July 20, 201411 yr I will say it again, a 36 year old Drogba is more reliable than Torres of the past 3 years. Torres has given nothing to this club, absolutely nothing. Drogba is not going to be a starter and may not even be second choice but he deserves a place on the squad over Torres. He will also bring confidence and leadership in the dressing room especially during situations filled with pressure and tension.
July 21, 201411 yr I think this is happening. Lukaku / Torres / Costa / Drogba Drogba acts as a mentor to Lukaku and as emergency backup.
July 21, 201411 yr http://www.theshedend.com/topic/7858-bye-bye-drogba/ lol on comments Well and truly, named and shamed.
July 21, 201411 yr Can't agree with this move. Loved drogba as a player but he is completely untested in any other role. As a player he will have zero match fitness in an emergency role and will get in the way of young talent. Thumbs down
July 21, 201411 yr Drogba lost his pace and him on the team will create animosity. As a coach, a trainer, an advisor he could help. Otherwise he is not needed.
July 21, 201411 yr Why would he create animosity? While he was here he was one of the key reasons we had such a strong team spirit even when we changed manager every 6 months. Oh I suppose he might upset Torres again by still being far better than him, but I can live with that.
July 21, 201411 yr Costa, Lukaku, Torres are Chelsea's priority. Drogba is not needed. Him on the team prevents Lukaku from playing. The future is with young players and not 36 year old man.
July 21, 201411 yr Pete you're talking a one year playing contract that's hardly gonna stunt any young players development and if rumours are to be believed Torres may be on his way home so a one year contract for Drogba would be an even better thing
July 21, 201411 yr Put it this way, I think the majority of fans would be happy with Costa 1st choice, lukaku 2nd and drogba 3rd rather than Torres in there somewhere.
July 21, 201411 yr "Chelsea hope to announce the return of Didier Drogba this week with Jose Mourinho confident of luring him back on a one-year deal." I don't really want him back. He left in such a blaze of glory!
July 21, 201411 yr Put it this way, I think the majority of fans would be happy with Costa 1st choice, lukaku 2nd and drogba 3rd rather than Torres in there somewhere. I couldnt agree with this any more. Those fans talking about his last kick all the time are starting to sound like Liverpool fans. History history history! We at Chelsea are making history not living off it! Someone else said Drogba might scare Lukaku away, well if the bottle job cant stand the heat then he needs to get out of the kitchen. Let him go to someone like Everton IF they can afford the transfer fee. He will be a decent striker but will never play for a big team because he is afraid of a little competition.
July 21, 201411 yr Chelsea must look forward to seeing young players and Lukaku is the future. They bring Drogba, if it's true & Lukaku surely tell them to f**k off.
July 21, 201411 yr For me I actually want Lukaku to leave while we can get a good price for him. His attitude sucks and probably wont sign a new deal with us anyway. Sell him now and get double what we would do next summer.
July 21, 201411 yr Players like Lukaku, Aké, Bramford, Ginkel are the future and an old timer like Drogba is not.
July 21, 201411 yr He could definitely help Lukaku with his game on the field and his personality off the field. If Drogba really is Lukaku's idol then you will hope he listens.
July 21, 201411 yr The only priority Torres should have is to be the first one one to pack his bags and get out.
July 21, 201411 yr If Drogs does return then that surely means either Lukaku or Torres are on their way out. Obviously we have the Torres to Atletico rumour but it just seems too good to be true. Lukaku to Everton has been rumoured for a while but it would feel a bit short sighted letting a 21 year old go in favour of a 36 year old on a one year deal.
July 21, 201411 yr Players like Lukaku, Aké, Bramford, Ginkel are the future and an old timer like Drogba is not. Old timer? have abit more respect...
July 21, 201411 yr If this is happening I expect one of Torres or Lukaku to leave, With Didier as a stop gap signing/backup. Can't say I am delighted, I felt he left in the perfect manner winning the Champions League with his last kick but will always welcome the Legend back at the bridge.
