June 23, 20197 yr Interesting that Lukaku is apparently keen on joining Inter too. I think he was Conte's first choice to replace Costa but we were too slow in offering Everton a deal and were blindsided by United's massive offer. I used to believe Morata was Conte's first choice for us because they both worked together at Juventus. But after seeing how desperate Inter are to get Lukaku after signing a deal with Conte, I have come to the same conclusion. Conte actually wanted Lukaku, but our board were reluctant to make the deal happen so we ended up with sh*t Morata.
June 23, 20197 yr I think it was more down to the fact Jose offered him guaranteed game time no matter what and Conte didn't. Either way, thankf**k we missed out on him.Seriously? He always a better player than Morata. And trust me, Lukaku would have fit in better here in Conte's team than at United.

As I said two wrongs don't make a right. It was failing to sign Lacazette that I regret from that summer, not failing to sign Lukaku.

I don't really get Lacazette tbh. The guy has the PL scoring record like 2 off Morata and half the output of Giroud in the EL.

That's an interesting perspective because I've always rated him since his Lyon days and I actually think he's the better player between him and Auba, especially in the big games. Maybe our striker situations of this decade bar two Diego Costa season's is giving me striker blind spots.
June 23, 20197 yr I looked up Lafayette's stats earlier played 35, scored 13, assists 8 so something positive in 21 out of the 35 in the league or 60% in the League. Not brilliant yet not sloppy either. What we need to recognise with Lacazette is he plays up front with Auba not leading the line on his own. It's like comparing apples and oranges instead of apples and apples.

Laca defo started of slow, but last season was very good for Arsenal and deserved their player of the year.

Lacazette was cheaper and a better player than both. He would have been a much better fit for our needs too. Great all round player. But that summer was a clusterf**k. Obviously Emenalo was on his way out and he and Marina weren't getting along. Then you had Conte trying to influence transfers and do things his way. It turned into a disaster.

October 16, 20205 yr His top level career is over if even Conte doesn't want him for a second season. It's been a pretty good one though, won the prem being a first choice player, FA Cup, Europa League and AFCON with Nigeria.
October 17, 20205 yr I remember when he first burst on the scene.. was with Wigan I think .. very direct and pact.. but never quite developed.. in one of the early games he really turned a declining Ashley Cole inside out a couple of times..

May 3, 20215 yr Given that we are now playing 5 at the back, IF this system continues, do you think there is merit in keeping Moses around next season? He excelled in that system during the conte reign, and for me he remains a better option for back up RWB than Dave.
May 3, 20215 yr He was under rated as a right wing back for us though. He was better there than playing on the wing for us. Hudson Odoi i feel is the same, better RWB than playing further forward. Hopefully Moses can get a permanent move in the summer.
May 11, 20215 yr It would appear that Spartek Moscow yesterday confirmed qualification for next seasons CL That fact means Spartek now have an obligation to turn Victor Moses loan into a permanent deal with an already agreed fee of £4 million on top of the £500k loan fee I think we paid Wigan £9 -£10 million for Victor and as we all know he has had loan after loan and with that each loan has entailed a fee with his time at Liverpool, WHU and Stoke alone bringing in in total around £3 million. With fees from Spartek, Inter Milan and Fenebarche probably amounting to around another Million So in ball park figures in fees it seems VM has probably cost again at worse a couple of million which when you consider he was first choice under Conte is incredible. I thought that he never reached the level of his potential but all in all he has had a decent career and who knows he might just be playing against us next season Edited May 11, 20215 yr by terraloon
May 11, 20215 yr Football is a funny little thing isn't it? Basically, whenever Moses stayed within our ranks we won a title. 😳

He had an exceptional season there when we won the league, and I don't think Chelsea fans underrate his contribution.
May 11, 20215 yr Bit of a raw deal if Spartak have to cough up £4m considering he only played 9 games this season
