Whether it be bad refs, bad luck, near misses, importance of match etc. What loss annoyed or stung you the most in chelsea history? The one game that annoys me to this day is the champions league 2nd leg at stamford bridge against barcelona in 2009.
We had a lot of shots on target with only one going in, barca had like two shots and one went in and barca go through on the ridiculous away goals rule.
Obviously my main gripe was the worst reffing performance I had ever seen at our expense by that norweigen fellow who denied us 4 penalties and a chance to avenge the previous year's champions league final loss aginst man utd.

What is with all these Nostalgic threads? I've so far seen this thread, our best win during the Roman era, and how long certain managers should have lasted during the Roman era.

Is today a day to reminisce or something??

Leicester City draw at home. Sod of guppy. Not a defeat but felt like it.

Barca (H) 2009 without a doubt. I was watching highlights of that match the other day and it got to the point where I was pissing myself laughing because of how blatant it was that we were being cheated.

That and Ballack going absolutely radge at the ref  :laugh2:

Losing 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace in the 76 FAC. Then there was the League Cup defeat at their place in the early 90's, the Sunderland cup games as well. In those days going out of any cup in the late stages hurt as they didn't come around too often, these days we're expected to win before they even begin.

Didn't we finish 3 points behind the eventual Champions that season? Obviously that game wouldn't have made the difference but still. In no real order:

Barcelona, standard. Makes Foy look competent.

Arsenal 5 effing 3 at the Bridge.

Moscow (thank god for Munich).

Every other time we lose.

Yeah I thought the title was ours and that draw really hurt. Late curler from guppy, hated him ever since.

Recently, that Villa game really pissed me off. One of the most frustrating displays from a referee against us for a long while. The 4-2 loss at home to Man city was a gut wrencher too; couldn't believe how awful the defending was, as well as the chances missed - very frustrating game, that one.

Also, as others have mentioned, the Barcelona loss in the CL made me want to strangle that referee.

I might add losing against west ham in the 1998-1999 season that ended our unbeaten streak at home that lasted quite a while and a win on that day would have nearly made us clinch the premier league title.

Not a loss but I was livid after the 2-2 draw at Anfield last year. FSW decides to take off our 2 best players in Hazard and Mata, then the team is struggling to deal with lots of aerial balls into the box. If only there was a sub good at organising the defence and good in the air...so he brings Benayoun on instead of JT. 6 minutes of injury time are plucked out of thin air, are completed then the ball goes dead and another 90 seconds appear and the biter goes and scores. And the worst bit is that after the match, FSW didn't complain at all, just thanked the Liverpool fans. I always thought people were too hard on him but after that I was all aboard the FSW OUT train,

Cup Final 94. So long without a final and that happens. Brutal isn't the word, totally undeserved and totally devastating.

Nothing else comes close for me.

That game had me close to tears, I was only bout 12, and that game cost us the title.

A wet cold day miserable day, in the old Wembley, getting stuffed by manyoo, almost a quarter of a century of waiting,

But from then to now, it's been a massive ride for me personally, and many thousands more.

Moscow and the Barca second leg for me, definitely. Honestly if we won that game I wouldn't have put it past us to beat United in the final at all.

Thinking about it, if things would have gone our way, we could have well had 2-3 Champions league cups by now. Ahhhh, hindsight is a wonderful, but sometimes disappointing thing.
