Victor Moses

Featured Replies

Hi lads just visiting with a question.

Wondering if any of you could give me the low down on young Victor Moses who is with us for the season.  I haven't seen a lot of him but the bits I have he looks pretty decent. What are his strengths and weaknesses etc.  Injury prone?

We've done well with Chelsea dealings and hopefully this deal will serve us both well, we get the player for a year so at the end you get him back with some game time and hopefully perfect nick.

I can't help feeling we do owe you a bit of a deal at some point.

Moses is a fast and dynamic winger, who, although he played a decent season, in which he scored 10 goals and even temporarily took Oscars place in the tam, couldn't fully convince. It wasn't until this preseason that Chelseafans saw the best of him. That's why I was very surprised that we got Willian and loaned him out, because he would have been the perfect squadplayer/impact sub.

I am fully convinced that he will do well for you and cement a place as a regular starter. What he does best is going past people with pace and trickery although his deliveries aren't always the best and he also still has to work on his deision making. He also got a decent shot, is physically well built and quite good at getting himself into scoring positions.

Defensively he isn't the best (I would rate Schürrle, Hazard and Oscar above him in that department), but he does his share and isn't lazy when it comes to tracking back.

Basically Sterling with stepovers.

He should do a good enough job for you guys and offer you quite a few tactical options but I don't see him breaking into the starting XI anytime soon unless of course Coutinho gets moved into the middle which frees up space on the left for Moses.

Thank you, He sounds absolutely perfect for us - these are the areas we have failed miserably with for more years than I want to remember.  There is (explicitly) no option to buy so Chelsea must rate him pretty highly.  Should be a win-win deal if we can get him settled in quickly.  We missed out on Willian and a couple of others (Costa) that would have given us a chance of some real progress this year but we have to be happy with our lot for sure.

Been mooching around your forums and you all seem pretty confident this will be a good year (with good reason I might add), would love us to get back up there amongst it this year or next, Chelsea Liverpool battles a few years back before we self destructed (again!) were magnificent.

Hmmm, don't get me wrong Sterling is a good prospect but isn't he a bit more experienced/accomplished, we only have him for a season - is he really as raw as Sterling?

He is more experienced (which is probably why he was brought in, otherwise there's really next to no difference between him and Sterling or Ibe) but he still has the same problems he did when he was around Sterling's age, which doesn't bode well for his future.

I liked him at Wigan and thought he was a good buy. He started well, but seemed to lose his way after the ACN. Maybe it was down to poor man-management by the FSW, who never seemed to have much faith in him, or maybe it was just a loss of form, but he looked pretty clueless in some games. Despite that, he still scored quite a few goals, even when he wasn't playing well.

He has ability and is a likeable player in terms of attitude, but I don't think he's top class.

I think he'll be a success at Liverpool. Not as big as Sturridge but a lot better than than Joe Cole and Borini!

At this rate our loan players are going to cost us big time !

It was daft to loan Moses to Liverpool - he's sure to link up with Sturridge and Liverpool in the top four mix would be a nightmare !

"would be a nightmare".....they are in the top 4 mix already and growing in confidence.  I agree lending Moses to Liverpool was madness I wonder who thought that was a good idea.  Of Liverpool's next 5 matches only one is against a team in the top half of the table and that is Newcastle.  Meanwhile we're playing Spurs, City are facing United....by the start of November, Liverpool could be 6 or 9 points clear

And where was Willian again last game???? Solid decisions by the club. Keep defending loaning out our young homegrown players who have produced for the 1st team when given a chance....

If we finish higher in the table than Liverpool I couldn't care less who we sell or loan to them. Sturridge wanted to leave and Moses didn't have a place in our large quality squad. If we fail to beat them in the league it is not because of Moses or Danny, it is because we have failed miserably in the league.

^Did Sturridge really want to leave or he just wasn't given a fair chance? I reckon he got tired of sitting on the bench, and can see Moses ending up there come end of the season for a pittance.

Sturridge didn't want leave when he was pleading to let him have a chance as a striker. We never gave him that chance. Stupid decision. Moses wants to be here and could easily have taken the spot of a 30 MILLION DOLLAR transfer!!! Like I have said before. I have seen Willian play more than probably everybody on here and he is overrated. Moses scores 10 goals for us as a squad player last year and this is how we treat him?? Stupid decision.

I think he asked for a move if I remember correctly. He was stuck behind Torres and saw he's never going to get a fair chance.

I'm not saying Liverpool is ideal for our guys to move but I'm sensing people are really afraid because at the moment they are in front of us and we just lost to Everton.

Sturridge wanted to leave.

Rather, I believe, we were desperate to get a fee for him, because he had six months left, and he wasn't going to sign a new contract because he never got a game up front. Saying he wanted to leave doesn't tell the full story I'm afraid, not by a long shot.

Sturridge wanted nothing more than to be a success at Chelsea, if he was treated as the number 1 striker like he should have been then he would have liked nothing more than to stay here. Also i would much rather have Moses than Willian.

I just don't understand why the people at the top are so willing to give Liverpool a helping hand.

If he didn't want to sign a new contract I think it's safe to say he didn't want to stay. Unless he was guaranteed a place in front of Torres. I don't blame him at all, I wouldn't be happy playing second fiddle to Torres either.

Bad move by us either way, we should have at least found another club to sell him to. I hope this doesn't end up happening with Moses.

The thing that bothers me the most is that I have a bad feeling Lukaku will end up in a similar situation, while we are left off trying to fix our striker problem with yet another waste of big money.

he had 18 months left on his contract.

with regards moses I just find it sickening to watch a player we own putting points on Liverpools board. I wouldn't at all be surprised if after an impressive season at Liverpool, we sell him to them for a fraction more than we paid for him.

Would Liverpool ever do the same for us if the boot was on the other foot?
