January 26, 20197 yr Surprised it took this long to cut him loose, what's happening with Drinkwater now, still with the under 18s? He was never going to make it at Chelsea until Conte decided to play the back 3, to be fair he was one of the more consistent player during the Conte's era, just Sarri not fancing him at all.
January 26, 20197 yr All the best to him. Not a top class player by any means but had a fantastic season as a converted wingback under Conte. Seemed to have a great attitude. Hope he has a successful time out in Turkey.
January 26, 20197 yr Ffs Backbiter I always mistakenly read your name as pillowbiter instead of backbiter!
January 28, 20197 yr Best of luck Victor! Sorry that you never managed your ultimate goal of moving to Barcelona.
January 29, 20197 yr Good to see that he has found a new home in Turkey. The fans already love him. Best of luck!

January 30, 20197 yr I'm surprised there wasn't more demand for him, given a lot of clubs still like using 3atb and he's a decent winger in the bottom half PL level i thought he would be seen as something of a coup for a few PL teams.
May 23, 20197 yr For his sake I hope he lands a good club to continue his career. Stellar professional. Edited May 23, 20197 yr by Valerie

May 24, 20197 yr Isn't Moses on an 18 month loan at the moment? I don't know what the rules are if a club wants to sign a player on a permanent deal but they are currently tied into a loan deal? Would the club loaning the player be entitled to some sort of compensation?

May 26, 20197 yr No disrespect to the Turkish club yet it would be good to see Moses under Conte again to see if his standard would be good enough in Serie A.

June 21, 20197 yr No surprise that Inter Milan have been linked to Moses. It's clear that Conte remains a big fan of his.

Interesting that Lukaku is apparently keen on joining Inter too. I think he was Conte's first choice to replace Costa but we were too slow in offering Everton a deal and were blindsided by United's massive offer.

I think it was more down to the fact Jose offered him guaranteed game time no matter what and Conte didn't. Either way, thankf**k we missed out on him.

He wanted to play with Pogba. There were lots of social media posts of the two of them leading up to his transfer there.

There was but even with his friendship with Pogba I feel we still had a chance. As we saw with his departure from us initially, his big motivation is getting a starting spot handed to him on a plate and given Jose always started him and never subbed him off for the duration of his first season my educated guess is that's what swung the deal in United's favour. He would have been bought as Costa's replacement. We knew Conte wasn't a big fan of Michy B, Lukaku would have known he was coming as first choice... You don't pay £75m for a striker for them not to be. We were to slow off the mark to make a solid offer to Everton and United's transfer fee, contract offer and willingness to pay hefty agent fees completely blew us out of the water. We would have been much better off signing Lukaku than Morata.

I'm still guessing Conte didn't guarantee him an untouchable status (it's just not his style) whereas Jose is more open to those type of guarantees (as demonstrated by his untouchables comment here the first time and excessive use of Ivanovic the second time) offered him those type of promises backed up by the fact he didn't sub him off and never failed to start him when fit. Yes we were slow of the mark, but I feel had Conte made such promises we would have got him despite that, suffice to say I'm glad he didn't. 43 minutes ago, ForeverCarefree said: We would have been much better off signing Lukaku than Morata. Two wrongs don't make a right. Neither are good enough for the top level and are super subs at absolute best. I was estatic when we didn't sign Lukaku. We should have gone for Lacazette that summer if anyone.
