John Stones

Featured Replies

Jose see's him as JT's successor.

He obviously thinks he's worth the gamble and in the long terms would be a better option than the others mentioned like Hummels.

It's been clear he's the main target of our window, I guess we have to trust Jose and the club here.

Maybe he should have been kept but as it stands he has played 2 PL games to Stones' 46. Not to mention he isn't as good.

If given the same games perhaps Kala could be even better. As mentioned, his one glowing chance was against one of the best attack this league has ever seen, in a pressure cooker title deciding tilt, and he played a damn near perfect game.

The English element sure. But Zouma cost us 12m. Not much difference in quality there certainly not 28m worth. Are we paying 28m purely because he is English? That is crazy.

Firstly this is immensely offensive to Cahill. Bloke has been a cornerstone of our defence for Premier League, Champions League and Europa League wins. He's hardly tiding us over and certainly has done better than the more fancied and expensive Luiz.

Secondly Stones is a long way off being JT. If we were taking 40m for Hummels then sure that's fair. You replace a champion with a champion. But paying 40m for someone who might not even be in your first choice pairing for a while is a huge risk. It's a vanity purchase of the kind we could do without.

I like Cahill, but please don't make out he's something he isn't - world class. It wasn't offensive in anyway, my point is that we need someone with the potential to be world class to replace JT, and the general consensus is that Stones is that person. I haven't once said he's worth the £40m fee quoted, in fact look back and you'll see I said it was ridiculous. It's just the way football is and we have to accept that English players are going to cost double what a foreigner is.

If's and but's. Point is he hasn't been given that game time.

We arent paying 40 mill for Stones because hes English, we are paying it because we really want him and Everton wont sell. If they were looking to sell it wouldnt be close to 40

Gary Neville's chimed in:

"Terry and their transfer target, John Stones, could play 25 or 35 games each for Chelsea in the transition phase. All parties would benefit. If Chelsea were to have Terry, Gary Cahill, Stones and Kurt Zouma – what a quartet of centre-backs that would be. You need four at title-winning and Champions League level, though of course Mourinho loves a settled back-four.

If Chelsea were to sign a John Stones, Terry becomes the most important player at Chelsea for the next three seasons. If Stones could watch Terry in games 15 times a season and in training three times a week then his own development will be greatly enhanced."

Stones is yet to hand in a transfer request, but will do so should the deal drag on into next week as #CFCcfc.png prepare a bid of £35m (Mail) #EFC

Chelsea will also try to convince Everton's center back John Stones and the expected offer is 55 million Euros. #CFCcfc.png #EFCefc.png (via @sport)

35m is a lot of money for a centre-back. Although Man City just paid 32m for Otamendi. And about the same for Mangala.

I guess we're calculating that over ten years, Stones is a good investment and might eventually come to be seen as a bargain.

That depends, of course, if he turns out to be as good as people say he is.

You're not going to get Stones, so don't worry about it. New contract in the offing.

Bill Kenwright, it's an honour to have you on our forum.

Can you please talk to some of your fans on here, I think they may be getting on people's nerves.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Utd end up with Stones just so they can get some credibility back....w**kers

Meh. f**k em. f**k em all.
