Kenneth Omeruo's impressing.....

Featured Replies

Interesting reading the statements, as some say things ranging from "Sol Campbell Mk II" or that he is too short.  WHile others are saying that he defends, and defends very well, or that he'll take over from Terry in years.

Always interesting to see.  I hope Ake gets more appearances too.

I will type this again - The kid looked good this past summer when he played for Nigeria. Actually in both the ACN & the Confederation's Cup. I like to remind people on this good board that Omeruo put Cavani in his pocket a couple of times when Nigeria played Uruguay. The kid has already played in some big matches & I think he could grow to be a fixture in our defense. He is very young, but already showing the skill it takes to stop the Best Attackers on the planet. He will get some time here @ CFC. Remember Jose wants to build a Dynasty here. I am starting to think that this next 10 years will be an awesome time for us Chelsea fans.

It's quite worrying though; when terry finally retires we'll only have 1 English player in defence. I remember when 3 out of the back four were English. In the future it will be either Zouma/Omerou with Cahill/Ivanovic, then mostly likely azpi and another foreigner on the opposite flank. Lampard will be gone soon and then we'll need to replace him. I don't want our team to become another Man City. At least the other top teams have a few english players in their squads.

This is why I can see us going for Shaw in the summer.

If we buy Shaw we'll have a first choice English LB and CB.  Chalobah has every chance of making it in this team as well, either as a midfielder or a CB.

From and currently living in Middlesbrough and a lot of the fans here have said good things about him. It's been a stressful season at the club but he is one of the players who is getting praised.

Can't exactly be playing bad then.

I can't claim to have seen him play but at 6 foot 1 he is the same height as John Terry and has a few inches on 5'9  Fabio  Cannavaro (who won the Ballon'dor in 2006)

Height isn't an issue but ability is. Hopefully this his can replace JT

Last summer Mourinho was asked about Chalobah and he said something like 'He's a Chelsea player, for sure'. Jose appears to have a particular affinity for central midfielders and Chalobah looks to have all the attributes and potential needed to play for us in the pivot.

I might be reading into this a little too much but, if you recall, before Mourinho had officially returned last summer he was spotted at Wembley watching the Championship Playoff Final between Watford and Crystal Palace. Naturally his presence at that game seemed particularly curious and the only logical explanation was that he was there to scout Chalobah. Or perhaps he was bored and had some time to kill before his flight back to Madrid. But whatever the case, I think Chalobah's got a very bright future at Chelsea.

If that is the case, I hope Lewis Baker gets a chance in the first team again. I really think Baker has a bundle of potential and Mourinho, in my opinion, is the guy to bring out the best in him.

@EverythingMFC Omerou, been like a brick wall at the back! #Boromarchplayerofthemonth

Great win today. Defence absolutely rock solid, Gibson & Omerou outstanding

Good win for @Boro today was not a vintage performance but a welcome 3 point and another clean sheet, I thought Omerou & Gibson were great!

Good reviews of Kenneth Omerou & @chalobah @Boro on loan from @chelseafc. Boro with Aitor Karanka 25 games, 19 against, only 12 this year.

And have to say Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo is turning into a top, top defensive prospect. Very impressive form at Middlesbrough.

I must say this run of clean sheets @boro are on at the moment is incredible. @omeruo22 is immense and huge talent for the future #beast

Dear @chelseafc can we please keep @chalobah and at @omeruo22 on loan for another season? #Topclassplayers from everyone @Boro

Borough have been racking up clean sheets but they can't just can't seem to score. Must've gone on a record breaking goal-less stretch of games.

Back to Chelsea though, it would be good to see some more English players. Hate the idea of putting out a starting 11 with no Englishman in it. (Another reason I hate the Sturridge treatment).

Terry

Lampard

Cole

All at the end.

Leaves only Cahill as an established player.

Bring in Shaw, retain one of PvA or Bertrand, bring in Lallana? Promote Chalobah to Mikel's role. Premier league loan till Christmas for Bamford?

Shaw

Barkley

Lallana

Only English players worthy of a look at the moment.

I think Barkley would get a little lost in our team at the moment, he still needs a bit of time. Lallana would be a good signing but i dont think he would join us over some of the other teams that will be in for him this summer. I could be wrong but with us he will have a challenge of fighting for his place but if he went to Spurs or United he would walk straight into their teams.

Thanks for posting :)

Exciting!

I like Lallana a lot, not sure about Barkley just yet. Problem is, I don't see where Lallana will fit in with the many AMs we have. Shaw and Azpi as fullbacks would be great. One player I have really admired while he's been here is Ramires.

Always defended him, but recently his passing, getting booked, and general play has become incredibly frustrating. Unless he gets it together again, I won't be too dissapointed to see him go, as it just looks like Rambo is holding the team back these days.

I could see Barkley replacing lamps, playing next to matic...quality player on the ball, can get forward but also strong in the tackle...can't see what lallana would offer different to what we already have, especially with the talent we have on loan

Just saw on the club's facebook page that he's signed a new 4 year deal, I wonder if he's part of the first team plans this seaosn.

The club must have given in to his wage demands then.

It makes me a bit sad when the kids are demanding more money from their contracts when they havent even played for the first team.

He kind of deserves his new contract, an established international won the ACN, Played on Confeds cup, going to the World Cup? Those are some great credentials.

Deserves a chance, but think a PL loan this season is a must.

Good to see Middlesborough really taking care of and appreciating both Omeruo and Chalobah, a huge thanks to them and hopefully they will stay and progress further for another season.

Pity the same can't be said for Vitesse/Piazon and Liverpool/Moses.
