March 4, 201511 yr Speaking of Pellegrino, decent article about him and City on The Guardian: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/mar/03/manuel-pellegrini-manchester-city-leicester-premier-league One of the strangest things perhaps, after all the expenditure and all the grand plans, is the amount of time – and the total number of days might surprise you – Manchester City have actually spent at the top of the Premier League since that afternoon in 2012 when Sergio Agüero pulled back his right boot, the clock ticked into the 94th minute and Martin Tyler’s commentary went up several octaves. We are approaching the three-year mark and, in total, there have been only 22 days since when City have been looking down on everyone else. The longest run at the top? That was a mere week in November 2012 before everything unravelled for Roberto Mancini. Last season? Six different spells on the summit but never more than four days, even if 7 May to 11 May were the most important four days of the campaign.
March 4, 201511 yr City aren't yet a major draw for the world's best managers in my opinion. Why would Ancelotti, Pep and even Simeone swap their current clubs for City? What's the attraction of taking the job? Pelligrini's only successes in Europe have been with City, at least with Benetiz you can argue that he's won trophies at more than one club and has a respectable record in Europe too. Blanc I think is a bit of a pretender with regards to top managers but by being at PSG it's risen his profile a bit. I agree city will struggle to attract the very best managers, especially with ffp maybe limiting there spending, although I'm sure they could generate a fair amount from player sales. I think benitez would probably be the best bet, as it seems the owners are keen for a better showing in Europe, although I'm not sure what they would think of his style if they weren't keen on mancini. It would be great if the Mourinho benitez rival was back though.

March 4, 201511 yr the Independent today speculates that City will go after Brendan Rodgers - apparently they talked to him in 2009 about becoming Mancini's assistant but Mancini insisted on his own backroom staff the scousers would just love it if Rodgers went to City and took Coutinho with him
March 4, 201511 yr If City fancy someone with experience in Europe, the Premier League, dealing with big-name players and of winning trophies as well as very good tactical nous they could always go after Guus Hiddink as he has had a horrible [re]start to his career as Holland manager. Obviously he's not a long-term solution but he showed with us that he is capable of a quick turnaround - how big a difference was there between Scolari's Chelsea and the Chelsea inherited by Ancelotti? March 4, 201511 yr I'd be amazed if Rodgers left Liverpool. He seems to have bought into the myth of Liverpool (also know as going 'full retard') and probably thinks he's got a chance to 'build something special' there. Probably got his heart set on Moneyball 2 being made about him. Wonder if Ricky Gervais can do a Northern Irish accent.

I think Ricky Gervais could pull it off, he only has to learn a few words like history, character, and tradition!

March 4, 201511 yr One of my favorite teams, remember them as fondly as others remember the likes of AC Milan and Ajax teams of the past. Question for you and my fellow Shed Enders. Has Allardyce been the best and most consistent English manager of the last 15 years?
March 4, 201511 yr Question for you and my fellow Shed Enders. Has Allardyce been the best and most consistent English manager of the last 15 years? Don't the numbers speak for themselves? The only other English Gaffer I can truly think of is Uncle 'arry. I guess you could include Roy Hodgson as well.

March 4, 201511 yr Question for you and my fellow Shed Enders. Has Allardyce been the best and most consistent English manager of the last 15 years? Easily, and he's proving with West Ham he is not a one-trick long ball pony.
