With Hilario and Turnbull set to leave, and Courtois too good to come and sit on the bench we are going to need one, or even two backup keepers.

Who should we bring in?

We tried and failed to sign Jack Buckland last summer.  He opted for more playing time elsewhere, which is entirely understandable for a promising 20 year old.

I'd suggest we should go for an older and experienced keeper who is more likely to be content with limited game time, but who can be relied upon if needed.  I give my vote to Mark Schwarzer if we could get him on acceptable terms.  He's out of contract and maybe looking for a change.  http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1456290/schwarzer-considering-fulham-exit?cc=3436  Definately work an offer in my opinion, if he could accept limited starts.

Rob Green.

Will help home grown numbers and is far better than our current options. Blackman as third choice.

Actually that's not such a bad idea, he's not great but i think he could do an ok job.

I don't know the details, but Delac is hardly getting a game on loan (and hasn't for 3 years).

There's no indication he's progressed at all since we signed him.

I think it's a good opportunity to promote from the youth set up, I have no idea how good Blackman is but I think he should at last be made 3rd choice.

Agreed, last position we need to buy players for is GK. We are blessed with 4 good ones who will last us decades if managed properly. Would be more inclined to have Delac as back up though, would rather Blackman went out on loan and give Delac something like 10 games or so. Would make a bit more easier to compare the two and pick one to be back up for Courtois in the future.

Wolves just got relegated so Wayne Hennessey is a keeper I wouldn't mind as backup. There are a few keepers abroad who I like but I'm not sure if they'd come to be backup.

For me Green or Hennessey are the choices I'd go for

As i stated on another post depending on fitness Craig Gordon may be a good back-up, only if he can prove his fitness ... would cost next to nothing and is still only about 30 and allegedly over his injury problems

^ Turnbull is about as good as we're going to get in a third choice keeper and he has the added advantage of taking up a home grown berth. I wouldn't mind if he stayed. We need a more capable second choice though. Someone like Green or Schwarzer would be ideal.

He's retired now is he not?

I would love Schwarzer, purely because he's Australian...but he probably wouldn't come.

He's not signing on at Fulham unless he's guaranteed first XI football, because he wants to make sure he goes to the next world cup.

An easier way of dealing with this home grown quota (if it is an issue) would be to have 2 home grown back up keepers. Was that story about Turnbull true? If so I'd want him to be 3rd choice behind someone like Green, Robinson or Carson. Someone with a bit of experience who isn't complete crap.

Think he believes he could still do a job for someone if given the chance ..personally i think he was a great keeper and could do a job IF he was deemed fit enough.
