Wish he performed half as well for us. Wouldn't have been loaned then. Bit late to remember how to play football

I think this shows the gulf between the premier league and serie A. Of course Mourinho requires tracking back by our wide players that's fairly onerous - I doubt that is a feature of Fiorentina's play.

If this is true then you gotta wonder why we went and spent £27 million on Cuadrado.

Hope to be proven wrong but as far as having an immediate impact (or at least giving the impression we've signed a half decent player) perhaps Shaqiri would have been the better acquisition in hindsight.

Then again, the pace of Serie A tends to be less frenetic than the Premier League, perhaps that's why Cuadrado should be given the benefit of the doubt while he adapts to the league/our style of play.

As with Droogba, in my sleep last night I saw the FA Cup with orange and red ribbons on it

Twilight zone or what?

On paper Reading look stronger, but I think they've won one less game than Bradford. Bradford are at home and are well prepared fan wise, and they must be buzzing. Come on Bradford!

So Evans got the same ban as cisse, nicely done by the fa, no point in owning up to something anymore, just contest everything as the ban will be the same.

I hope Reading goes thought as I live in reading .. I live in Cardiff as Undergraduate student lol ..I was there for cardiff match as support was amazing ..hopefully away fans sell out will give us the edge ...:)

I think it will be a great game whoever wins :)

Yep, he should have got a game more - isnt't that how it works when you appeal a red card or what have you?

My first reaction was that 6 games was too much but it's hard to ask that it's disgusting. It's a weird game to say 'well soandso got this number for this and 6 games is what's in the rules but I'd have thought 4 or 5 games would've been the right punishment.

Anyone know what that bird who sh*t in Ashley Young's mouth got??

A medal.

This spitting row has gotten out of hands..7 games, 6 games. Not nice but who the f**k got hurt? Some lady somewhere who thinks it will corrupt children?

Don't mind the long ban. If that c**t Evans had spit on me he would have got hurt.

I actually think the six game ban is correct. Generally speaking a bad challenge in football even one that might inflict injury is a 'mistimed tackle' , the intention on the whole will not be premeditated and is more spur of the moment. Spitting on someone on the other hand is totally premeditated used on the victim to belittle or downgrade the person. It is common assault and should be treated harshly as bodily fluids are exchanged.

Spitting at someone not only is abhorrent in modern culture but can also carry some very serious health issues. Infection, disease and so on can all be passed through spitting should it be sprayed in someone's face.

This ban is totally justified IMO, the benchmark needs to be high to make sure this disgusting act will not be tolerated. Like Walters said if someone spat at my face I'd make sure it would be the last time they ever tried it.

Scum bags

Tim Sherwood on incident with Chelsea while managing spuds:

"It happened to me once last season with Tottenham. We were playing Chelsea. Nearly an hour in we had them where we wanted them. Then Jan Vertonghen makes a mistake, Younes Kaboul gets sent off, and we capitulate, lose 4-0."

"I’m hot, I’m upset. Jose Mourinho shakes hands, doesn’t say much. Steve Holland, his assistant, comes up and he’s trying to be nice. 'Unlucky mate,' he says. 'You played really well in the first half.' I tell him to f*** off. Lost my temper. Called him a patronising c***. I had to phone and apologise. Still fuming, but it was my mistake. He didn’t mean it as I thought. You’re not safe in the heat of that battle."

"When Mourinho talks about referees and campaigns, that’s calculated. He knows what he’s doing. I saw him when Chelsea scored against Tottenham last Sunday. Tottenham were doing well until that point, but the goal went in and Mourinho turned to the bench as if it was all part of some masterplan."

"It was like he was checking his watch. 'That’s strange, 40 seconds early.' He has that way. But he’s Mourinho — he can do what he wants. When you’ve got a room full of trophies and you can’t get the door shut, it’s different."

Jealous.

It's a shame that Cisse's honesty was not recognised by a lesser ban. I've no sympathy for Evans - he's effectively been branded a liar by the FA and rightly so.

Re. Sherwood, he needs to be a LOT less open.

If anything, he seems more than complimentary for Mourinho.

Completely agree, its a disgusting thing to do and needs a ling ban as a deterrent. I was never spat at on a pitch but a team mate was, and he knoecked the little sh*t on his arse for it. It was honestly one of the angriest I and many others have ever been on a pitch, more than any bad or late tackle.

Spot on Evissy. The world really needs to get its priorities in place. Everyone thrives on formality and good "civilized" behaviour. As things stand now, this is what we know.

You can try and break a person's leg, even elbow their heads, but do not dare do disgusting things like spitting or biting. What with the great risk of infection (millions of people affected every year), how can the world go on if such behaviour goes unpunished? What would people think? Let the referees continue making mistakes, let there be dangerous fouls and diving and playacting and cheating, but the biggest blight on the game, spitting, has to be eradicated.

This is the message. Don't get me wrong, a ban is correct but one game will be sufficient to stop this from happening again. I don't think anyone will think that the joy of spitting is worth a one game ban. Career ending tackles on the other hand...

Also, amazing that diving and playacting never get a reaction like this.
