!) With a decent cross
May 25, 201511 yr Expensive. 15-20m figures I saw a while back. Real Madrid also interested. Highly rated apparently.

I disagree even though I can see what you are trying to say, Ivanovic is a liability in big games and susceptible to pace running behind him. Most teams targeted our right hand side after the Xmas period, and I don't think we will get away with it in Europe against the Big 3. We have a fix in Luis but I just don't Jose will ever switch Azpi to the right and drop Ivanovic. I feel we still need a Schneiderlin type player who is comfortable playing next to either Fabregas when Matic is injured/rested, and can also play next to Matic when Fabregas is moved further forward. RLC needs games but I doubt Jose will start him in the big games if the need arises, and my worry with RLC is Jose converts him into a DM ala Mikel which he is not. We also need another dimension to our game because whenever Hazard is off his game, we become very flat. For all Willian's industry and too an extent Oscar's, they will never win you games on their own.

May 26, 201511 yr Telegraph going with the story that Falcao is "desperate" to join Chelsea and will take a wage cut in order to do so. Falcao and Mourinho share the same agent in Mendes. Nope, still not having it.

Nope, still not having it. It would have to be a hell of wage cut if he was to come as 3rd choice striker. There's no way he should earn more than remy. Would much rather us go for lacazette or benteke.
May 26, 201511 yr He would need to take more than a 60% wage cut for us to even consider him. That aint going to happen and I for one am glad. Guys finished just like Torres was when he joined.
May 26, 201511 yr I don't know how Falcao can be our target. We all could see that he's a dead horse already, he had his chance to join us before and he went for the money. The guy is already 29, I don't believe he can change in our team.
May 26, 201511 yr Benzema might be available, Probably on huge wages but would be a good option since there's such a dearth of available quality strikers of late. I'd have loved to have seen the Falcao of 3-4 years ago but that knee injury has just killed his game.
May 26, 201511 yr Benteke is a good shout, still young, proven in the league, consistent goalscorer. My only problem is, isn't he a bit injury prone? We already have question marks concerning Costa and Remy.
May 26, 201511 yr Falcao – Please, just no. From what I’ve seen Falcao doesn’t look like a PL striker at all, I don’t think he can handle the physicality of English Football. He also reminds me a lot of Torres in that his injuries have robbed him of the electric pace and movement that he once had. In fact, it looks as though he just can’t physically carry out what his brain tells him to do, just like Torres who would constantly stumble over the ball, misplace passes, shots etc etc. I don’t care how great a paycut he’s willing to take, I would much rather Bamford were the no.3 striker, or that we were to sign a physical type of forward to replace Drogba. We don’t need a quick striker that likes to run in behind, we already have that in Loic Remy.
May 26, 201511 yr Costa, Benteke and Remy would be perfect, but this won't happen as they would want regular game time and probably fancy themselves (rightly) as first choice strikers or immediate second choice at least. Benteke would be like for like swap for Costa, while Remy could offer the slightly different pacier option. The one thing is Remy can play wide, so if he gets a fair share of games in a wider role as well as through the middle, it miiiiight just work. Highly, highly unlikely though.
May 26, 201511 yr I think we might find it hard to strengthen in the summer. Who is out there that we can realistically buy, who would be world class?
May 26, 201511 yr I think we might find it hard to strengthen in the summer. Who is out there that we can realistically buy, who would be world class? Greizman is the only one who I think would realistically improve our first 11 from those available. Pogba, Bale and the rest are a pipe dream.
May 26, 201511 yr Falcao maybe a possibility. I don't think we can rule it out, if there is no striking options out there worth spending 25+ million on then having an experienced striker on loan for a season may not be such a bad option. I don't think Bamford will be our 3rd striker and I don't think Jose will be satisfied with Remy as a back up. If he takes a big cut and there is nothing else out there I don't see it as that bad of an option.
May 26, 201511 yr Well he's been pants for United, struggled since a serious injury, is pushing 30 and even taking half a wage cut he'd still be one of our highest earners. I can't see it and I don't want to see it.

It would be a complete waste of time, the guy is finished. 4 goals for United this season, Torres was better for us than Falcao has been for United. Why would Mourinho pick Falcao over Remy or a youngster ? Remy is actually a good footballer and a youngster can't possibly do any worse than Falcao would.
May 26, 201511 yr I see Falcao as an Eto'o style signing, someone in big games to do a job. I think a lot of people are also ruling him out way to quickly, it's the problem with the british media. They love a flop, once he has a bad run we make sure the rest of the country knows about it. All I am saying, If there is nothing about I wouldnt be surprised if this actually did happen. I'd like Remy to be our number 2, I just don't know if Jose trusts him to be that. People need to bare in mind that if this happened it would only be a loan, this wouldn't be a 3 - 4 year contract. Just don't rule it out.
