Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

i think Oscar may have been our best bit of business this year Hazard has performed better this season, but i can see oscar being our best player in a year or two. his natural ability is stunning, with a first touch second to none. needs to bulk up slightly, and adapt to the pace, but by next season i think he will be one of a new breed of 'untouchables'

That's arguably his biggest weakness, along with the inconsistency of his finishing.

Yes agree, still about adaption and honing his game - good examples of this include Lampard and Ronaldo, it will come..

I reckon Jose will like him and I'm tempted to say he will make Oscar play deeper and turn him into a Lampard.

He tracks back, his tackling is good, his positional sense is good, and he's a decent passer and finisher. He just needs a touch of Mourinho.

I may be wrong but I think Scolari gave his number 10 shirt to Neymar, which is a real shame if true, because the number 10 shirt in Brazil is revered, and Oscar is a very popular player with the Brazil public.

Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone?

Maybe Scolari thinks Neymar is more deserving of the shirt or needs the confidence boost or is more able to cope with the pressure that comes with being number 10 in a WC at home, but I still think it's a kick in the teeth.

Anyone know more details?

Need to appease Barca's new signing.

Ozzy can rock the number 11 for us and Brazil... He's man enough not to cry about it unlike step over kid with the stupid hair.

i thought it was a bitch move by scolari, especially since oscar is constantly overshadowing neymar. i will be surprised if brazil end up having a successful WC run with that kind of man management

More truth then Chelsea bias though.

I read somewhere Oscar has been man of the match for Brazil 7 games in a row.

I haven't seen him have one bad game for Brazil, or anything even resembling a bad game. I felt he was a bit quiet yesterday but the only quality on show in the whole game was when he was involved. And from what I've heard from Brazilian fans its only Santos fans (In Brazil) that rate Neymar anywhere near as highly as most of the media. From what I gather most Brazilians see Oscar as their main man for the future. You could hear them booing when he was subbed in the England game - totally justified as he was the best player on the pitch in the first half.

Agree with that last post"... I am oscars biggest fan, he has all the assets you could want in a modern footballer, and when he matures will be world class in my view. He is not far off it already.

He play effectively in 3 or 4 different roles

Very energetic and nippy all thru the game

First touch is sublime

He can shoot and score regularly

He has poise and balance

He has some tricks

He has a big heart

He can put a foot in

He doesn't dive

He will graft

He can link the play

He can play between the lines

He can cross a decent ball

Sorry, going on a bit now

Brilliant is one word!

You can see how much more Oscar has developed compared to Neymar.I think thats because Oscar has come to the prem and its made him improve,Neymar form with Brazil is very hit and miss and i dont think its helped with him being in the Brazil league,i think he stayed at Santos longer than he should of.

He'll hopefully become more consistent with age and getting a rest every once and a while would help, 80 odd games last season was ridiculous.

One thing I will say is he needs to work on his finishing and/or become more composed, a few games last season where he missed quite a few sitters but I think that will come good in time.

Neymar will undoubtedly be a better play than Oscar, just not yet. Kaka was an excellent player, but Ronaldinho was a legend.

That said, for me the proof of Oscar's talent is that he plays with the likes of Hazard, Mata, Neymar and Moura and never looks a step behind.

You can easily see who his idol is; Kaka. Kaka is still a great footballer but he's lost the ability score from nowhere and make long runs due to injuries, age and role. Oscar can get there IMO. I hope Jose encourages him to shoot more often.

I wouldn't say its a foregone conclusion neymar will be better than oscar. It will largely depend how well he does at Barcelona, I think it could go the other way.

messi like drogba, seems to eat the competition, and makes it hard for anyone else to grab any of his limelight.

I can see neymar struggling not being top dog there, meanwhile oscar is settled and out performing him at international level, and I can only see him kivking on again next season, it wouldnt suprise me if oscar is brazils best player at the world cup.

Oscar was also lucky he had almost no competition coming into the squad. He did well in the first term but if far from what he can potentially do for us. Oscar did well but nothing too special.

I think you have to take into account how many games hes played though. after the confederations cup he will have played around 80 games in a year. He also was adapting to a new league, country and culture. He played most of his games under rafa out of position, and he's only 20!

Yeah just tried to emhasize how well he's done but he was still miles behind Mata and Hazard who in the future Oscar can outclass IMO.

I'm a big fan of Oscar. He is certainly the future for this club.

IN fairness to oscar, as stated above hazard and mata both had better seasons, however they haven't had as a major culture shock as Oscar has had moving from South America.

The biggest point being that they were both played in their best positions all season whereas oscar was played on the right of a top three when as we see with brazil he plays best as either a No 10 or as a deep lying play maker
