Zouma - If Kurt's Happy, I'm Happy!

He landed awkwardly going for a header with Zatan how does that's got anything to do with intensity and tearing a ACL. Zouma is still one of the best prospect around at CB and is for me ahead of Christensen barring with ball at his feet that's the only advantage Christensen has. Zouma bullied pretty much every forward he played against until the injury, Christensen gets bumped off the ball by physical forwards, and can be beaten for pace which Zouma also has.

I think he fell awkardly because he wasn't well positioned to go for the ball in the first place. That's what I mean by intensity, his willingness to go for the ball when it perhaps didn't make sense to do so is what caused the injury.

I don't get all the hype for Zouma. Very likeable personality for sure, but he's a pretty average centre back for me, in the same bucket as Hector, Omeruo, Miazga, Kalas, and Tomori.

We can do better.

That season he hurt himself, he was way above that level. He was already better than Cahill and was really making the position his own. I don't understand how people seem to be writing him off as if that never happened.

There is reason most of the big gun's around Europe were after him when he was in France. Zouma before injury was waaaay above all mentioned he displaced Cahill and was on course to be one of best, he had all the attributes just injured at the wrong time then Conte came in and didn't need him.
I suspect if he gets back to his old level Jose will come calling again

I don't understand all this negativity, tbh. Pre-injury Zouma was a beast - strong, mobile, fast, played on different positions. He is not the best passer indeed, but he played DM for long time, that means he can find a way to deliver the ball by dribbling through opponents, it's not necessary to pass it. His game was totally cleared from mistakes, unlike Christensen. I believe physically and mentally he is superior to Andreas and we should at least be considering to give him another chance. Selling him without this opportunity would be a very d*ck move.

He wasn't totally cleared from mistakes, he was often caught out positionally. And he was decent but he wasn't as great as people were making out, the desperation for Cahill to be dropped led to mass exaggerations.

I remember the fall differently,I remember Zatan either bending over and Zouma going over him which happens in every single football match

Actually checking the injury video surprise surprise it was that thug fallani who nugded him as he went for the ball. Zouma eye's firmly on the ball Fallani looking at the man

He's not actually bad on the ball though he just looks awkward, i think it would be a big mistake to sell him.

I agree Zouma is better on the ball than people make out and he just looks awkward however we have much better players and players coming through, so for the sake of Zouma's career its probably best if he goes.

If Rugani is signed we have Rugani, Christensen, Ampadu who should all rightly be ahead of him in the coming years.

We also have Cahill, Luiz and Rudiger. We have way too many CBs. Zouma and Cahill need to go, sadly. We need to allow a little space for Ampadu to come through.

Exactly, i was looking at the long term options as i imagine Cahill will be moved on this summer with Luiz seeing out his contract and leaving next year. That leaves us with Rudiger (26), Christensen (23), Rugani (24), Ampuadu (18) at the start of next season. Could possibly give D.Luiz another 1 year deal if he works this season as he'll still only be 32 y/o.

No room for Zouma and at 23, alomst 24 y/o he needs regular playing time for his own sake.

I would be happy going into the season with Rudiger, David Luiz, Christiensen, and Ampadu.

Cahill won't be able to play in this system, he isn't comfortable enough on the ball.

Zouma I would loan out. He has talent, but his stock isn't high enough at the market, to make a sale worth while.

Rugani would be nice to have, but for the fee now being touted, I think I would rather see it go towards a striker, right winger, or attacking midfielder.

Ampadu is future captain material. He's young but, I feel he is already good enough.

With Manchester United reportedly looking at all sorts of centre backs, I wonder if anyone at CFC has considered offering Zouma (instead of Willian), plus cash, for Martial ? JM was a big fan of Zouma, signing him, giving him his debut and a run in the team ... etc etc. Could be the sort of deal where everyone's Happy :)

Where is Zouma? Should keep him rather than look for another CB.

He is probably our 6th choice centre back right now behind Rudiger, Luiz, Christensen, Cahill and Ampadu.

Personally I think we should sell him.

Plus Zouma isn't guaranteed to get in Utd starting eleven either. But disagree i wouldn't sell.

Can’t keep loaning our over 23 year old players, we need to make our mind up & move on. That is why we have ended up with a bloated square. You sell him & add on either a buyback/ sell-on clause.

Keep him and sell Cahill. Give Azpi the captaincy.

I'd like to allow him the chance to see if Sarri can do something with him similar to how he improved Koulibaly. Zouma has that physicality and no nonsense defending which would come in useful among our other defenders.

Looking at players like Zouma it makes you realise you really do need a lot of luck to become a top class footballer. If it wasn’t for the injury, I’m certain Zouma would be one of our best defenders. Such a shame, reminds me of Essien, and Torres for Liverpool. Never nice to see bad injuries ruin players.

Somebody else will need to leave for Zouma to fit in because of the homegrown rules. We are already at 17 non-homegrown players, is there any player in the squad we should sell to fit Zouma in? The only realistic way for him to fit in now is if we sold Courtois and bought in a homegrown goalkeeper.

Everton want him on loan reportedly.

Just sell and stop these pointless loan deals. They wouldn’t try it with a foreign club and have never done us any favours before.
