July 30, 201411 yr First things first we will end up with a decent profit from a player that has played 10 times for us. Next I have seen nothing of him up to this point in time to suggest he is the next big thing. Yes I know people will come back and say he has scored a goal every other game and that is beyond doubt but his first touch is poor, his defensive work likewise and as we saw in the WC his form against top level opposition isn't that great All I came think is that the money we have paid out on Costa, Fabregras & Luis (all 3 would I suspect be regular starters and improvements) these signings have been funded from the sale of Luiz, Ba & now Lukaka none of these 3 were regular starters and even if they hadn't been sold I very much doubt that they would have been anything more than bit players.
July 30, 201411 yr I'm left wondering what has been the point of Lukaku and with all the talk about Drogba being mainly on board to coach Lukaku, I'm also wondering what is the point of Drogba.
July 30, 201411 yr Well that what happens when you keep signing old strikers like Etoo'o and Drogba and never give any confidence in you lad. All wrong indications in signings itself. Jose said he wanted him to stay and fight last season. He chose to go out on loan
July 30, 201411 yr it seems that Mourinho didn't like to look of him. Lukaku's been far too mouthy and immature. He showed very little in the World Cup and frankly the way teams defend against Chelsea is totally different to how they approach West Brom or Everton. He may never have delivered for us although I would have liked to have seen him try. Last season Jose commented on City's 4 options at striker and compared that with our 3 mis-firing forwards. We do play one up front so opportunities for a fourth striker are going to be very limited but I think we've all lost patience with Torres and chances are he'll only get worse if he feels the fans are no longer behind him. Drogba is a legend but can he deliver 15-20 goals off the bench? My fear is that if Costa picks up an injury we'll be stuffed Completely agreed
July 30, 201411 yr Good business again by the club...the whole Lukaku situation will be remembered as a sad affair by me...firstly the club were to blame...they treated him like sh*t, started by avb bombing him out to the reserves in his first season...but then overtime his attitude and ego came into question...wanted to be the main man when he hadn't even proved he could be the second or third striker...seemed to forget he was at chelsea, not clubs like west brom and Everton...I don't think he is as good as he thinks he is and all his interviews in the press were naive and foolish...I wish him well in his career, but wonder if he will ever fulfil his potential
July 30, 201411 yr And Jose should be the man manager and convince him to stay !! Not all all Sonic. Lukaku should be a professional and fight for his place
July 30, 201411 yr Lukaku is too mouthy & Jose is correct in everything he does? Lol. I can't believe what I read here. Nobody is saying that, but i would trust Mourinho more than i do Lukaku that's for sure. I guarantee all sorts will be said about Mourinho and the club by Lukaku in the next couple months. He seems like one of those types of players that would do something like that. Edited July 30, 201411 yr by Scott Harris
July 30, 201411 yr Be interesting to see what Everton fans think of this, the ones I know are underwhelmed to say the least. They think 10-15 would have been ok, none think 25 is a good signing.
July 30, 201411 yr I accept your point but don't you find it strange that so few clubs were linked with him? Kind of but in the same sense I don't think we ever really made it clear he was for sale either. I think this has only happened as a result of Drogba coming back tbh. It must be a bit of a kick in the balls to see a 36 year old stroll back in and know the manager prefers him over you. FWIW I think the Drogba move was to try and push Nando out the door quicker, but it's rubbed Lukaku up the wrong way as well. Remember, Jose was feeling very content that our transfer business was finished so early. Something like this gives him the chance to make another big money signing and claim he had no other option but to buy once Lukaku wanted out - all the while having a good few weeks to negotiate a good deal.
July 30, 201411 yr Would this make people happier? Nacho Palencia @NachoPalen · 4h Chelsea have top Costa, Drogba and Torres time. Mou wants Cavani and player crazy. Darling with Chelsea
July 30, 201411 yr Yes and there are also very average players missing from that list. Basically, that list proves nothing. Of course it doesn't prove he will be a world beater or have any kind of consistency, but I would say that it does prove the lad knows his way to goal. I agree with you as well, I don't think he's ready to start for us but given a year or two I think he would have been. Unfortunately he didn't want to wait for that chance.

July 30, 201411 yr So called "Next Drogba" replaced by Drogba - almost like a dream Lukaku would do well to become half the player Drogba was.

July 30, 201411 yr And Jose should be the man manager and convince him to stay !! Why should Jose need to convince him of anything. Jose's record speaks for itself. Either he wanted to be a part of it or not!
July 30, 201411 yr Let's forget about this thread; honestly f**k him! He's a weak minded individual and deserves to be forgot about.

July 30, 201411 yr Was so excited when we signed Lukaku, it's a shame it's all come down to this. People say that he hasn't shown the quality to be our main striker, but he was never given a chance to prove himself with us. it's all fizzled out to a disappointing end. i don't understand why we have got torres, and signed drogba but sold a guy who could give us some real energy and drive from the bench. In Jose We Trust though! i'd rather lose a player than Mourinho, so let's just be grateful that we have the best in the business in the dugout, and pray to almighty God that Costa doesnt get injured!!

July 30, 201411 yr I wasn't totally convinced by Lukaku but, I hope to god that Costa hits the ground running, doesn't get any injuries or any suspensions because without him we're stuffed in the goals department. I guess we're better off than last year but not by much. Not at all convinced we've made up enough ground on City in the goal scoring department. I'd really have kept Lukaku over one of Torres and Drogba - ideally Torres. Oh well.
July 30, 201411 yr What does that even mean? Both Mourinho and Cavani want the transfer to go through (apparently).

Darling with Chelsea Like others have said, this would make me forget we made a bad decision with selling Lukaku to Everton, but it will never happen. On a side note, if there is any team in the PL that I would have wanted to see Romelu go to, it would have been Everton. I like the group they have put together, and I like Martinez. The fact that they just extended Barkley and still have Mirallas, McCarthy and Coleman who are all young and talented, adding Lukaku to the mix. They could be a team who can steal points from our main rivals for the next couple of seasons.

Bad decision on our part.
