May 11, 201412 yr His first game for us was promising, after that he's been absolute sh*te, its depressing when we've been chasing games and all we've had to bring on was moses or aspas, i mean moses is clearly the better of the two but it's not exactly a ringing endorsement
May 11, 201412 yr Difficult to say what the future holds, he had promise in his first season, good against the weaker teams poorer against the better teams. He has definitely regressed this season, would only see him staying as some said above because of home grown player rules. Interesting point about big clubs and loan players, outside of Italy I can't think of a big club that has players on loan from other clubs. Maybe this is part of the reason he has found it difficult at Liverpool. The fans have been very quick to get on his back because he a player who doesn't belong to them, especially the club who have usurped them as part of Europe's elite. Another thought, will he work hard enough defensively to be in a Mourinho side? Nah he's been so lazy for us, maybe it's just because we're not his main club he doesn't care that much but his work rate has been poor
May 11, 201412 yr Maybe if we allowed a buy option at the end of the loan Brendan would of played him more.
May 11, 201412 yr He's been shipped out to Liverpool. What do you excpect? NOBODY would be happy to leave Chelsea to go Liverpool unless they've been deemed surplus, and even then, they'll go with with a heavy heart.
May 11, 201412 yr Nah he's been so lazy for us, maybe it's just because we're not his main club he doesn't care that much but his work rate has been poor You may just be confirming my point. Liverpool fans say 'He's lazy' as if he doesn't want to win the league. It's an ambiguous criticism, hard to argue for or against but shows how much easier it is to get on his back rather than some of their other players
July 28, 201411 yr We should not be loaning him out. It doesnt help us out at all. We should make one of the team interested actually buy him.
July 28, 201411 yr Taking into account Mosses qualifies as a homegrown player, I'm curious. Who would fans rather see here next season Moses or Salah? If Moses stayed we wouldn't need to sell anyone else. With Salah you've got to sell one of the foreign players as we currently have one too many.
July 28, 201411 yr This seems crazy but Forevercarefree has a point. I know Salah is still young, raw and hasn't had a 'run of games' - but from what I've seen, i'd prefer Moses any day!!!! I don't think Moses has ever done much wrong. In fact, last summers pre-season he was a 'stand out' for me. He went to the bin dippers and couldn't make an impact.... but i believe if ANY club gives him a chance, he'll do well!
July 28, 201411 yr I was so against signing Moses in the first place but he did an ok job in the one season he was with us. The problem is we have only just signed Salah so loaning him out after half a season doesnt look good. I do get your point about the home grown rule though. What is a surprise to me is these stories are coming out but he hasnt even returned to the club from his hols yet.
July 28, 201411 yr Rumours that Aston Villa wants him, hopefully he can play regular there and we can sell for a better price next summer.
July 28, 201411 yr The fee wasnt that great. We overpaid i think. It probably appeared decent at the time. Not my cuppa and I have no doubt we will make a loss selling him on.

If Moses stayed we wouldn't need to sell anyone else. With Salah you've got to sell one of the foreign players as we currently have one too many. We currently have 4 too many. I just looked at the first team and we currently have 21 players that don't qualify for the homegrown rule. 4 will need to go. Marin will be one of them for sure. Mikel will have to be another. One of Romeu or Van Ginkel will have to go out on loan. That leaves 1 more. I think it should be Torres but i don't think we can sell him. I don't really want us to sell anyone else but we may be forced too.

I personally think the writing is on the wall for Mikel, when you factor in his wages and expected playing time etc I think he will be one of the midfielders to be deemed surplus to requirements. Bit of left field thinking on my part but I don't think Ramires place is safe either... Fabregas is here now to play alongside Matic and we've just handed Romeu a new 3 year deal and van Ginkel was one of Mourinho's signings. Personally I'm not ruling out Torres leaving, Costa's signing is essentially Mourinho saying "this is my striker" and then bringing in Drogba for experience suggests he really wasn't happy with the forwards last year... If Jose makes it abundently clear that Torres is minimum behind those two in the pecking order and possibly looking to integrate Lukaku too then maybe, just maybe... Torres is going to be forced out.
July 28, 201411 yr Lets hope so. Theres just no way Roman and his advisors can heap any pressure of Jose to play Torres as he is so utterly useless. Maybe his time might finally be up... I just don't see who would be crazy enough to buy him. Edited July 28, 201411 yr by Zola

I`m not so sure about the Romeu/Van Ginkel thing, Jose has been playing the latter much more advanced so he is an option all over midfield and a very useful one. I would say its more likely to be Romeu on loan or Mikel sold.

July 28, 201411 yr I'm tired of us loaning players out who clearly have no future with us, just sell him and bring in a small bit of money.
July 28, 201411 yr Moses wasn't even used that much at Liverpool, iirc. If Villa are interested in him, then sell him to them. NO more loans,.

Problems could be a lack of interest in him, Villa have no money to spend and Moses may not be quite willing to move on for a smaller wage. At least with a loan we get some money back.

At least with a loan we get some money back. That's a fair point, but I'm sure that the club has to, at some point, consider just cutting their losses and moving on
