Exactly, hard to say for sure but he just didn't seem 100% focused or committed to his football and he stagnated as a result.

He's doing ok. There's a thread about this in the 'youth' section. He's holding up well!

Personaly i think it was AvB coming in who didn't play him and then the failed loan at Swansea that got him. Think it knocked his confidence right back, especially not playing for Swansea. He could have been world-class by now if his development continued the way it started during Ancelotti. Shame really, but best of luck.

Too many managers, too many failed loans and seemingly not enough hunger/humility. Shame, the talent was clearly there.

As others have said, I think a move to La Liga would have been better for him. 

It's a good move for all parties concerned. Josh needs a fresh start elsewhere without having the pressure of being a Chelsea player and this might be a wake-up call to him that he needs to make something out of himself now or else his career will be a dismal failure which is a shame considering his talent.

There's no doubt that much of this is self-inflicted on Josh's behalf! I think his promising start went to his head and wasn't as committed or dedicated to working harder hence he's been on the receiving of failed loan moves in the past few years.

 

I have nothing against the kid and I always hoped he would succeed but this is a good move for all parties involved. Chelsea don't have to worry about him now after giving numerous chances to fire and Josh can start in a fresh environment knowing full well that it's make or break for him in his career now.

I can't help but feel if Carlo were still in charge, Josh would be a first team regular by now.

Shame he could'nt make it with us...I always felt there was a good player there fighting to get out, I'm just not sure he had the will and desire to impose himself.
