Teams to go down this season?

Featured Replies

Which three teams do you think are going to struggle in the Premier League this season and end up in one of the three relegation places come the end of May?

Sadly I think Reading will, they don't have any good wingers and their strikers are average as hell. Defence is okay though but they won't score enough.

Swansea will be alright, they have always (well, majority of the times anyway) played the same way regardless of who is there. They already signed Michu who will probably do better than Sigurdsson. When they sell Allen, they can get a much better players with the £15m. Think West Ham will go down along with Reading, not sure on the 3rd team though.

I'm not sure which 3 but I think West Ham, West Brom, Swansea & Wigan will all be around the relegation zone.

ps are there 2 of these threads?

Don't underestimate Reading...they were unlucky to go down in their second season in the PL the first time around, McDermott is a good manager not unlike Rodgers..expect them to survive...going down...Wigan, Southampton, Stoke or WBA

Want:-

QPR

West Ham

Liverpool

I'd throw the Spuds in that want category especially with loudmouth at the helm...

Anyway, my guess at the three that are going down are:

QPR, Wigan, Swansea

Norwich - Lambert's gone, watch them fall like a stone.

QPR - Lucky last season and haven't bought any new players of any quality.

Southampton - Risen too fast, too soon and will get found out.

Would love to see West Ham go down, but Allardyce's hoofball philosophy should see them scrape to survival.

Disagree with your comment about QPR not signing anyone quality. They've already added Junior Hoilett, Park Ji-Sung, Robert Green, and taken United's Fabio on loan.

I mean, really?

I just hope Reading don't go down. I want Fedirici to do well.

I feel the same way. Same with Aston Villa because of Holman and Herd.

Who will go down? Impossible to say. Unfortunately, I do actually think Reading will be down there somewhere. They have some decent players and did manage to win the Championship, but their squad as a whole is questionable.

Norwich are a possible risk now that Lambert is gone because their squad is not particularly strong as a whole. Hughton is a respectable manager, but I don't know if he has the talent on hand to avoid a relegation scrap.

Wigan are always a possibility, especially now since they've lost Diame, Rodallega and Thomas without reinforcing much, but they always manage to pull off escape acts.

Southamption are a good chance on paper, with a questionable squad and an unproven manager. However, Rodriguez and Clyne are talented and their situation reminds me of Norwich last year.

Swansea lost Sigurrdson, but Michu is a shrewd purchase. Laudraup is also suitable for their passing style. As long as they keep Vorm, I'd be surprised if they went down.

I'd be surprised if West Ham was relegated. Sam Allardyce is an ugly manager, but generally an effective one, especially in these situations.

West Brom seem to have established themselves as a mid-table side in recent seasons, but I suppose a relegation scrap is still possible with them, especially with an unproven manager now at the helm. Foster was a vital purchase though.

As for QPR, they've signed some substantial quality - but will they gel as a team? If they do, expect them to be around mid-table. If they don't, expect relegation fears.

I think Stoke should be fine; Pulis is like a lesser version of Allardyce - he knows how to get a mid-to-lower table place.

Sunderland? Nah, not with O'Neill in charge.

I reckon Norwich and Swans will struggle, both second season syndrome and both lost promising managers.

Also Stoke - they were only nine points clear of the drop last season and if Pennant does go to Wigan as rumoured they will be knackered, seeing as all they did last season was whip crosses in from the right. Plus they always have about 30% possession - surely can't keep going like that.
