May 7, 201412 yr Would be a backwards step. We need to move on from Drogba Sure it would be if we put him up front, but i don't beleive that will e his role! The man is charismatic and still bleeds Blue! He will enthuse confidence in the NEW striking force for next season... If he can get a game or two, why the hell not!? We have a 'good' history of player/coaches dont we: Hoddle, Vialli, Gullit Dont get me wrong the old guard is getting old! No doubt about it but we need to, dare ii say it, transition smoothly... I for one dont know which of the old guard will be with us next year, i hope for at least 3! But we need to teach the new blood, what it takes and what it means to bleed Blue! (...i know, a lot of blood analogies...my bad!) ... Just having him on the bench will scare some defenders sh*tless! Or at least bring back some bad memories which will hopefully destabilize them! Some might argue we need to move on from Cech, Lampard and Cole too We do! but smoothly... Not all at once, and let them be part of the Club one way or the other... May 8, 201412 yr Best get Drogba on the staff some how. Don't undervalue the contributions he could make as an ambassador for the club let alone a coaching role. If Chelsea and Real Madrid are targeting the same youth and Real have Zidane whispering in the kids ear I cant think of a person I'd rather have try to charm the kid for Chelsea than Drogba. His global profile is immense, more so in Africa and you can tell Drogba possesses intelligence on top of his charisma. I don't think he would be dead weight on the staff at all, more so I feel CFC should go out of their way to find him a role if there isn't a good fit position already available when Drogba retires. Great post. Agreed 100%. Drogba would be a brilliant ambassador for this club for the reasons you've highlighted. He's considered to be one of the most influential people in all of Sub-Saharan Africa, not just the Ivory Cost, and having someone like that representing CFC would be invaluable IMO.
May 16, 201412 yr Can he teach Lukaku how to take a penalty first?. Fair point... I jst can't forget the penalty he missed
May 16, 201412 yr Didnt this guy get sent off in a Champions league final? Nah bad attitude. NEXT, As a coach would love it. future chelsea manager!!

Can't argue with any of that. Stamford Bridge is Drogbas home. He belongs here. I've never seen a bigger reaction for any other former player lining up against us. I want to see him come home for good. He would be a great role model for young players.
May 19, 201412 yr So Drogba has said his goodbyes to his Turkish fans, and is now a free agent. Hoping Mourinho reels him in and gets this guy back in with Chelsea as at least a coach, and possibly as back up forward depending on if we can off load Torres to Athletico or Inter. I still think he could do a better job than the likes of Torres and Demba Ba if called upon, and I'm sure he would find an extra gear playing for us again despite his age! Costa, Lukaku, and Drogba would be a great trio of forwards to start next season with in comparison to last season.
May 19, 201412 yr No thanks, His last kick of a ball for the club was to win the CL please leave it at that. No better way to leave.

May 19, 201412 yr No thanks, His last kick of a ball for the club was to win the CL please leave it at that. No better way to leave. This. He will never come close to the player he was with us and it was fitting that his last kick for Chelsea was the clubs biggest ever moment. It was meant to be like that...written in the stars if you will. As a coach then 100% but on the pitch we cannot go back to Drogs as we need to look forward and at 36 he simply won't be up to the EPL level sadly.
May 19, 201412 yr I dont understand why people wouldnt want him back because his last kick one us the Champions League. So what! I can understand if someone said he is too old or his wage demands would be too high etc. For me i would welcome him back. He knows the league and we could be taking a risk this summer and might be moving on all our strikers and replacing them with new. Costa could take 6 months to adapt. Having Drogba back would give us breathing space. Also having another leader in the dressing room can only be a good thing. Jose said himself that our team is lacking leaders. I think it would be a good bit of business all around. Give him a year contract like we did with Eto'o. No one will forget his kick won us the champions league so it shouldnt matter if he comes back and plays on for us. Costa, Lukaku (if he can get his attitude right) and Drogba would be a great strike force. Hopefully we can loan out Torres.

Because i dont really see the purpose even for a season, just aswell keep Eto'o. Him coming here might hinder Lukaku chances even more. Would Drogba even want to come here and be third choice?.
May 19, 201412 yr I get the feeling Eto'o actually wants to leave. He was saying his son wants to go back to Spain. As for DD. He could actually help Lukaku. Teach him and get him ready to take over. Why would DD come here to be third choice? Well his family still live in Cobham and its not like he wouldnt get games with us. He loves Jose and Jose loves him. Makes sense to me.
May 19, 201412 yr Yeah I think this makes a lot of sense and hope it happens. Nothing will ever tarnish Didier's achievements or that night in Munich.
June 8, 201412 yr Sunday Mirror saying we want to re-sign Drogba http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-line-up-didier-drogba-3660832
June 8, 201412 yr Club ambassadeur only and put him through his coaching badges, absolutely not back on the playing staff.
June 8, 201412 yr I watched his 100 PL goals sky sports show this morning and it made me sad and joyful in equal measure. WHAT A PLAYER HE WAS.
June 8, 201412 yr If he comes back, hopefully he will talk some sense into Lukaku and tell him not to be afraid of competition.
June 8, 201412 yr Club ambassadeur only and put him through his coaching badges, absolutely not back on the playing staff. Wonder if you'd feel that way if he playeecand scored a few against Arsenal
June 8, 201412 yr Please Didier do not compromise your legacy with us, leave us with the memories of your CL winning penalty, not an aged superstar wanting a last run against father time...
June 9, 201412 yr You lot are mental. You couldnt ask for a better 2nd or 3rd choice striker. He can still do a job but more importantly he would be a leader in the dressing room. I think those of you who dont want him back because his last kick won us the CL are mad. Nothing can take that away from him or us. He is a free transfer also. If we are to be getting rid of our current strikers then its a good thing to bring in someone who knows the club and the league as back up.
June 9, 201412 yr I'd rather Lukaku man up and come challenge for his place. I love DD but not sure how much he could offer us as a 36 year old, one injury to Costa (assuming he comes) and we're back where we was last season.
June 9, 201412 yr The problem is i dont think Lukaku will man up and face the challenge, i think he will ask to leave this summer. DD wouldnt have to play week in week out. He would be 2nd or 3rd choice but he would give us a very good option.
