November 25, 201510 yr Davey to me has sadly got it spot on. His hearts not in it anymore and we should recoup most of the money we sort of we can get him sold in the summer. A move back to Spain is what he probably needs. Last season he was hungry, commited and in shape. This season it looks like he's lost and can't be bothered being found again. The change in him from a few months ago is frightening! The search goes on for a top striker I guess, I wanted it to be Costa and it looked like it for a while but it's not to be.
November 26, 201510 yr We'll be selling him in the summer. I have no doubts. There were rumours in the summer that he wasn't happy and they now look to have some substance. He wants to be back at Atletico, for my money, and we'd get a decent price for him, maybe do a deal for Griezmann, who knows, or one of their other players. The only trouble is Atletico now have Jackson Martinez so I'm not even sure they'd want Costa, we'll see. He's a marked man here as far as refs are concerned, and without all the posturing, he doesn't seem to enjoy the game, he'd far rather have a scrap. He's been shown up this season IMO. We've needed leadership and he hasn't provided it, he's gone missing, he's been a liability. He came back overweight and he's still overweight. He doesn't look like an elite athlete, which is what you need in the modern game. I don't think he looks after himself. He's a troubled soul if you ask me, and while I have some sympathy if that's the case, I'm a Chelsea supporter, and I want players who will stand up and be counted, not this fellow. Jose won't have been impressed, he's nowhere near good enough to be our front line striker, I just can't see a return to his blistering form. Some players, like Hazard, you think they'll come back, some players, you just don't get that feeling, and whatever the reasons for his demise, I just can't see him turning it around to any meaningful degree. He doesn't inspire that sort of confidence, just looking at him. 3 goals is it all season? Plays every game except when he's banned. I can't think of a top line striker that would suffer that sort of form for so long, unless there was a serious problem afoot. Edit: He's got a face like a slapped arse. His heart's not in it. That attitude spreads. Get rid if you ask me. Agreed!
November 26, 201510 yr Expect Jose to keep on playing him though. Not sure why he does not want to be here but it seems like he no longer does. Maybe it's easier to pick and win a fight in Spain, where everyone is a foot shorter than Costa? I never rated him to be honest and even when he arrived I thought he was technically not good enough. When he was scoring for fun at the beginning of the last season the hard work was usually done by other players. His attitude problems are divisive. Some seem to like it, I personally hate it because it puts the whole team in a bad light. Having said that, if we sell we need to find a good replacement. I wouldn't want to settle for Falcao and Remy because that's like having 1.5 strikers.
November 26, 201510 yr Van Persie or Adebayor. Take your pick. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/nov/25/chelsea-diego-costa-jose-mourinho-striker-search
November 26, 201510 yr Van Persie or Adebayor. Take your pick. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/nov/25/chelsea-diego-costa-jose-mourinho-striker-search No thanks x 2. I know some folk will say could do a job but yet again it would be short-term. Surely we have learnt from countless mistakes. At some point we HAVE to think long-term. Just start giving Remy more games and let's have a look at Traore and Abraham.
November 26, 201510 yr Just like Barca fielded Munir last season when Suarez wasn't available yet?. I didn't see the world laughing their ass off. barca also have neymar and messi as part of their 3 pronged attack. incomparable, ridiculous and utterly irrelevant. edit: wow just saw that guardian article. 7 goals in 10 months? thats torres form. absolutely woeful return. Edited November 26, 201510 yr by CFC_RFC_TID!

Would you think before you type?. Who cares who plays along munir in their attack. No one mocked barca for playing munir, why would we be mocked for playing bamford, a youth from our academy?
November 26, 201510 yr Kane started from the bottom now he's feared Vardy started from rock bottom, now he's laughing at the likes of Costa, Aguero, Falcao, Rooney.......I bet most of them have never even played ten on the trot. Edited November 26, 201510 yr by coco
November 26, 201510 yr Kane started from the bottom now he's feared Spurs really lucked out with him, I just think he may be lightning in a bottle. I mean sure we could put Solanke or Bamford in the team but there's no guarantees that they will make the leap he did.
November 26, 201510 yr Spurs really lucked out with him, I just think he may be lightning in a bottle. I mean sure we could put Solanke or Bamford in the team but there's no guarantees that they will make the leap he did. I agree but I'd also hate to die wondering i haven't given up on costa yet
November 26, 201510 yr Spurs really lucked out with him, I just think he may be lightning in a bottle. I mean sure we could put Solanke or Bamford in the team but there's no guarantees that they will make the leap he did. As ever its about right Time, right place. Kane was expected to leave on loan wasn't he? But that Spanish lad and adebayor were crap/injured, he got a run, scored goals.
November 26, 201510 yr As ever its about right Time, right place. Kane was expected to leave on loan wasn't he? But that Spanish lad and adebayor were crap/injured, he got a run, scored goals. Unfortunately at Chelsea it NEVER seems to be the right time for a youngster. We either continue to play the crap player or just go out and spend a few million on an already established player.
November 26, 201510 yr A youngster will not be the answer Jose picks. Do we need 4 strikers though? If rvp or adebayor come who leaves? Are we able to send falcao back?
November 26, 201510 yr Really? Is that what Chelsea can get? Van Persie or Adebayor? We have young machines who scoring 40 goals in a season and dreaming about their chance, but we are looking for a 31 years old striker who hasn't played for a year and for a 32 years old striker who will ask for a huge payment which doesn't suit to his level anymore.
November 26, 201510 yr Unfortunately at Chelsea it NEVER seems to be the right time for a youngster. We either continue to play the crap player or just go out and spend a few million on an already established player.Yep, can't argue with that. Now proves it more than ever unfortunately.

November 26, 201510 yr Let's not forget he was injured too. Stats like that are stupid. It should be based on game time.
November 26, 201510 yr Van Persie or Adebayor. Take your pick. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/nov/25/chelsea-diego-costa-jose-mourinho-striker-search I pick the end of the world.
November 26, 201510 yr Unbelievably bad planning by the club, no scrap that, by Jose in fact, we have to hold him accountable for this. Not his fault Diego has gone so badly off the boil of course, but he simply has no faith in Remy as the lone front man, and he was quite content to have Falcao as his third striker, which seemed an absurd move at the time and so it has proved. No idea what he was thinking there. Basically, like so many of our other players, Diego knows he's getting a game no matter how badly he plays, because Jose simply doesn't rate the back-up. How's that for a motivation technique? I wouldn't mind Adebayor or Van Persie coming in the winter and I suspect somebody of that ilk will. Remember, this is just for half a season, and we still have things to play for, but those things are simply unattainable if we don't have a half-decent striker up top. We all know Jose prefers his established players, and while he's willing to give the odd youngster a chance, they need to be phased in, especially when it's a pressure cooker situation like this, with so much scrutiny. Those hoping Jose will just throw in Traore and let him sink or swim are living in dreamland. If that's not going to happen what's the best we can hope for? For my money it's a new striker this winter, as a stop-gap yes, but one that can apply a bit of pressure on Costa, genuine competition for his place. Short-term thinking yes, but if we're to have any chance of qualifying for next year's CL, I don't see what's particularly wrong with that. Adebayor is far from my favourite player, in fact I can't stand him, but right now I'd say he'd be more of a success as our lone front man than any of our current options. He has bags of ability, he has played under Jose before, he would love the opportunity, and he'd believe he deserves to play alongside top players. He also has a very good record as a short-term fix. He's also eligible for the CL I think. Van Persie? A far better player but an equally problematic character by all accounts. However these personality issues are unlikely to matter in a short-term deal, particularly as they'd be eager to impress. He may be past his peak and injuries may have taken their toll but again I'd fancy him right now to do better than what we've got. That's how desperate this situation has become. Signing a proven striker for the last four or five months of this season may be the difference between relative failure and success. Both players have experience of the PL and both have played at the highest level. They'd also have something to prove. Far from ideal, yes I agree, but our current situation demands pragmatism in my view, and a healthy dose of reality. Defoe signed for Sunderland last winter and his goals kept them up. No doubt his wage demands would have been excessive, considering he was playing in North America. Sometimes you have to take a pragmatic stance. Diego does not look happy. The season is nearly halfway through. Let's get somebody that wants to be here. Let's make a decent fist of what's left of this season, and then worry about next season next summer. No doubt there'll be a lot of changes, changes dependent on whether we make the CL.
November 26, 201510 yr Sorry but no. I would rather see Falcao out there for us than Adebayor or RVP and thst's saying spmething.
November 26, 201510 yr Let's not forget he was injured too. Stats like that are stupid. It should be based on game time. 100%... and on another note, I really hate the stats that go along the lines of "Sheffield Wednesday haven't beaten Chelsea in 27 years".. when in that 27 years they may have only played 3 times. I don't think having a bust up with your Manager means your hearts no longer in it, I think if anything it means the opposite. If he was done, I think he would have just taken Mourinho's words and ignored them. Yes, the second half of the Macabi game probably suggests he did just that, but perhaps he is not the hard man we so often expect 100% of the time and he was just a little rattled. I think his celebration against Norwich was one of "I know I've been poor and I know I must do more.. no exaggerated celebration here, lets get back to work". I'm backing him to get back to his best, but I have no problem with giving others a go and think we need another striker anyway.
