Petr Cech appreciation thread

Featured Replies

Well there's a very good chance that Sunday is the last time we will be seeing Big Pete play for Chelsea in a competitive game.

So I thought that the man, the legend, the colossus should have a thread where we can all show our appreciation for the tremendous service he has given the club.

One of the greatest goalkeepers of his time and arguably Chelsea's all time best goalkeeper too.

Drogba often gets the plaudits for the penalty shoot out success in the Champions League final but Cech dove the right way for all six of Bayern's penalties and that's a testament to how good he truly is.

So allow me to be the first to say Thank you Petr!

Fellow Shed Enders please share your favourite Petr Cech memories, photos and videos.

We wouldn't have won the Champions League without him. He saved us numerous times against Barcelona including getting the slightest of touches onto the post late on. And of course the final - Robben's penalty save and the shootout.

Chelsea legend.

And let's not forget the save that won us the FA Cup

I've never noticed before but Iva nearly kicks himself in the head trying to block that shot too  ::clap2::

Best goalkeeper the Prem has even seen in my opinion. Very consistent and made some great saves that have kept us in many games throughout the years. If it wasn't for Courtois being so good he would have passed the clean sheet record with ease. He's been so underrated over the years.

The guy literally put his life on the line trying to protect our goal, nothing more can be said tbh.

Unfortunately he wouldn't have had to if it wasn't for that dirty c**t Hunt!

The guy is without a doubt a legend, it's amazing that we've had so many at the same time!

Thanks for everything Pete, you'll be sorely missed, best wishes to you and hopefully you decide to go abroad!

My heart will always rest with 'The Cat' as my all time great Chelsea keeper, but 'Big Pete' has been a rock for Chelsea's most successful period in our history (up to now) and for that he is for me a true legend of the club.
Not only has he been immense between the sticks, he's also conducted himself as a true gentleman and professional whilst representing us. the club and us fans could not have asked for more of the man.
Thanks Petr.

He's got at least another 4 or 5 years at the top level. I'd rather we kept him on as 1st choice than Courtois tbh.

Nah. Courtois is better.

But seriously it's heartbreaking to see him leave.. I would have wanted him to retire here... but it wasn't meant to be....

I hope he either goes to PSG than those red scums i.e Arsenal, United.

Adios, Cech I wouldn't be too sad if he went to them anyhow.. because he's earned the right to chose whatever club he wants. He's still one of the best keeper in the world and he deserves to be starting for one of the best clubs...

Agree completely on the Statue, it's a f**king must!

Complete and utter legend.

Yep, this.  A very hard working, intellectual man (how many languages does he speak?) who was never in the limelight fr any of the wrong reasons.  Something all professionals should aspire toward.

If I knew for sure that Sunday was his last day, I might weep at the end of the game.

Utterly brilliant goalkeeper. Everyone knows how great he is as a player but to come back from that injury showed the mental toughness of the man. To then handle being replaced with such dignity and decorum showed the measure of his character.

Wish he was staying but he's too good for that. Wherever he goes I'll wish him and his family well and thank him for everything he did. A massive legend and a huge part of this club forever.

What truly is the mark of him being a great man is the class he emanates when talking about Courtois. He's mentored (Albeit a prodigy) for a role he held for so many years, what a true and utter world class player and professional.

You know when he replaced Carlo I wasn't happy, Cudicini was my favourite keeper but Cech surpassed him not only as a player but also in my heart. Petr you are the best keeper we've ever had and I wish you nothing but luck (unless you go to Arsenal or United that is)

Cech surpassed Carlo in your heart?! I'm speechless!

Your love for Cudicini reminds me of my mum Val, she's a United fan but i bet she would still have Cudicini over De Gea even though he has retired :laugh2:
