Knee jerkers? Have you actually watched us this season? Cech flaps at things every other week. Stop living off the fact he won the Champions League, so did Meireles and he wasn't good enough either. Cech has been a great servant and terrific performer but he's not what he was. Also I'd take Courtois for 15 years, than Cech at a lower level for 5. Get the blinkers off.

Cech needs to realize that we have a f**king amazing goalkeeper out on loan who may well want to move on if he's loaned again.

 

Courtois must not be used as a make-weight for any deal involving Diego Costa. 

I'd rather we broke the bank for Edinson Cavani and brought Courtois back.

I get your point Spiller and I know how much you love Cech, but he's not as good as he was. He isn't consistent anymore either, he was well out of place for Terrys OG at the weekend as well.

A woeful peformance from Cech tonight, Ive seen way too many crosses in our 6 yard box go unclaimed this year and letting a near post shot like that in is criminal. Still obviously a good goalkeeper but he is looking significantly worse than Courtois right now

Obviously there's no chance of sending Courtois out on loan again next season so it's either keep him or sell him to A.Madrid.

Realistically Cech has maybe one or two seasons left in him to stay at the elite level we're used to from him. I just don't think it's worth using him for two seasons while losing out on the best young keeper in the world.

 

Could go the Madrid route and rotate them for cup games and whatnot. I hope either way Cech stays with Chelsea though, would be good to have him in the background, maybe even becoming a GK Coach or something in the next 2-3 years.

Whilst I wouldn't drop Cech purely for the 3rd goal tonight, I do think we have to take a risk with Courtois because if we don't we could lose him. Harsh on Cech who, along with Bonetti, has been out best ever goalkeeper. We wouldn't have won titles without him, no question.

Cech is awesome and if we didn't have this potential gem ready for the step up (or across) then I'd have no qualms with him being our number one for another 5 or so years, at all. But I just feel we have to get Courtois back and let him play.

Carlo wasn't injured when Cech started the first game under Jose, he was on the bench I'm 99% sure of it.

I'm sure José came our pre season and said cech would be his first choice keeper.

Can't imagine anyone else in goal other than Cech. Goalies can be older than outfield players with less consequence about age. Can't miss what we never had, strikers are the number 1 priority for next season.

I think the club need to look at it this way, and with financial fair play seemingly now in full effect it may force our hand.

 

1) Cech, good for 5 more years, maybe but already showing signs of decline.  Courtois good for another 15 years yet and only improving

 

2) Cech maybe still worth some money this summer that we could use to boost more needed areas of the team.

 

I think we have to look to the future, put aside favouritism, and loyalty.  I think it has to be Courtois.

My thinking would be that there will be another Courtious that we can pick up. We have a pretty impressive talent network and with the amount of players we scoop up, I'm sure we can find another great keeper in the next 5 years.

Cech is a great keeper who is a leader in our side. We don't have many of those left in our side, though knowing next to nothing about Courtious the person, this is perhaps something he could step into.

If Courtious could make a seriously hefty makeweight for Costa, that's what I would. I'm talking 25-30 mil. Especially as we've given him to them for three seasons, Athletico shouldn't take the piss. If Athletico try and play hard ball, we should turn our back and put our middle fingers up.

Now on Cech, any decent interest for a fee around 15 mil we should try and capitalise on. I love Cech and am grateful for everything he has done for us. He is a record breaker and has had some unbelievably big games for us. Now what annoys me about his play. It's not the 3rd goal. That's bad defending for one and the sort of mistake a keeper makes. Though it was that second goal which is the type the goal which has been having far too often. Cech's command of his area is shocking. He puts himself in no man's land all too often and half commits. We have conceded too many goals from crosses and set pieces which have mainly been down to Cech.

I think this decision comes down to economics over most other things. As players there isn't much in it. Courtious looks to shade it in pure talent. Cech has the intangibles, though Courtious may have them (only one way to find out).

Though sometimes you need to let go of fan's favourites and take a bit of risk. Liverpool did it when they decided to replace Reina (a big leader and a big performer in their side who had been regressing) In place of Reina. On balance, they made the right decision.

Replacing Carlo Cudicini (my second favourite CFC player and a man who made stick playing in goal even though I hated it) was not easy but we did the right thing.

Will replacing Cech be the right thing? It is one tough decision.

Replacing a great players is never easy, especially comes to timing. I think next season it's the time to do it, given Cech has achieved just about everything and his love for the club, I believe he won't leave.

2nd and 3rd goals tonight, while not the only player at fault, were in part due to woeful keeping by Petr.

 

I haven't seen Courtois but if he would have saved those two then we should really be giving this a think.

this could all be academic if courtois decides he wants to stay in spain for example, but if not I would have him back. Cech has been a fantastic keeper at times for us but since arriving at the bridge and deposing Cudicini,how much competition has he had? Cech shouldn't be an untouchable in my opinion.None of them should.

Not sure it is as easy as that. World class talent is hard to come by. How do you find another Messi, Ronaldo, especially when everyone is searching.

I'm undecided with this whole debate as there are so many 'what if's' at the moment. Is Cech pass his best, will he be good for another 5 years, is Courtious really as good as people say, will he improve, is he suited to EPL, does he want to come.

I think it is probably too much of a gamble to let Courtious go and would like him back next season and they can both fight it out.
