Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

I thought this made some good points from a Man City fan:

The loan moves may not be best for Chelsea in the short run, but at least they acted in the interest of the players.

Moses needs to be playing regularly with World Cup next year and he is one of the main players of Nigerian squad. He was not goin to get regular game time at Chelsea ahead of Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Willian, KDB n Schurrle. Similarly, Lukaku is too raw for top level right now as evident from the matches he played for chelsea. If he can use his height and strength to good effect, one feels he will be a hit at Everton given Baines' expertise on crosses and set pieces.

Considering we like to accuse the club of short termism he makes a good point.  We sent them to two strong clubs with ambitions beyond avoiding relegation, with good squads to compete in.  If the alternative was sitting on our bench behind a wealth of talent then this was the right move for now.  It seems we tried to offload Ba but couldn't and we can't justify having 4 on the books.  Both of these players want to make their world cup squads, and they wouldn't have had a fair opportunity here this year.

I think the move to Everton is actually a better one than West Brom (sorry Steve) to be honest.

The expectation at the Toffees is higher for a start & Martinez is a more attacking focused manager.

Fair play to Lukaku for having the ball's to take the pen against Munich (in front of their fans no less),it is a bit of a lottery after all.

But in truth, his bottle went and his pen was a poor effort & that by the way,is no way mean't as a bad reflection on the boy's character.

It just goes to show that he's not quite ready for the level at which Chelsea are now expected to compete.

That penalty (if were lucky) could have been against Bayern in a Champions League final rematch and just imagine for a second, what a failure there would have done for his development.

And if we had managed to sign a top class player such as Cavanni or so this summer, wouldn't Luk still be a second (or third) choice?.

It's a good move for him & a much better option than loaning/selling Ba to the arse.

That really would have made me spit feathers.

"I was sitting in my hotel room in Brussels when the phone went to tell me I was going out on loan again,’

‘It was 7 pm, and that was the first I knew of it. There had not been a mention of it before then, but after speaking to my parents, I decided to take the plunge.

‘I talked to the manager as well, and while what he said was confidential, it just underlined that he is the best coach I have worked with. Some beat about the bush, but he comes out straight and tells you what he thinks. As a player, that is what you want.

‘The important thing, at 20, is to be playing, and while West Brom was an option, Everton was a better one. There are a few things I need to improve in my game, and Everton’s footballing approach and possession play can be perfect for me.

‘My movement and runs to the far post and near post could be better, and I have already had a good, long conversation with the manager Roberto Martinez about that. I’ve also known Kevin Mirallas since I was 14, and that should help. We talked about it (the loan move) all last night.’

‘Samuel Eto’o signing for Chelsea didn’t influence my decision, because I was already behind Fernando Torres in the pecking order anyway,’

‘I am looking forward to playing again, and that penalty miss against Bayern has not affected my confidence. I drove straight home afterwards, because I had to clear my head. It was the worst thing that could have happened to me, but I was able to smile again the next day. My team-mates talked to me a lot at the time, and that helped.’

Refreshingly honest of the lad.He will learn and improve with more game time and maybe be good enough to lead the line here one day.Lets get behind the strikers we have now and stop pre judging things.

His answers really tell how motivated and a great lad he is. He is telling things we should hear from Torres' mouth to be honest. Telling exactly what he needs to train to be better. He could go on and tell how he scored 17 goals last season but no he is all ablot improvement and honest.

Well if you think about it Lukaku was 3rd choice behind Eto'o and Torres. At Everton he is probably behind Jelavic but that's it. He'll bang in the goals and come back to replace Eto'o after the season. Lot better for him.

I doubt he will be behind Jelavic for long,Jelavic is cack.

Jelavic is a half a season wonder.

I swear torres is always in the press saying stuff like this

He will be a wonderful player for us yet, it will be great to see him continue to develop at Everton with proper minutes which benefits all parties involved.

Good for the lad, still seems like a major cock up by our lot. Should have been given a run this season and instead Ba and Torres got starts ahead of him despite Lukaku being the one in form last season

I don't think he's good enough to be our striking equivalent of Hazard/Oscar et al yet. One year's regular playing time in a side that plays a similar style to us and he'll be ready to lead us Drogba-style next season.

I think the deal went the wrong way and that we should of got Baines and kept Lukaku.  Give them Cole or Bertrand plus cash and offer our team a direct alternative to all the useless crowding around the corner of the attacking box on our left side making it so easy to get shut down by defenders.

He is more than good enough to play up front ahead of the 3 blind mice
