John Stones

I was thinking we should get in Everton folk hero Duncan Ferguson as a coach. You know the guy that spent his life helping old people cross the road and selling lemonade on street corners to raise money for the local brownie group. Or maybe we could, sign Sylvian Distin, that angel who, whilst playing for Everton didn't have a three year relationship behind his partners back..

The faux moral outrage of halfwits strikes again I see.

Loz, these Blue scousers are the same DNA as the red lot, what do you expect ?

They moan about our cash on the hip, so you have to educate them on their own history and how they were once know as 'the Mersey millionaires', and  they had match fixing rampant throughout their team in the 60's with one player jailed.

Honestly throughout this whole saga the conduct of some Everton fans has really disappointed me. I always quote liked Everton but some of the stuff I've heard has been a eye opener.

It simply has to be a geographical thing. The whole self righteous attitude the whole 'we are Everton we are different and we are special' and we have even had the history stuff too. Obviously we have had all this before from their neighbours but I just expected so much more. The utter naivety has been staggering too.

Not one for going onto other forums but someone sent me a link to the Grand Old Forum website and it was like a hive of the worst arrogance of Bluemon mixed with the grotesque paronoid delusion of the YNWA forum or whatever it's called. Apparently Stones 'understands' what Everton are all about and they genuinely think he will only choose to go to Barcelona when they come calling. For £50 million.

And they pretty much all think this.

Everton fans are deluded and so naive...last time I checked, cfc fans hadn't paid for a plane to fly a banner over Stamford bridge to moan about the status of our club

Hate to break the news to you, Brit.  But there is, genuinely, a Twitter page dedicated to "Jose Out."  Popped up after the City game, and rightfully is being derided by all true fans.

I don't think Jose's a particularly "nice" person when it comes to how he portrays himself at times but these idiots are claiming that he's ruining the club and that we should never have got rid of RDM.

Sometimes I wonder if giving everyone and sundry access to a potentially unlimited audience is a good thing?

Although...I've just checked the twitter page again and I think the lad has realized he's onto nothing here and it's now become a bit of a parody.

Yep, pretty shocked by it too (although I've not gone to an Everton forum to fully check it out).  But I was surprised at some of the posts.  Had to re-read them and make sure it was "the right part of Liverpool" that we were dealing with

Pardon me for asking but who do you believe to be player role model? A racist man who sleeps with his friends wife?

before you make yourself look stupid it might be an idea to research what you're saying. which of our players slept with their friends wife?? im pretty sure none of our squad have done that... if youre referring to terry, the term youre looking for is 'ex-girlfriend', which is very different to wife

I remember a time where we had almost an all black squad with Terry and Lampard at times practically the only white outfielders, an overt racist must have had a hard time, training day in day out, eating with, changing besides, celebrating and hugging all those horrible black men, poor fella must have been in a nightmare, he did a really good job of acting like they were good pals, especially with Ashley and Drog, there are very few white men, or any other colour for that matter on earth that hasn't made a racial slur in anger, not hating the race or believing they are inferior, just a moment of anger, the guy is black and also happens to be a c**t, so he was described, it's not nice and we don't think he was right, and I'm sure he regretted it, race isn't something people chose and shouldn't be held against them but he is far from a racist, it's a ridiculous assertion if his black team mates thought he was racist why did they come out in support of him.

From watching them both, I don't think Stones is any better than Dier, in fact they are the exact same player, and I doubt even Levy would be asking for £40m for Dier. Only difference is Stones is being hyped up by the media and the other has gone unnoticed.

It's called RAWK (Red and White Kop). How dare you to claim ignorance regarding the best ever forum of the world's most magnificent club with the greatest history ever since the beginning of time.

In 1982 that forum was a rockin'. Best forum there ever was. Some say it still is even if they have an Europa League thread there.

It's one of those magical European threads at RAWK.

Everton let Alcaraz and Distin leave over the summer, so other than Jagielka and Stones their only options at centre back are Browning and Galloway, who are both youth players with fewer than ten first-team appearances between them. Regardless of the Stones situation, Everton probably need to sign a new centre back, especially considering Galloway is currently filling in at left back for the injured Baines.

Ah yeah good points, tbh I think we could do some sort of deal for Stones where he stays there on loan for a season as he's probably gonna struggle to get into our team this season. Although him training with Terry sooner rather than later would be better.

Maybe we could offer them Christensen.

I can't think of any £30 million plus transfers where the player stays at their club for the season before he moves.

If he's going for that much he has to come here IMO.

Well that's true, just seems they aren't willing to play ball so not sure what we can do. I mean raising the price may get him but it also may not.

Yeah it's an awkward one.

We really don't NEED a CB right now but next season we may, I think we are aware the interest Stones is getting so don't fancy going toe to toe with those teams next Summer or January thus needing to do it now.

We must be getting some indication he is attainable otherwise it would be a complete waste of time dragging this out for more than a month with several failed bids.

Not for £40m!!! I seriously don't get why we don't just buy varane and give Everton the finger, There will be more top english defenders on the way in the next season or two and we have loaned plus sold some quality players to them recently, Fair play to the Chelsea board/Jose, So patient, must of had the right indications to sign him etc..

no squad spaces for foreign players.

no squad spaces for foreign players.

This is a key point.

When Terry hangs up his boots Jose wants his replacement to be like for like and a mainstay in the side.

I think he see's much of a young JT in Stones and wants him to build this side on in the coming seasons.

Yeah it makes sense to get him now rather than get caught in a bidding war next season. Also I think it would be great for him to work with Terry right now.

Yeah something's not right here, I does seem it's a case of what they consider the 'right' price.

Give us the finger!?!? We don't want to sell him. You walking away would be a universally happy event for all Evertonians and the club.

The self-righteous thing could easily apply to all the posts here which wilfully disregard everything Everton have said about the matter. FFS I've seen people put together team sheets for CFC with Stones in them.

We have the Prem champions willing to pay 35-40m (in all likelihood) but 50m is deluded?

I think it will get done around 35 million. Everton signed some guy from Riverplate so I think Stones is going to go. It's an open question as to where he'll end up.

Funes Mori is a 3rd/4th choice defender and in no way in any reality a replacement for Stones. We released two defenders this summer so we are signing replacements. Nothing to do with Stones.

Martinez didn't have a problem talking about lukaku last summer though did he?

Lukaku was for sale.

How has this taken a month to get nowhere yet apparently the Pedro negotiations took about two hours?

Because Pedro was for sale.

seems to be quite a few everton fans around the net who think he'll be gone this window, but they're more concerned about receiving a good fee for him, as well as wanting to receive it now than at the latter end of the window so they can get someone else in.
