Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

I'd like someone direct who will run at the defenders and get crosses in, instead of stopping and cutting back inside. Or just stopping and standing there waving their foot over the ball for 5 seconds...Willian. Ideally someone like Damien Duff.

Payet is actually not a bad option in the short term. He's no longer the 30M rated player he was few months ago, he's proven in the league, and at this stage of his career he probably wants a go at trophies. Of course he's not the 25 year old that worth a 6 years contract, but he's definitely still up for it for 2-3 seasons. Football at this stone age is pretty much about instant success, I don't think we could risk it with no reinforcement and relying on the untested young players to step up.

All the best to Oscar, if he's going to China for real.

Some unbelievable post here. Most people don't rate Oscar and happy to let him go, as soon as he's going to China people go up and arms about him going for the money than so called 'priorities'. He's a footballer, he got a short career and bills to pay, good for him to cash in when he could. When this Chinese gold rush clams down in a year or two, he won't be getting a golden deal like this. Would the same people feel better if we send him out on loan to Juventus? Let's face it, if this deal go through, it's a deal of the century for the club. We sold a bench player ( who's injured at moment), for a club record fee. I'd sell Willian for this kind of $. We got spend the $ on the right player, that's the real issue.

It's a great deal for us, I'm ecstatic with the transfer fee, but I can't bring myself to say good for him, smart decision. Oscar going to China does not fit Conte's philosophy, passion over money, Oscar is 25, has made a decent amount of money already to say the least, I'm not sure a move to China is going to make a whole lot of difference to his already luxurious lifestyle. When Oscar has retired, are people going to look back on his career and say good for him, he made a sh*t ton of cash, or will they say he could have been a top player, but he went for the money? As I heard on the fancast, Oscar going to China is like Homer selling his soul for donut, it'll be a shame if more players follow suit, but I guess it's the norm in this day and age to accept that a career is all about making as much cash as possible.

I think you are being a bit unfair.........Homer selling his soul for a doughnut is understandable, those doughnuts in the Simpsons do look really nice

Very true, it's an understandable decision when I think about it.

It depends how much Wolfsburg wants for Draxler, if we buy him for £20mil-£25mil there wouldn't be any risk involved, because we can easily resell him for that or more. He is good with both feet, direct and likes to go past players. He also has alot of Champions League and national team experience for his age.

I don't think Wolfsburg have right to ask for a big price for Draxler. They're not even playing him.

Oscar is a good player , but will never become the Ronaldo or Messi, or even a Roanldinho, I doubt many fans will remember him when he retires. He's never going to get that bumper deal with us or any other European club. I don't know his finance situation, but I'm sure his agent and account are over the moon with this move.

Draxler? Really? Would rather have Musonda.
A german Ross barkley. So frustrating to watch.

Draxler might be sh*t but he is BIG upgrade on Oscar.

And Beckford would have been an upgrade on Torres, didn't mean i would have wanted him.

Well. Majority will happily swap Draxler for Oscar so I think that speaks volumes!

Id rather have neither, two wrongs don't make a right.

I would be an upgrade on Oscar. Does not mean Chelsea should buy me.

As a 4th Winger, I dont think we even need a replacement. Would rather see Musonda given a real shot in some FA cup games or as a Sub.

We can go all out to buy Antoine/Sanchez/James for the RW spot and make Willian/Pedro as subs and actually add some quality to the team.

Oscar has to be the best player in Brazil first. Neymar is much better than him though.

Thanks for the service. I had so high hopes for Oscar all these years. Chelsea clearly wasn't the place he would find his peak. Sadly that seems to be all behind him. Going to China to cashout at 25 is far from admirable but I guess if Oscar is from humble background so this choice is understandable. The money he will suck out the rest of his ambition to this game.

I agree with everything you said.

He was a good servant but never reached his potentital/the expectations we had from him.

I still think he will come back to European football in 2/3 years, he's only 25 afterall.

I think he had to leave Chelsea because no way as he fulfilled his potential here but he did have some wonderful moments in a Chelsea shirt which were unfortunately too few and far between. I do think the China move is too soon in his career. I'm fairly sure he'd be a decent player in some other leagues like Spain, Italy and France. But at least he has won some major trophies in his time with us.

In any case it's a financial move for him that I think would turn anyone's head and I honestly wish him luck.

Yessssssssssssss.....at fcuking last....and we made a huge profit too! Already a very merry Xmas for me! Never thought I'd thank the useless avb for anything...they both deserve each other

This is a very normal symptom for a player to lose his ambition after he's reached his goal - which in many cases like Oscar's is to help his family out of poverty. A player of privilidge like say Frankie, doesn't have these kind of ambitions. That is why a club gets much more out of Lampard than from Oscar.

However the money is insane and in this case to get 60m pounds from a player we really don't need atm is brilliant.
