January 30, 201511 yr Most Bayern fans i kno never liked Schurlle but I thought he would become Reus level at Chelsea. I kno Wolfsburg are rising but Schurlle is lookin like a Marin 3.0
January 30, 201511 yr Apparently his agent has said it will be done by tonight slow your roll bro the transfer of Chelsea's Andre Schurrle will take some time. "It lacks the signatures," said Wolfsburg Sporting Director Klaus Allofs. I guess there are some personal issues that Wolfsburg needs to address before everything goes through.
January 30, 201511 yr Looks almost certain now, Quite sad about this seems a really nice guy and terrific footballer when he's on it, For some reason he obviously doesn't fit in to Jose's plans good luck to him (just not against us).
January 30, 201511 yr The thing with Schurrle is he has a great knack of scoring goals,he always seems to be there rebound etc and his movement off the ball is fantastic players like him that are hard to find. His goal record everywhere he has been and for Germany is impressive, even last season for us he got i think 11 goals which in your debut season in England being in out of the team is impressive. Even this season his goal record is good for the amount of starts he has had. Thats why club are willing to pay big bucks for him and i just hope our other attacking players can step up and replace his goals. Mourinho summed him up best when he said "Sometimes he plays phenomenal. Other times plays so-so. But when he plays phenomenal, he is phenomenal." I think thats spot on Schurrle is either really good or useless there is no middle ground or consistency. This season he has been poor and with his lack of tight control and technique he seems quite weak physically and struggles to get up and down the pitch like Willian and Oscar etc and i think Mourinho has lost faith in him. Shame because i really like Schurrle and i had the feeling that Schurrle really wanted to do well for us, but you can't blame him for wanting to go and play more football. Seems like Mourinho sells all the players i like, getting rid of all Emenalo buys.
January 30, 201511 yr IMHO this transfer is all about money & signal of intent by Wolfsburg. At CFC, Schurrle is just a squad player. At Wolfsburg, Schurrle will be a Star on a side that is rising in it's ambitions. If Zie German goes, I will wish him happy trails. If he does go remember he scored in his debut & his farewell match for The Blues.
January 30, 201511 yr it's a tough one to take, but i suppose these kinds of transfers, like mata last year, are necessary to allow us to continue to sign the great talents that we have been getting the last couple of years. swings and roundabouts. if mata hadnt gone, we wouldnt have costa now. schurrle going looks like sealing cuadrado. it's a ruthless approach getting rid of good players, but it's working.
January 30, 201511 yr Really like the guy and he impressed me last season, but you just knew it was over when he was getting hacked off at half time. Tough to take, but when you have one of the best young players in the world at left mid it's gonna be difficult to nail down a place
January 30, 201511 yr I guess I was a bit late in my theory of Wolfsburg's signal of intent. Currently they are leading at the half vs Bayern 2-0 The addition of Schurrle will only strengthen their resolve Edited January 30, 201511 yr by robdog
January 30, 201511 yr De Bruyne having a quality game by the sound of it, i wish we still had De Bruyne.
January 30, 201511 yr De Bruyne having a quality game by the sound of it, i wish we still had De Bruyne. Whenever he played he was good, I didn't understand why we even sold him however I heard it was something to do with him and Courtois, apparently his girlfriend left him for Courtois or something. Edit: And what do you know he has just scored, 3-0 to Wolfsburg. Edited January 30, 201511 yr by Slawth

I remember it was the 2-0 against Hull where Oscar and Lampard scored, unless you mean pre-season.

Yeah I was meaning the Pre-Season match - Zie German stroked in a sweet right footed volley into the net vs AC Milan Here are the highlights Edited January 30, 201511 yr by robdog
January 31, 201511 yr Was very critical of Schurrle's performances for a large chunk of last season, but he's a very likeable guy. Always comes accross as genuinely enthusiastic about the club, cheerful in interviews and a very nice guy. I have to say, though, a little disappointed in his departure. The best finisher in the box after Costa Imho, and better movement than his rivals. His dribbling is normally poor though, as well as his ball retention, but I still think (like a lot of people) that he offers a different, more direct option and could have been an important player. Always seems to be in good positions to score and has netted in some big games as well.
January 31, 201511 yr Another correct call by Jose for me. De Bryune, Luiz and Schurrle. I wasn't that impressed with any of them personally. Different story with Mata but even that looks to be yet another well thought out decision now. In Jose we trust. Edited January 31, 201511 yr by just
January 31, 201511 yr I agree with this completely, I just don't feel confident when we need a moment of quality and look to the bench that Schurrle can provide it. We're getting a good price for him by the sounds of it and this can hopefully be spent on someone that can make more of a consistent impact.
January 31, 201511 yr It's kind of funny how against signing him I was, but how sad I am to see him go. Objectively, this is best for us and him though. He's going to an ambitious club where he can feature and mature, while we can acquire a player that fits our system better.

I was against signing him because I thought he was going to take Hazard out of the team, eventually I really took to the guy and I was desperate for him to be played at striker, seeing as it took until the middle of October for one of our strikers to score a league goal. He lost possession a lot and led the league in shots (most from outside the box) while Kiessling was leading the league in goals right beside him. I wanted to see him at striker too, but he never looked comfortable enough staying central. In a counterattacking team that gives him the freedom to roam, he could fulfill his ambitions, but I feel like he'd always be rejecting his instincts and playing timidly in our squad.
January 31, 201511 yr Was never a fan and happy enough to see him go for decent money. His good points ( movement and goal scoring) do not out weigh his many weaknesses, (decision making, tackling, wreck less shooting).

January 31, 201511 yr Did anyone else see him in the dugout? I swear i saw him sitting next to luis; he was wearing a beanie hat. Maybe my eyes were deceiving me, but seems odd, as he apparently flew out to Wolfsburg. Edited January 31, 201511 yr by enigma
January 31, 201511 yr I saw Salah. Not sure about Schurrle. Would've beem a better option on the bench than Izzy Brown and Co. A bit of pace towards the end maybe.

Wouldn't be the first time they showed a wrong bench. Don't know which match it was but not so long ago they showed a bench with Costa on MOTD while he was still playing on the field in that minute.
