Bernard is the turn of the time in the transfer market. The attacking midfielder has received 12 official proposals, outside several polls, and will soon define his future. According to GloboEsporte.com , Chelsea are currently favorites to hire the Brazilian.

The Blues are also Bernard's favorites. The player really likes the club and loves the city of London, so he hopes that the end of this negotiation will be happy.

Bernard is seen as a great business opportunity for being young (25) and becoming a free agent after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk in June, where he did not reach a renewal deal. That is, it will go free to the club that hire you.

Among the teams that have made proposals are Monaco, West Ham, Leicester City, Wolfsburg and Palmeiras. Verdão, by the way, stirred the athlete. But Bernard's priority is Europe. Grêmio was another Brazilian club that came into contact.

Never heard of him. I guess he is a back up not someone who will be in the first 11 regularly? No idea.

I only know him from that semi final and being the diminutive replacement for Neymar.

the sort of bargain the higher ups probably want, but not sure how there’s space on the flanks unless we ship someone out (preferably two so as to leave space for CHO). Feels like he may fit into the system at least.

Bernard was highly rated, but it's not surprising he's fallen off the radar in Ukraine.

He's obviously a decent player on a free transfer, I don't think he is an improvement though.

Financially it makes sense, but I think if Oscar was deemed not good enough, then I'm not sure barnard will have a massive impact.

Come to think of it, Oscar is a better player than Barkley or RLC, and would've been ideal for that attacking midfield role. Shame the money was too good to refuse at the time.

Some star clubs interested in him then...

Why not just have some faith in CHO?

It would make good business sense if we signed  this guy and sell pedro. Then if the pie in sky swap deal between Willian and martial happens we still have four including Hudson-odoi

Hazard, Willian/martial, bernard/pedro and CHO . Looks good to me.

I'm just grateful that Emile Hesky is already retired......

Regarding how the club is run, I think the most fair word to describe it would be: inconsistent.

At times we seem to operate in a terrible fashion.  Literally like the worst run club in the division at times.

Other times we are easily the best run club in the divisions.  And the thing is, we can be the best one season then the worst and then the best again before going back to seeming like a horribly run outfit.

It can certainly be frustrating as fans (and I imagine for some of the players too), but I keep myself happy thinking 20 years ago we'd all have been ecstatic to accept/know that the last few seasons would occur and in 20 years time we'll probably look back fondly for the most part.

Worried about what exactly? How are things being handled that you don't agree with? Please give some examples. And please provide proof as well. And don't use any media speculation as proof that the club is poorly run as well.

you know, I still remember in the previous summer window (2017), people were arguing the same thing whether we were conducting transfer fast & effective enough. people kept saying that "transfer deadline is still some times away" but then we all know how it ends (acquiring mediocre plan Bs after missing out some of our top targets), and how the following season ends (finished 6th). funnily enough, people who were worried during the window was referring to summer window in 2015, when we pretty much did the same thing (acquiring mediocre players, finishing 10th). and if you were here back then in 2015, you would know that they were also referring to summer window in 2010, when we did similar mistake although in a lesser degree (failed to strengthen, followed by trophyless season).

so point is, he (and many others including me) has a valid reason to be worried with the way we conducted business in recent times. i can name you three reasons already: summer transfer window of 2010, 2015, and 2017. we just don't want the club to repeat the mistake that we had done so many times, to settle for second rated players instead of acquiring truly world class players that would bring our squad to the next level. case in point:

Bookies have made us the favorite to sign Zaha

right about now you probably are thinking about Jorginho's transfer as counterargument to my thesis about bringing in mediocre players. i agree that he's a wonderful player, but ask yourself this: is he alone enough to bring us back to the highest level?

tl;dr: it is totally understandable if some of us are worried, given recent results, and frankly I would be surprised if you aren't worried

I do despair, I really do. I tell you what, you worry all you want, about the board, about the quality of our players, about whatever you want. I'm just going to enjoy the up coming season and judge the club at the end.

Toodaloo.

then why berate him in the first place?

Zaha is absolutely banging. Way more exciting than Bailey for instance.

Trouble is he plays on the left iirc?

Get him!

You've got CHO in that role already and Mousanda so why spend money on Zaha?

He's been playing up top recently for Palace and could easily play a similar role to Mertens

I am not 100% sure he would get a work permit.

no transfer fee involved, not played in competitive International games, his wage wouldn’t be in the higher levels so it may well be difficult to qualify for a permit automatically and based on the trajectory of his career would not be difficult to go down the exceptional talent route

Work permits have never stopped us signing a player before. He’ll just been loaned out forever until we give up.

If we do indeed sign him I can’t think it’s with the initial intention of loaning him out.

That's a good point considering he hasn't played for Brazil in 4 years. I know there is usually special allowances when a decent fee is involved, and maybe he would still be able to go through that route, given his high wages, signing on fee, and agent fee.

This isn't really a transfer I want to happen though.

Those special dispensation clauses have realbeen tightened up...so there is a real possibility of him not getting a visa...

BBC sport gossip page say we are interested in Zaha, can't say I have seen this link recently until now, is this because the Higuaín opportunity is seen as being dead.

If it is serious can't see Palace selling this late before season gets started.

Money plus another season loan of RLC I reckon. That would do it. Maybe even tammy as well. Not sure if the rule is 1 or 2 loans from the same club at the same time mind you.
