The John Terry Appreciation Thread

Featured Replies

His misdemenours on and off the pitch has cost him the respect of so many rival fans which is a terrible shame.

Oh well best thing he can do is win the title and shove another medal in their faces.

Oh no, not this again. We've been through this many, many times. Please don't dredge it up from the gutters, I'm begging you.

But that title would be nice :-)

What on pitch misdemeanors would these be?

Don't tell me the Loftus Road incident... The one where the law of the land said he's innocent but a kangaroo court making it up as they went along said otherwise?

Off the pitch? Alleged affair that was denied by all parties involved? Got drunk one evening after 9/11?

He's the media's pantomime villain and it's strange that he's been targeted by our nations media.

Look at the current England captain, he's known to have cheated on his wife with prostitutes, at one time whilst his wife was pregnant and yet he was still deemed fit to captain his country... No hypocrisy there when JT was stripped of the captaincy, oh no.

Ryan Giggs? 8 year affair with his sister in law, yet we barely hear a peep about that in among the "Premier League legend" stuff.

I'm not saying that JT is a shining example but I've always been baffled by the treatment he gets from the media and opposition fans alike considering he is no worse than many others within the sport.

Look lets all take our blue tinted glasses off for a second. Despite him getting off from the court we all know what JT said to Anton. JT even knows himself, as he never actually came out with what he actually said.   And yes also the affair with Bridges missus. The thing with JT is that the accumulation of misdemeanours has given him this villain  tag.

Ryan Giggs is a scumbag and I agree has been let off lightly by the media and everyone else. What hes done is far wors than JT and he gets away with it.

Oops I didn't see this comment before I replied!

I read this morning that JT has scored in the league each season for the last 15 years.

Last night was his 60th goal for us. That would be a respectable total for a midfielder, but very impressive for a centre half who doesn't take penalties or free kicks.

Terry himself said that he used the words "black c**t" but nobody seems to want to take any notice of context. Terry said it AFTER being accused of saying it. Terry said that he said it sarcastically back to Ferdinand because Ferdinand had accused him of saying it. And to be honest, after everything Ferdinand had been saying in that game to Terry, it wouldn't surprise me if he had accused Terry of being a racist at some point.

And he didn't have an affair with Bridge's missus, he ALLEGEDLY had an affair with Bridge's EX missus. People deliberately leave out the words allegedly and ex just so they can have a go at Terry.

Quite simply one of the best centre backs this country has ever produced and he's still one of the very best around even at 34. His game has never been about pace, he has always had a quicker player alongside him to cover him. If he can keep himself fit he can keep playing for many years to come. LEGEND.

You're right. He's more of a cerebral defender type, almost the exact opposite of someone like David Luiz. With the right partner (Cahill is not bad), he can definitely carry on for a bit.

He has shown that he is twice the defender Rio always was, when Rio was his age he was playing absolutely sh*t for Man United, JT is still the best centre back in the league.

And to think Benitez thought he was finished....

Jose knows

26 should be retired when he finally decides to hang up his boots. Hopefully that won't be until another few seasons though!

It just shows how stupid Benitez is. Imagine if he was still our manager..............Terry would have probably either retired or left.

Having Terry still playing is one of the MANY positives of having Mourinho instead of Benitez.

Definitely up there with Maldini and Zambrotta in the pantheon of two-footed defensive greats. Naturally we should be looking to win the Champions League again to pad out his trophy count...
