June 10, 201610 yr You'd think we'd have learned by now that buying expensive strikers doesn't translate automatically into goals. Selling a striker who we know can score consistently for us would be madness.

June 11, 201610 yr If he is keen to leave though. I think it would make sense. DDG was keen to leave United last season, but you simply dont keep selling your good players. How different would our season have been if we had kept the likes of Luis, Kdb, Lukaku who were all "keen to leave". The players have contracts and are bound to us till the end of the contract, so sometimes if we have to keep them against their will, then so be it. We should not sell Costa no matter what. Even a 50mil bid would be useless since we wont even be able to get Lukaku for that. The players we should be looking to sell are the likes of Oscar, Mikel, pato, falcao, remy, pedro.

Selling a striker who we know can score consistently for us would be madness. I don't understand fans sometimes. We have gone years without a goal scoring striker, we finally get one and people want rid because he's a bit fighty. I prefer a striker that battles and causes defenders sh*t loads of problems to spineless wimps like Torres, Remy etc. Costa is almost identical to Drogba the way he acts, he acted like a dick pretty often too.
June 11, 201610 yr I agree he needs to move on, but Remy gets way too much hate on here. Posted a superb goals to minute ratio when we won the league and then couldn't get a game when Costa was horribly out of form, no wonder he looked physically & mentally shot.

I think DDG value to united is far more than Costas to us. An unhappy player is never going to fulfil his true ability and it seems he wants to go home. You might have a point were we talking about hazard. The only reasons the names you mentioned wanted out was because they werent getting enough game time. Completely different scenario. Morata, Higuain Auba all good enough to replace and even better him.

Morata, Higuain Auba all good enough to replace and even better him. Each of them is playing in a club where they can play CL/EL, what makes you think they would even consider moving to chelsea? Where they dont know what happens next season, who the manager is and who the board is sacking? Costa's value for this squad is as much as DDG's to united. He is easily in the top 2 of our best players (level-wise) just behind Hazard, in my opinion. For years we had an over the hill DD, a useless torres, a mediocre Ba. Finally we have a top striker and I for one dont want him gone on the first sight of trouble. Some times you need to fight for things. And Costa is definitely a player I would want to fight for.
June 11, 201610 yr Tbh Conte signed Morata didn't get to play him because he resigned. Also after winning three serie A titles on the trot Im pretty sure Higuain knows who Conte is.
June 12, 201610 yr "According to the latest report in Spanish newspaper AS, Chelsea are not prepared to let Diego Costa go until they sign at least two strikers. AS reckon Antonio Conte is set to play his trademark 3-5-2 formation at Chelsea, and the Blues will have to sign at least two forwards, before considering selling Costa. It is reported Chelsea want Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain, and Romelu Lukaku this summer, and each of them are expected to cost at least €60m. Chelsea would expect Atletico Madrid to pay a similar figure for Costa, and they’d also have to match his yearly wages of €12m. Diego Simeone is very keen on bringing Costa, after losing two Champions League finals, and Atletico Madrid could very well try to convince Chelsea and the player, but any transfer looks very difficult at the moment. Costa was also initially keen on a return, but AS say he has his doubts now after Conte promised him a key role in the team."
June 12, 201610 yr A strike partner to costa? who do you think that would tandem well with him? is there any?
June 21, 201610 yr "According to the AS , the Brazilian born Spaniard has constantly been on the phone to his former club and agent Jorge Mendes to try and force an exit.Atletico boss Diego Simeone has been promised serious backing in the transfer market after deciding to stay with the Champions League finalists. And the Argentine reportedly has his heart set on a reunion with Costa. Atletiochiefs are apparently ready to do whatever they can to try and satisfy his request." These rumors about Costa just refuse to go away. If any of it is true, just sell him for a very healthy profit and invest elsewhere. Don't care if he's quality or not, no point keeping players who aren't up for the cause.
June 22, 201610 yr If Diego genuinely wants to leave then we should get Greizmann somehow in the deal. Personally i think Conte will convince him to stay. We shall see.
June 22, 201610 yr A strike partner to costa? who do you think that would tandem well with him? is there any? A more technical player, someone in the mould of aguero or suarez in terms of their playing style (obviously there's no one out there who's as good as those two, but that type of player) I think this is why everyone seems to think Morata would be a good shout.

Would be impossible I'm sure but Dybala definitely seems that kind of player.
June 23, 201610 yr costa could either be the lead striker in the way he has been for us, or he could be the hard running, occupy the second central defender, go into the channels type player he was for falcao, and for much of his early career. he isn't eidur gudjohnson, but he can be effective that way. and conte isn't adverse to playing his forwards in that style either.

I dont think Morata is a technical player at all. He is over 6ft 2 and isnt nimble or agile. He is much more costa, than aguero.
July 1, 201610 yr If he requested the transfer, give it to him. He clearly doesn't think Conte will be compatible with him. We've seen how important it is for him to have a good relationship with the manager. He was willing to move mountains for Hiddink and Simeone but was an embarrassment with Mourinho. If he feels he can't perform his best under Conte, better that he be honest about it than to stay and underperform.
July 1, 201610 yr Regardless of how he feels, learn from the Felipe Luis situation and have a replacement guaranteed before he goes. No more of this last minute panic buying, especially when there's a dearth of top 9's on the market. I would love him to stay and at least see how things go until January if he has to go.
July 1, 201610 yr Author Was pictured playing 5 a side wearing a Chelsea kit. I don't think he's going anywhere.
July 1, 201610 yr Was it last season around this time he was playing fusball in a Chelsea kit and he knocked over that kid lol
July 2, 201610 yr Was pictured playing 5 a side wearing a Chelsea kit. I don't think he's going anywhere. Better be 5 a side footie and not 5 course meals this summer
