Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

Costa is becoming a parody of a sunday league player (apologies you leaguers) just wants to row with defenders....

Totally agree. Difference is Sunday League players play as if hungover, this guy plays as if he's drunk.

People can believe what they want. I've seen enough of Costa to believe he deliberately stamped on that steward. Slyly, subtly perhaps, but that's his style. He knows what he's doing, as ever. The steward doesn't just jump back for no reason. No, I don't have proof before anyone asks, I'm just going on my hunches. I'm increasingly of the mind that Diego Costa is pathetic.

This is not a criticism of you mate but a general statement. It is sad when a Chelsea player gives you reasons to dislike them so much.

Short memories people have. It was his goals that helped us win the League last season, he's going through a tough patch, has had a few injuries and is off form at the moment. He will be back

Remember people always saying we should sell Drogba after a had a couple of rough patches. Then look what happened...

^ Okay, those two posts above are fair enough, I thought my post might provoke a reaction.

What bothers me about Costa is his general attitude towards the cause. Sure, he's not playing well, he's playing awfully in my view, but he can still do his bit.

We're in trouble, we need our front line striker, and what does he do, risks a ban every single game. If he had been caught kicking out at Skrtel he may have got a red, and so on and so on.

If he's trod on that steward deliberately, given our current predicament, that's pretty unforgivable.

Right now I don't see any evidence that he cares.

I cannot believe he's still starting for us.

I wonder what his attitude would be like if he were dropped? Maybe Jose's worried about it, hence he keeps picking him. For me, he should drop him, give him a few minutes as sub, and maybe that'll buck his ideas up. Right now, whatever Jose's doing ain't working. We're 20 games into the campaign and he's an untouchable. I think that should change.

Drogba always contributed towards the team effort, even when he wasn't scoring goals, he was still getting his head to balls, still dominating defenders with his strength, and still being selfish and trying to shoot from every angle as soon as he had the chance, like any top striker would. But Costa has stopped scoring as well as losing aerial battles, losing the battles of strength, and stopped shooting all together from anywhere.

He looked tired and slow, for a change we did create a number of chances for him on the day, he just couldn't get near to the ball. Remy came on, made a few runs and got the only 1-1 chance in the game (should have been a penalty), really made me wonder what could happen if Remy started or came on earlier. I fear he will have another melt down and get a red if we keep going with him in the next few games.

According to Talksport he has been reported to the FA by a Stoke steward for 'assault'

I just saw the video on twitter and I suspect the FA will fine Stoke for wasting their time and the Stoke steward will presumably be sacked

the Vine is on the most recent tweet from this 'Analysts Eye' twitter page for anyone who wants to watch it

Is this a Joke? I was watching that little kick out (if u can even call it that) thinking how is that assualt, i nearly missed the mug chewing gum with the ball at his feet pushed out at Costa? Slap him with a 50k fine :p

I literally just slated that guy for pushing Costa for no reason but tbf this actually makes a lot of sense, I'm gonna watch it some more

When you are banging in goals, we'll stand behind you in the face of some behaviour we wouldn't accept from less influential players. I mean there are obvious lines no amount of goals will let you cross, but a sly dig here or a ban there we can accept if you are banging em in for fun.

Just want to give notice to Costa that if he wants to play this way, he'll have to start scoring again asap because his goal credit has just about run dry.

I think this might need to go back in the confessions section, but I 've always liked Shawcross' style of play, despite the nasty streak. He is 100%, much like JT and Cahill. I actually wanted him here at one point. He always seems to play well when I've seen him.

Costa's been going through a tough patch since the middle of last season. On top of it, he spent all summer getting fat and apparently he is still unfit three months into a new season.

I'm not going to even bother with his constant shenanigans. It's just like with Mourinho, as long as Diego delivers, people tend to overlook all the negative stuff he brings along. But once he starts struggling, and he's been sh*t for nearly a year now, all you've got left is a nasty thug who just annoys and irritates the hell out of everyone instead of doing what he was bought for - scoring goals.

No player to offer meaningful cover if he is dropped

Remy not given a look in for some reason

Have to put up with it until January. New manager

or not by then, Chelsea will need to move out and

move in a few players. A striker or 2 will be needed.

I'm coming to the opinion that you get the real top quality strikers (Drogba, Aguerro, Suarez being prime examples) and then you get the others. Those who are decent but cannot maintain that level to be classed as truly great. Once they get found out, they are fairly ordinary. It does seem Costa falls in to that category. There are many strikers who have one or a few good seasons and then just slip away into obscurity. I hear tonight that Swansea and Michu have parted company. MichWho more like? To be honest I had forgotten he ever existed, yet for a season he took the PL by storm and was being linked with a move away from Swansea to a Big Club. now he's all washed up and joins the long list of those who weren't quite good enough.

when chelsea click back into form costa could well be banging them in for fun again, question is though when?

as for his antics he is a big time liability, he might get away with it at a club not so much in the spotlight but at chelsea no way !!

this part of his game has to be toned down if he is to succeed.

As for the stoke steward, it looks like his boot just touches the stewards foot, on purpose? do not think so, if he meant it he would of trod on it !! but it shows how under the microscope he is. he has to lighten up and smarten up.

Past few games he's been all over the place acting like Rooney. Doesn't seem interested in being in the box which is most bizarre.

Teams we play against have so much time to get all their men back whilst we arse about with stupid little passes around the box and then inevitably lose it.

Midfielders need to be A LOT more direct, Costa need to start making runs between defenders and put some bloody effort in.

I disagree. he is a decent striker, but if we are going to replace Costa we need someone who is out and out world class, and Higuain doesnt fit that bracket for me. Good, yes. World class, no. And if we're going to spend the 30 mil it would cost to get higuain, we might as well stick another 10 or 20 in and get a world class striker

Who though? There are only a handful of world class strikers and none of them would come here, especially given our current circumstances
