The John Terry Appreciation Thread

Featured Replies

This is the same Cech_Hook who was having a go at Lampard in the other thread. I'm not even sure he's a Chelsea fan.

And in another thread I also said I went up to Sunderland to watch us draw 0-0. You don't make such trips if you ain't a Chelsea fan.

Honestly the bias and bull>#^* that sole people type on here is incredible. Anyone who shows a sense of being impartial is accused of not being a Chelsea fan.

Anywhoo , yes I slagged Lampard off, the guy who is playing for Man City NOT Chelsea. Jose said the love story is over and I agree fully. He chose to play for City and chose to what looks a certainty to extend his contract. He also chose to score against us and even when some dumb Chelsea fans still claimed he regretted scoring, blindly failed to recognise that he was still trying to score a second, popping off shots left right and centre. Lampard at City doesn't sit well with me, unlike Gerrard, he doesn't need a Prem title. He's just a sly sucker who went to City through the back door.

If you want to smile and clap every time he scores a goal for City and call someone a plastic for slagging him off, look yourself in the mirror and you'll see the word 'contradiction' above your head.

Terry himself said that he used the words "black c**t" but nobody seems to want to take any notice of context. Terry said it AFTER being accused of saying it. Terry said that he said it sarcastically back to Ferdinand because Ferdinand had accused him of saying it. And to be honest, after everything Ferdinand had been saying in that game to Terry, it wouldn't surprise me if he had accused Terry of being a racist at some point.

And he didn't have an affair with Bridge's missus, he ALLEGEDLY had an affair with Bridge's EX missus. People deliberately leave out the words allegedly and ex just so they can have a go at Terry.

Wow, I can't believe people are still falling for this.

Listen, I love JT as much as the next guy but the myopic views to defend him are shocking. I don't like the Ferdinands either, but I also know how to be fair and use my common sense instead of club bias to understand why he gets stick. Ferdinand didn't accuse him of nothing as he didn't even hear JT call him what he did.

JT knew he couldn't deny saying what he did as it was so obvious. The only way he could defend himself is by saying he thought he heard the other player accuse him of saying it, even though Anton never said such a thing or heard JT say it to him in the first place, hence why it wasn't him who made the initial complaint.

Oh and as for Bridges missus. Yes you are correct, she was Bridges ex, but there is no denying he had an affair with her.

It's much better being a Chelsea fan when you can slag off ex players helping our big rivals and refrain from being blind to any of our players misdemeanors.

christ, not this sh*t again. if you want to have your girly chats please stick to the magazines like Hello! or OK!. or maybe go on mumsnet or some other vacuous forum.

Nothing wrong with accepting that JT is a flawed human being (like all of us) but that's hardly that interesting is it? He's having an amazing season and showing what a true leader he is on the pitch. The fact that people are finally seeing past this other stuff and giving him the credit he deserves is wonderful.

Yeah he really is the greatest defender the prem has ever seen. Over 10 years at world class elite level. Not many if any defenders have lasted so consistently long as the best.

Not worth debating this on here fella. JT is innocent on both the Fredinand and Bridge sagas here and they are all part of the general anti JT/anti Chelsea conspiracy in the media. That's pretty much the consensus on here.

I think some people don't get that you can believe that JT used racist language and had an affair, though still love Chelsea and JT. In fact, he is my favourite ever Chelsea player.

Being a Chelsea fan, I know all the good JT has done on and off the pitch and he always comes across as somebody who would give you the time of day if you were to meet him. When your family member or best friends muck up, do you turn their back on them? No, you stick by them just like we and I'm sure some players did with JT and he definitely appreciates that.

But to deny he did anything is almost koo-koo and entering the rocky scouse road.

I know it's water under the bridge, and it's way in the past. So happy he scored again yesterday. To think 2 years ago, Rafa Benitez was trying to force him out of the league.

P.S. If anybody brings up the 'he was found innocent in court' argument. Fine, but he had an excellent legal team who formed a great case. There's no denying he used certain words, which he even admitted. In spite of the content the FA have to act on it.

Spot on Mactheknife.

Just because you criticise a player or are aware of a time when they were in the wrong, it doesn't mean you cannot appreciate them and still laud their greatness on the pitch and lessons learned off it.

We badly need JT fit for the whole season if we want any success.

Yeah Cech seems like we're on the same page on this one.

If he were injured for a long period of time, we'd struggle big time. I don't think Cahill has it in him to organise a back 4 over a number of games.

I see there are still a few tin foil hatters out there determined that Terry was guilty in spite of all evidence (or lack of it)!

He was found not guilty because the whole case was absurd to begin with. A crime with no witnesses and no injured parties. No one heard what was said, not even the alleged victim, but nevertheless it's amazing how so many can speak with such certainty about it.

As for the Bridge affair, the woman in question denied it and actually received an apology from a newspaper for printing the allegations.

Back to terry the footballer... Wow, just wow... JT has never ever got the credit he deserves... Im the 2003-2010 period the fashionable thing to do was to a credit JT defensive partner for Chelsea brilliant defensive displays, we saw Marcel, gallas, Ricky, Alex and now GC come and mostly go. But it was down to the variable... That argument kind of lost steam a few years ago and now people scrape the barrel with finding better alternatives.. The new popular one is kompany is better and Rik was better... Let's ignore the fact the other two make far more mistakes the JT.. I heard the same about pique once..

I've always loved defending, think it's a massively underappriciated part of the game probably thanks to tika taka. But for me watching a devastatingly imposing center back is just as good as watching Messi slamlem his way through half the pitch.. Mattius sammer, Marcel Desailly, fabio canevaro.. That's the company I put JT in for defenders over the last two decades..

If I have one critasisem of the game yesterday it's that on a couple of occasions I saw GC on the wrong side of the striker and having to make recovery blocks.. Also swung aimlessly at a cross at one point.. This is stuff you never see of JT, focus, leadership, ability... Basically, when he hangs up his boots we are funked... He's a once in a generation player

It's always worth remembering that when JT came through he had a World Cup-winning centre half partnership in front of him. A tall order for any young player. Yet he took the opportunity to learn from Desailly and Leboeuf, and by the age of 22 he'd broken up that partnership.

Could you play at that level with all that weight on your shoulders? Media constantly telling you that you're a c**t, opposition fans wanting your head every time you touch the ball. Yeah he might get a big pay check but he's playing at the top of his game consistently. Easily the most coordinated and organized centre back in the league by a mile, never out of position.

He has to perform at a high standard despite having that huge pressure on him, yet he still does it game in game out, he's been against some of the best players in the world, what a legend he is, I just hope he keeps performing this way for many years to come, he is looking almost irreplaceable.

He is irreplaceable. The whole effect JT gives Chelsea is something that we will never probably be able to replace... having a leader that has the same authority like him on the pitch is rare, having a role model like him for youngsters to learn from is rare, having a world class legendary defender like him is rare, having the same defender play for 16 (and growing of course)  years in the senior club and graduate from the academy is rare.

Having the whole package? only JT can pull that off.

I can't fathom how anyone can believe that JT's a racist when all the evidence is to the contrary. He's been playing for Chelsea for ages, first captained the team more than 13 years ago and in all that time he had zero issues with any of our players from a different ethnicity (of which I'd guess we had dozens from different nations), in fact he gained the respect (and in cases friendship) of international superstar egos. Can you imagine Desailly, Drogba, Essien and their like being all chummy with a racist? No, neither can I.

Jose confirms he's going to get another year.

Now that's what I call a Christmas present.

He should get a contract stating he's here for 'life' until he decides to retire and then he can stay with the club as a member of the coaching staff!

John Terry will be talked about for generations to come! He's right up there with the very best in our club's history!

He should get a contract stating he's here for 'life' until he decides to retire and then he can stay with the club as a member of the coaching staff!

Everyone knows that, it's just a rolling argument about the wages ;)
