Ramires - anyone else frustrated?

Featured Replies

Slightly concerned where this leaves Mikel, his contract is up in 2017 and I can't see us keeping both Ramires and Mikel.

Gone in January, first departure of a mini restructure.

He's just penned a new 4-year contract with us

Dear oh dear ... Totally ridiculous ... An upgrade is long, long overdue ...

Unfortunately, he's a Jose type player nailed on to hold back the development of players with much more potential ...

We should be running his Contract down ...

Where do we get these FANS ffs.

Why do people always say stuff like this when somebody says they don't like a player?

He's done absolute naff all over the past two seasons to deserve a FOUR YEAR extension.

I get what Ramires offers, he's a little versatile and he's one of those players where his pace can be really helpful to the team, especially coming off the bench. However, his ability in recent years has gone backwards, at one time he looked to be kicking on but he's still a very poor passer of the ball and despite the goals he scores usually been top notch goals his lack of simple finishing is very bizarre. I would love to see him work on these faults in training but it seems he like many other footballers these days don't seem to want to work on stuff like this. Go back and look at David Beckham, he worked every day on freekick so and set pieces in training, Gary Linekar used to practice taking penalties and Zola used to do extra training including helping out others i.e. John Terry. Anyway I will stop ranting but I really hope a new contract gives Ramires a bit of a kick up the arse.

This guy has been a model professional worked his socks off for us played where he is asked without complain you never hear anything bad about him and some of you fans are crapping on him absolutely disgusting

His is it disgusting? His abilities as a footballer are limited yet were supposed to not say anything about him because he hasn't complained? Jog on

Pleased with this, Like a lot of other players his form has been up and down but considering last season his appearances were limited this season he has looked bright and despite some weak parts to his game he is one player whos head doesn't drop when things are against us and will chase every ball. A trait that has been missing this season from many players games.

Can't understand why some feel that every player in the team must all have the skill and attributes of say the top three players in the world. Every player has strengths and weaknesses and I would take Ramires over the many other world class teams equivalent players.

Disgusting? f**k sake get a grip. People are allowed to voice their opinion on players.

You also might want to check his conduct on the field the season before last before calling him a model professional. Elbows and horrendous tackles flying everywhere.

Well Said

Pity if it ends up being true. I like Ramires but I would rather keep Mikel if it came down to a choice between the two.

Do we know the details of the contract ? Based on what i am hearing - his current deal was set to expire 2 years form now - a 4 year extension means that we essentially extended the deal by 2 more years. While his abilities seem to be fading with every season, he is still a vital member of the squad. With Matic and Fabergas being out of form and RLC being too young for Mourinho to trust - I think Ramires is probably our #1 Defensive midfielder so far this season.

He may not offer that much in attack, but he can run around tirelessly and can defend well enough and is not afraid to shoot. I am not going to say if this is a great move or a bad move without knowing the contract details.

Also after the pre-season rumors of Juventus being interested in Oscar and Ramires, You never know - They may be the chips we need for a Pogba deal.

Id rather have a player that can actually pass a ball. We dont need anymore olayers that run around aimlessly at full speed, we need actual footballers that can pass and shot with something resembling concistency

Question of versatility I suppose. Ramires can play a few roles but excels at none.

Mikel plays a very specific role and generally does what is expected.

If the club are serious about RLC getting more game time then one was always going to have to leave.

Ramires is a great player to have in a squad, what he lacks in some aspects of his game, he offers in other exceptional attributes. He's a team player that gives everything every game and was a big part in everything we won since he is here.
