Wouldnt surprise me if there is another twist or 2 to come yet in this window however if I was a betting man Id bet on him being a united player this time next year now

At this point even a 40m offer wouldn't be accepted.

I think if they turned down a bid of 40m they will probably lose out a bit on the fee next season, it would be pretty unheard of to reject a transfer request 2 seasons on the trot.

I think it's best to bide our time, let cahill get onto him on international duty, then next summer push for him when I think he will likely still be willing to put a transfer request in to join us.

The only thing i can even remotely see happening is Stones still says he wants to go.Hands in a 2nd TR for example.

Statement is pretty definitve

can't say i'm disappointed. english players are getting ridiculously priced tagged, i think it's time to bring a couple players through the youth system (to cover the home grown quota and also what we should be doing anyway) and bring in a varane or laporte next summer - forget chasing these expensive english talents.

I feel we should just walk away now. No more deals with everton, no loans free or fee based, no more transfers. If kenwright calls his old mate Bruce buck looking for a favour tell him to do one.

I base this on Martinez consistently besmerching our club time and again for doing things he is more than happy to do himself.

There must be other good young players out there we can sign other than stones.

Expect sudden influx of Everton cronies who were quiet as mice when he put in the transfer, I hope a mod closes the thread so they don't get the satisfaction

Don't worry mate your mods are already pulling our posts even if they're not breaking any rules so no need to fear.

lol mate, know it all don't ya?

It's not just posts made by Everton fans (please get it right before the sarcastic comments commence) that are being 'pulled' but any from our lot that aren't about the player too. As I said on the first page after the previous thread descended into pure embarrassment, anything that goes off topic will be deleted. It just takes one comment for it to escalate and if you want to discuss the conduct of the club, manager, fans or whatever then there are plenty of other topics and of course private messaging.

I got your PM which I would have replied too first but as you're querying it openly then I'll reply here.

This 100%, if he improves at the rate he is then Champions League clubs will come knocking, especially if he plays at and has a decent Euro's. Everton always seemingly stayed strong with Baines too but then again was Man Utd's interest genuine or media driven? Baines never handed in a transfer request either.

Either way, the most disturbing thing about this is a young man's head will probably be screwed up for the foreseeable, hopefully it doesn't affect him too much.

Time to walk away for now. Come in for less money after Everton finish 8th next summer.

Until then heres hoping we dont give Everton a thing as far as loans or transfers go unless they pay an exorbitant amount for it. I hope they try to buy Moses in January and Jose tells them hes not for sale

It's not the end of this just yet, it's just waiting for the next phase, the bit where Stones and his people insist on a transfer.

Quote from weaintgotnohistory ...

"It will be interesting to see how it affects Everton in the long run, however, especially in how young, talented players handle negotiations going forward"

Spot on.

Begrudging respect to them for sticking to their guns, but also a massive f**k off to the way they played the victim, and poured sh*t on us for having the 'temerity' to bid on one of their players.

And Martinez, what a grade A c**t he is.

Tbh i cant see how insisting changes it.

Not sure why people now suddenly hate Everton and Martinez. All he has done is he is trying to keep hold of his best players. I have absolutely no grudge towards their aims. If they just folded over and let go their backbone they would be heading to a more difficult season and it would just emphasize the gap between us and them. Which in truth is not that big in terms of football.

Stones has shown his desire to leave and that is somewhat damaging to his relationship with the club but Martinez seemed to praise him after their cup game. Admittedly he did it on purpose as he went overboard on how good he was in the defense line that conceded 3 goals against a lowly side.

If we manage to get him good if not we need to find a replacement and quick.

Unless of course Martinez is an idiot...........

the deal could still be on.

It's that simple.

And I'm beginning to type like you!

Soon everyone could be at it.

It's that simple.

Pretty much sums up my views too. If it were Man Utd, City etc coming in for him then I'd be dead chuffed Everton stuck to their guns, so I can't be too pissed off with them for that, if we're thinking in an unbias sense of course. I still hope he flourishes even if it means a move to another bigger (in terms of challenging for titles wise) club in the next season or too, wouldn't like to see his form dip because he's unhappy.
