It takes City and Liverpool a matter of weeks to complete their deals. With us, its a complete anomaly if it isn't months to complete. The sanctions are no excuse when new ownership was inevitable and we could still talk to clubs regarding transfers. You just have to look at recent history what has happened when we left signings late. 2011, 2015, and 2017. 6th, 10th, and 5th placed finishes.

I'd be a lot more optimistic about this Window if we'd got Marina out.

Keeping Marina is an absolute disaster.

She's terrible at her job at the best of times, having her bundle her way through another window of failure on her way out is just absurd.

If we could trick City and Liverpool to both hiring Marina on a part time basis we'd walk the league

Our midfield is so lightweight and injury prone already, and we are likely going to go into next season with the same midfield + Gallagher in what's going to be the most congested and physically demanding season to date with the WC squeezed in.

I forget who but someone on here is a big fan of Wolves Ait-nouri

He's good in the attack phases so that alone makes him a better option than Emerson. 

The team doesn't report for pre-season training until July 2 - everyone needs to relax a little.  I'm sure things are in motion.  

Having said that, the realist in me thinks we are struggling to compete with Liverpool and City for player talent, and the options out there are increasingly limited.

Hopefully I am wrong but I expect a boring widow. We probably will sign Kounde and maybe another cb (lcb) and that is it.

I can only presume that you are being ironic with this post. If you are not, then you are obviously a Spurs fan, desperate to get Marina to your Club.  Chelsea has been in safe hands and is financially stable, because of her. Some of Chelsea's recruitment is deplorable, but Marina does not choose the players to buy, she negotiates the deal for those chosen and there probably isn't a better or tougher negotiator in world football.

I said at the time Tottenham grabbing that last CL was potentially really bad news for us. With Conte in charge I dread the thought that this could be the year they finally leap-frog us.

Bissouma is an absolute steal at that price. Quality, quality player.

Then why do we drastically overpay for every player we target? How many signings do we make where it looks like we've negotiated a decent fee prior to a player signing for us?  She paid 58m for a bundesliga bench warmer who had flopped at Dortmund benched by 2 younger more talented players.  There are very very few incomings Marina negotiates that look like we've got a bargain.

I'm not surprised she won an award.  She must be incredibly popular amongst the other directors after they all routinely fleece her. It's a bit like giving the special kid a trophy on the school sports day.  Sure they came last and forward rolled over the finish line 2 minutes after everyone else but they tried!

I don’t get why we aren’t even in for him. If it’s between Bissouma for 25m or Rice for 80m, it’s a no brainer imo. Even though I’m a fan of Rice.

Dembele is incredibly talented but it is hard to ignore his injury record

With werner it is what it is. Every Chelsea fans want him to succeed but it looks like it won't happen with us.

I'm sorry facts don't fit your feelings.

Look at the fees Marina has "negotiated" and ask yourself how many looked good value for money at the time or if many other clubs would want to make those signings.

Also lose the superiority complex, a nearly dead club forum, reddit, Instagram, Facebook or whatever other terrible platform you use has no high ground over football twitter.

We should go for this player, only 21 yrs old

The issue was Chelsea was trying to include Tomori in the deal and he didn’t want to go to Sevilla. When Chelsea backed off that approach it was too late in the window for Sevilla to get a replacement for Kounde. 
 

To be honest I am not a fan of the Kounde signing. I saw him play 5 or 6 times for Sevilla this past year. At times he looked disinterested and other times he looked like Malang Sarr making poor decisions leading to scoring opportunities. I also don’t think he will be able to stand up to the physical play in the PL as a center back.
