Liverpool v Chelsea (PL) 27/04/14 KO 14:05 BST

Sounds like you need a new local.

ha - we only have one pub!

The landlord is a friend of mine and is also a Liverpool fan (well Celtic and Liverpool, the Kenny Dalglish factor) but he is much more sensible than the other bloke.  In fact he was very worried about the game and said beforehand that he could just see Jose pulling off something special.

I propose a new song be drafted for when Liverpool come to Stamford Bridge next season, if all goes according to plan.

Viva Gerrard!

Viva Gerrard!

He could have won the cup,

but he f**ked it up!

Viva Gerrard!

Viva Gerrard!

Viva Gerrard!

He could have won the league,

but he lost his feet!

Viva Gerrard!

Viva Gerrard!

Viva Gerrard!

He could have claimed the crown,

but he fell down!

Viva Gerrard!

Viva Gerrard!

Viva Gerrard!

He had it in his grip,

but he went and slipped!

Viva Gerrard!

If you can't be confident after 11 wins then I dont know when you can be!

They are going to try and wind you up mate, some of them, just let it go over your head.

I personally thought the result was going to be the same, I thought we would lose about 3-0 as well. I'm glad I was wrong but I'm not going to come on here and gloat about it to other fans, or even make fun of your prediction. I always have faith in Mourinho mind, I was pessimistic before the game but I kept reminding myself that Mourinho is always the one that finds a way when the odds are not in his favor.

The handball was not a penalty, I'm sick of them being screamed for anytime a ball hits someone's bloody hand. The rule is hand to ball basically, and that was not hand to ball. Granted they get given but really shouldn't be, what are you supposed to do as a defender if a player smacks at you from 5 yards.

Basically the Chelsea end spilled out of the turnstiles bouncing and singing and the Liverpool fans couldn't handle it. There were a couple of Liverpool fans swinging punches  for no other reason that they were sore losers. Chelsea fans retaliated as you would expect but it was Liverpool that started the violence from what I saw.

The key thing of note was that there was no police segregation what so ever, they didn't show up until there was a full on brawl. Shocking.

Good to see the the Mail have reported that the scenes were as a result of Chelsea fans singing about Gerrad however the Liverpool fans have since claimed it all started because a Chelsea fan spat on the Hillsborough memorial. Keep in mind that the fighting was immediately outside the away turnstiles not by the Hillsborough memorial so not quite sure how that would have worked but will let people make their own minds up on the truth of that one.

So typical of Liverpool to accept no blame and instead try and make out their fans were some kind of heroes defending the Hillsborough memorial.

Always the victims, it's never your fault.

The away turnstiles are near the memorial, one of the pictures in the mirror has a group of Chelsea fans at the exit near the memorial. I don't buy it obviously and think what you've said it spot on, it's not the first time Liverpool fans have done this they even accused Everton of doing the same not that long ago which is just odd, but you can see how that image could potentially be yet another stick to beat us with. Did you see any Chelsea fans down that end when it kicked off or did the fights just end up there?

Are you a Dirty Red Scouser in disguise w/ you History reference....joking of course

redandwhite3!?!?!?!?

Watching sky sports news and can't help but find the liverpool fans singing that song hilarious when we scored the 2nd. You can almost hear the desperation in their voices and imagine the tears rolling down their faces whilst singing it.

This should be added to the quotes section.

The away turnstiles are near the memorial but the fighting took place right at the turnstiles, not at the memorial..

The away fans exit right out of the turnstiles and the memorial is on the left, they would have had to have actively gone out of their way to get to it, you don't walk past the memorial when exiting the away end, the story makes no sense at all.

I can only say what I saw and what others on my coach saw and that was Liverpool fans swinging punches for no other reason than Chelsea fans singing and having banter as they left the ground. Liverpool couldn't take it and failed to control themselves, it's that simple. The fact that even the Mail makes no mention of the spitting on the memorial and instead states it was due to Chelsea fans singing about Gerrard says a lot.

Liverpool fans would be better off accepting that a small minority of them misbehaved rather than fabricating stories in order to attempt to shift the blame onto others for their own wrongdoing, as usual.

Great post-match analysis from Jamie Carragher on MNF tonight.  "Chelsea had clearly talked about how to frustrate Liverpool before the game"

His football brain is nearly as good as Redknapp's

I'd say our fans singing and celebrating sounds much more likely. What were they singing about Stevie G though? The only song I have really heard is along the lines of "have you ever seen Gerrard win the league?". That seems like standard banter. Supposedly some of our fans were singing about his cousin and I know of at least one person who claims to have heard that on tv. Can't say I did but would be out of order if we had done so.

They were singing something along the lines of "steven gerrard, he's done it again"

Which got translated to steven gerrard your cousin is dead.

Yep. Referring to win he past the ball for drogba to score in the 2010 season

Dan Levene:

Chelsea's rope-a-dope could end Liverpool's title hopes

First there was the outrage at the under-strength side. Chelsea are 'enemies of football', 'disrespecting the Premier League', with 'no class'. Then there was the outrage at the tactics.

Whether it was parking the bus, double-parking the bus (something even the bizarre layout of Hammersmith bus station makes awkward), or just being plain ‘negative’ – well you can take your pick.

And finally there was the biggest outrage of all – that this jumped-up under-strength Chelsea side had the temerity to go to the home of the champions-elect and win.

Chelsea are used to causing outrage. It seems to go with the territory.

Agreed: spoiling the media love-in, where journalists utterly out of touch with match-going fans state the opinion that ‘most neutrals want Liverpool to win the league’, is never going to go down well.

But amid the defensive masterclass, the tactics born to frustrate and anger, the Mohammad Ali-style rope-a-dope gameplan that lured a psychologically weaker opponent to waste their fight before delivering a late knockout punch – the truth is that Liverpool undid themselves.

“No slips – we go again,” are the words that will haunt Steven Gerrard until the day he dies.

For it was his slip, that of Liverpool’s own home-grown King of The Kop, that cost Anfield probably its only chance in the foreseeable future to host a championship-winning side.

“Steven Gerrard – he’s done it again,” sang the away end, referencing the midfielder’s own goal to their benefit in the 2005 League Cup final, and the back pass to let in Didier Drogba for a crucial goal in the 2010 title race.

Next season will be different for Liverpool.

Recovering from the decline that saw them dumped out of Europe, they will ‘go again’ in the Champions League – and slips are all the more common when a manager who has never won more than a trophy for coming third in the second tier of English football has to play twice a week all season.

The chances of Chelsea capitalising in this year’s campaign remain incredibly slim. They still need both Liverpool and Manchester City to drop points in a run-in that is short on games.

City are the biggest beneficiaries – they only have to win three games to be champions.

That means three points each time: at a very wobbly Everton (who may, conceivably, have a reason to be generous to City), at home to a woeful Aston Villa, and at home again to a West Ham with nothing to play for.

But it goes much further than that.

In depriving Liverpool of what seemed the certainty of their first title in 24 years, Chelsea have offered one of the greatest things any team has ever given English football.

Liverpool are roundly despised by the fans of other clubs that go to games. The arrogance of their fans, the talk of ‘history’ (actually built on the gambling revenues of the poor), the behaviour of a section of a set of fans who routinely brick visiting coach windows and throw excrement at visiting supporters.

It seems odd that Manchester City could be seen as people’s champions, but by comparison it is a walkover.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are left with players rested to get on with the matter in hand – battling for their third consecutive European trophy and upholding the UEFA coefficient of the Premier League.

Their presence in those echelons is equally unpopular: UEFA hated the spectacle of them winning the 2012 trophy – the signs clear on Michel Platini’s face.

Chelsea will lap up that antipathy from the authorities. After all, causing such outrage appears to be one of the club’s favourite pastimes.

Don't forget that own goal in the League Cup as well - Stevie G wants to play for Chelsea so he can play along side his idol, Frank Lampard

I was at it pal right next to the dippers. We all sang one Stevie Gerrard ha ha they went nuts

Sorry but the story of us singing about his cousin is utter bollocks.

We were singing 'Steven Gerrard, he's done it again' in reference to his error assisting our goal.
