30 million  :close_tema:

I have no idea what those words at the end mean but ignore them

30 million is a lot, but I don't think he will eventually go for as much as that. I don't even think we are interested in bony. We could have gotten him much cheaper when he was as vitesse.

All depends on whether drogba gets another year really. Is remy gonna stick around as a bit part player aswell?

Plenty of options about though, lacazette looks good too.

£30m for a backup striker is ridiculous. City can get away with it cause they play two upfront and all their strikers get playing time due to Jovetic and Aguero's injuries.

Edit: And for £30m, I would want a striker a lot better than Bony. He's good but not £30m good.

Don't see why not, signed for £12m, signed a new contract back in November if I recall correctly and has been scoring consistently.

Can see him going anywhere between £25m-£30m.

I think it will be under £25m, especially if he were to push through a transfer.

Too be honest i dont care about what the price is. Even if he cost over 25m, I still don't think we would have over payed by an obscene amount, maybe 7-8m.

If Mourinho wants him, and the club can afford him, then I'd be happy to see him here because I think he is a good player.

Obviously it wouldn't happen in january, and I'm happy with what we've got at the moment. As I said though it depends on drogba and remy in the summer. Loads of decent strikers about at the 2nd or 3rd choice level. I'm Mourinho will get who he feels fit's best. Whether its cost's 10m or 30m, it doesn't matter too much as long we can afford it comfortably.

To good to be on the bench, not good enough to be first choice so would be a complete waste of £30m

I'm not entirely sure where this story is coming from, we don't need him considering we have perfectly capable strikers on the bench already whom are going unused. Certainly we don't need him immediately, although I can understand people thinking he could be a Drogba replacement in the summer as he is physically blessed and Ivorian (albeit nowhere near as capable in the air).

City are undergoing a temporary striker crisis, however according to this, both Aguero and Dzeko are due back in three weeks and Jovetic will be available for the New Years Day game against Sunderland. Would it really be worth spending £30m on a player who will not only likely be third choice as soon as the former two return from injury, but will also be immediately unavailable anyway because of the African Cup of Nations?

Liverpool seem like they are in far greater need of a centre forward, so I'm surprised us and City are getting linked rather than them, although admittedly I have no idea what Steinberg's source is.

I did enjoy this though:

Arsenal might launch a £25.5m bid for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho. He’s a defensive midfielder. So that won’t be happening.

So spend 30 million for Bony, but don't go for Sanchez (33 million) when we could have? Makes sense :face_palm: .

Wouldn't this money be better spent on another central midfielder as cover for cesc or matic?

Very underwhelmed by him when we played Sporting.

We all know Wenger will just get a 30 year old on loan from some obscure league.

Didn't say anything about buying him for £30M did I?

I liked him and think he would be a great Drogba replacement in the summer.

Bony knows how to find the net but ideally I'd like to see someone like Benteke or Austin sign with us.

However we should also consider Patrick Bamford and where he sits in our plans for the future before we do anything else.

We have the gazelle as cover for Cesc and Matic. (my girlfriend's nickname for ramires)
