July 28, 201411 yr Yeah he's a decent signing. The price is very high but I guess they're in a similar position to the one we were in a few years ago where everybody knew we were flushed with cash and wanted players so had to pay a premium. I think they definitely need to address the full-back situation, it seems that they're a bit late to the party though as Southampton have already lost Shaw to Man Utd and seem set to lose Chambers to Arsenal. I guess that leaves Clyne, another Southampton RB who's pretty good going forward and was being touted in the media as a possible replacement for Johnson a few months ago, so I wouldn't be surprised if that one resurfaced. It must really suck to be a Southampton fan right now. Haha, what do you think of the new Southampton-coach Ronald Koeman?
July 28, 201411 yr Haha, what do you think of the new Southampton-coach Ronald Koeman? No lose situation for him right now. He's got money to spend to bring players in but he'll be given time because of the amount of high profile outgoing players this summer. The appointment itself is quite ambitious but Southampton need to back that up by bringing in the players to match.
July 28, 201411 yr I see Lovren said he was delighted to sign for 'the biggest club in the world' *cringe*
July 28, 201411 yr I see Lovren said he was delighted to sign for 'the biggest club in the world' *cringe* Good point, I completely forgot to look at the now-traditional cringeworthy 'Liverpool new signing' quotes: "It's a dream come true. I'm happy and glad to be here. I'm proud and can't wait to start. I know we have millions and millions of supporters - Liverpool is more than a club. After I played at Anfield last season, I said to myself: 'One day I hope I'll be able to play here for Liverpool'. The fans will know from the first minute that I'm a player that will give 100 per cent on the pitch." Also the highlights from his first interview: http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/167332-dejan-lovren-the-first-lfc-interview Dejan Lovren - Liverpool player. How does that sound? It sounds amazing and it's a dream come true. I'm happy and glad to be here; I'm proud and can't wait to start. What are you most looking forward to about playing for Liverpool? I'm most looking forward to Anfield, of course. I played there last season in front of the crowd singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. That is something very special for every player, every sportsman and every fan. I can't wait to get started. What do you know about the club and its history? I know we have millions and millions of supporters - Liverpool is more than a club. You scored just twice for Southampton, one of them the winner against Liverpool at Anfield last season. What did that moment mean to you? It was an amazing moment for me because before and after the game I sensed the feeling and atmosphere around the stadium. I will never forget the victory we achieved and especially getting the goal. After the game, I said to myself: "One day I hope I'll be able to play here for Liverpool." Apart from the goal, what else do you remember about playing at Anfield that day? Jose Fonte, my defensive partner at Southampton, told me to listen to 'You'll Never Walk Alone' before the first whistle and to enjoy the moment. It was really amazing - I had chills on my arms and it's something that I will never forget. I want to listen to that song every other weekend. Well it looks like they've realised they had to drop the pretence (delusion?) of being the 'biggest club in the world', however it also looks like they have replaced it with 'playing for Liverpool has been a lifelong dream', karaoke-worshipping and building on that by stealing Barca's motto. (*insert joke about Scousers and stealing*) Do they honestly expect anyone to believe that a player who has spent five years in Croatia's top flight is going to be impressed by 40,000 drunken Scousers bawling out an old Rodgers & Hammerstein number? Joe Cole was right...
July 28, 201411 yr Griezmann has signed for atletico madrid for €24 million. That is griezmann, Mandzukic, and apparently callejon is heading there too. Should be interesting to see how they do next season; they should still mount a decent challenge.
July 28, 201411 yr Maybe Remy refused to say Liverpool are the biggest club in the world so they pulled the plug on the deal.
July 28, 201411 yr Sol Campbell's off again http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sol-campbell-says-black-english-3922579 Does he even have interviews anymore without bringing race into it ?
July 28, 201411 yr Reports of Di Maria being sold for 80 mil to PSG. Wow that's a ridiculous amount, how can they afford it under FFP though?
July 28, 201411 yr Remys transfer collapsed because it was tied in with Borino transfer to Sunderland, Borino wants to stay at liverpool to fight for a 1st team spot & refused the transfer.
July 28, 201411 yr Maybe Remy refused to say Liverpool are the biggest club in the world so they pulled the plug on the deal.Sounds about right.
July 28, 201411 yr Sol Campbell's off again http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sol-campbell-says-black-english-3922579 Does he even have interviews anymore without bringing race into it ? It's pretty boring from Campbell now, most of his arguments don't even make sense. The main one I'll pick out is: He believes black players have a lesser value in the eyes of English club chairman compared to ex-pros from abroad. “Look at Ruud Gullit and Jean Tigana, they are black and have managed in this country,” he added. “We’ve got black players who have achieved similar things to them domestically and have the same level of quality. What he's not mentioning is that when Ruud Gullit in particular was appointed the Premier League was in a very transitional phase, English players still drinking heavily and had poor diets etc (see the Gazza dentist chair celebration). Then you had someone like Ruud come to Chelsea with a continental mindset, Italian football was the pinnacle at the time of his joining and he no doubt bought a lot of the mindset that is so common place in World Football with him. It's not about nationality or race but knowledge and at that time Ruud was more knowledgeable than 90% + of English managerial talent regardless of their skin colour. Do you know why the black managers are now out of work? Because they weren't good enough... The only exception you could argue for is Chris Powell but that was down to boardroom politics. Campbell isn't even fully qualified but moans about the lack of opportunities ... Once he's got all his badges and has put himself forward for a few jobs, then he can talk about his experiences seeking managerial work as a black man. And should he fail to get work... Maybe he's already alienating people within the game with his ongoing race vendetta?
July 28, 201411 yr £16m for a teenage full back with about 20 first team games shows just how ridiculous the whole english transfer fee thing has gotten. We paid about the same for Felipe.
July 28, 201411 yr Manchester city had a twitter Q&A session planned for Navas , and the hash tag they made , ?#?AskJesus? And few of the questions were: #ASKJESUS is it awkward playing against Moses in the premier league?"Did you prefer City over Chelsea because their owner's a Roman? #AskJesusCan you perform a miracle and make Daley Blind see again? #AskJesusYou fed 5,000 with five loaves and two fish, so why didn't you give Yaya a cake? #AskjesusHow nervous did you feel when the coach said you have to perfect your crosses #AskJesus#AskJesus , who made it to the starting 11 from your 12 disciples .Can you transform Leicester's Drinkwater into Drinkwine ?? #AskJesus
July 28, 201411 yr £16m for a teenage full back with about 20 first team games shows just how ridiculous the whole english transfer fee thing has gotten. We paid about the same for Felipe. Even funnier is that Arsenal have spent almost £30m on right backs to replace Sagna who left on a free and Wenger has ruled out signing a striker.
July 28, 201411 yr Sol campbell is very irritating these days, and what is it with him sounding like he's from downton abbey all of a sudden? The less attention given to his prentious self, the better!
July 28, 201411 yr Even funnier is that Arsenal have spent almost £30m on right backs to replace Sagna who left on a free and Wenger has ruled out signing a striker. But wenger is a genius, and constantly brings youth through from the acadamy.....
July 28, 201411 yr How many players did Wenger bring from the academy? Recently, he bought a goalie for 3m. Lol.
