Impossible to happen without a big money departure. Villa will surely not accept anything under 80-90M and we are obliged by the FFP to find a balance between arrivals and departures.

Now that Petrovic is gone, we have currently made around 45M from outgoings, but still need to make another 100M in order to balance the books. It is spread all over the season, so it's doable during this transfer market and the winter one.

Now adding the Morgan Rogers fee to this ecuation turns it into a headache and I am not sure the board is ready to do it for this financial year.

Their fans think it will take £100m. £80m, £90m, £100m; think everyone is getting carried away here, and there is a reason European clubs don’t even bother getting involved. They must think English clubs are mad, and laughing their asses off. Villa paid £7.5m for him last summer, how the hell is he an £80m player 12mths later? The numbers make zero sense.

Forgive me if I’m wrong ‘cos this PSR bo**ocks gets wrapped around my head but realistically an 80M player is only going to be 16M against this years books after amortisation (which I believe is now capped at 5 years)

We’ve bought in Delap (30M) JP (50M) & Gittens (52M) which against this years books puts us at -26.4M

BUT then we’ve sold Petrovic (25M - 14.5M Paid + 5.8M 2 years off book value = 16.3M PROFIT) Humphrey’s (12M) Bettinelli (2M) & Kepa (5M - 5M Book Value) and Madueke on the way for (55M - 30M Paid + 12M 2 years off book value = 37M PROFIT) so we’re already at 67M minus the 27M we’ve already spent give us 40M spare? Which is 200M amortised over the 5 years? I think?

plus the likelihood of Nkunku (35-40M) & Jackson (25-30M) also leaving alsonguse all the loan fees we’ll be collecting. I don’t know how Amougu factors into PSR with only being here 6 months.

what's your source on the "need another 100m in order to balance the books"?

according to transfermarkt we've already made 54m and that doesn't include the Madueke sale which seems imminent that would push us beyond 100
https://www.transfermarkt.com/fc-chelsea/alletransfers/verein/631

No source at all, it's UEFA's imposed rules on us. But you are right, completely forgot about Madueke lol. So it's only 50M left to cover for.

It's not PSR, it's UEFA's FFP.

From a PSR point of view, we're one of the safest clubs in the country.

FFP, though... If we buy players worth of 200M this summer, we'd also have to sell players worth of 200M this window and the next one (winter), as per FFP imposed restrictions on us.

Noise around Morgan Roger’s is heating up. Signing of the Summer if we do somehow manage to pull it off.

Young, English, PL Proven, Great rapport with Palmer, Strengthens one of our weaknesses.

I absolutely beg this happens.

  • Madueke to Arsenal

  • Fernandez to Real Madrid

  • Nkunku to Bayern Munich

  • Jackson to Aston Villa

  • Rogers to Chelsea

I'll be turning cart wheels if all of that happens LOL

We'd have to sell Jackson to Villa to fund the Rogers move I reckon.

It's definitely something I would love to see happen. The link up play between Pedro, Rogers, and Palmer would be Cinema.

There's no getting away from the fact that @markpitts 's fbref analysis post above is pretty compelling as well.

What about Felix to Villa or Benfica?

As a matter of interest can you point me to the UEFA written directive stating what you are saying.

I agree fully that’s what is being reported in some of the press but it’s certainly not what the sanctions statement says

Just a point in Kepa. He was bought on a 7 year deal. The rule change re max 5 year amortisation meant that his £10pa finished in 24/25 . The 5 years were already exceeded so that amortisation sum will come off the books for 25/26 . So in accounting therms the £5 million adds to the £10 = an impact of £15 million.

But also when it comes to player costs you now have to also factor in their wages. Amortisation + agent fees ( mainly included in sums to be amortised) + wages

“@Matt_Law_DT: I'm told by people on the outside that if Villa do go for Nicholas Jackson, it will immediately trigger a bid for Morgan Rogers from Chelsea.”

This was said by Matt Law this week.

I was talking to a Villa mate and he said that Rodgers plays CAM and he’s useless on the wings. Surely we are overloaded at CAM?

Sell Felix, Nkunku and Enzo

Sell Felix, Nkunku and Enzo

Felix it seems will go back to Portugal, Nunkuku and Gusto seem to be a package to Bayerns and Enzo likely to RM

Felix will see both and accounting and cash loss. Bayern are said to want to deal of around €100 so if that’s right will see a cash gain and a significant accounting gain and Enzo at the sum being talked out would see a sizeable cash gain and a significant accounting profit.

Move on those 4 and save Gusto who yes played well in the CWC but his presence puts a barrier to club grown talent, I don’t see any squad quality drop
