August 11, 20169 yr He's gone lets get over it. At 20 years old he's getting a chance to play in Europe which he won't here. He is a good player with loads of potential and I think he can come back from this. I think he needs to bulk up a bit and goes to ground too easily. If he's learning this at another club, so be it. The whole Europe things isn't exactly a big factor, who is to say he will even get in their side over players who are Ajax's own. The Dutch league is of a poor standard, a few game sin Europe isn't going to change very much for the lad given the teams we play week in week out are of a much higher standard.
August 11, 20169 yr Both still here at the moment I believe! Maybe one of them will be our 3rd/4th choice (if we get someone else in). Don't we have Tammy aswell?
August 11, 20169 yr Could mean either we can't shift Remy or lukaku is coming. Could also mean Ruben has a season playing up front. Which will be interesting... I do think he has some attributes to play like a target striker but I wouldn't expect many goals. It's a shame but he has Costa and batshuayi ahead of him never mind any other possible signings given he can't be a back to goal target striker.

August 11, 20169 yr I do find it strange that some clubs in the premier league don't take a chance in loaning someone like Traore. Exposure to this league will increase his value if he does well but I imagine when you look at someone like Bamford. It doesn't always work out as they could just sit on the bench for the season.

First thing I thought when I saw this loan was we can't move remy on, so one has to go and traore on loan is pretty much the only deal available.
August 11, 20169 yr The European game angle won't amount to much if Ajax either don't qualify from their group or come 4th in the group stages. He would have been better off playing in the PL (Hull?), or even mid table clubs in Germany/Spain where the stand is much higher. It is a downward move IMO, and a missed opportunity on developing a talent without the pressure of European football. I have a sneaky feeling we are buying another forward, which you have to question considering we don't have European football

We aren't talking about Ajax here we are talking about Traore. If it's a downward move (and it may be, I wanted him to stay) then he should boss it. Fact is it's a chance to prove himself, a chance which he wouldn't have got here this season.
August 11, 20169 yr I'm sorry to see him go as I have long wanted him to become the first massive Burkinabè superstar at Chelsea, but it does make sense for his development. Costa, Batshuayi and Rémy is a good striking triumvirate, and his chances will be extremely limited in the first team as fourth or (at best) third-choice centre-forward. He's going to a very strong side, who are playing in Europe, and who have a world class record of developing young talent. Obviously it would have been ideal for him to remain in England, but Ajax is about as good an alternative as we are likely to get. Agreed.

Regardless of the quality of the league if he goes there and plays regularly then that is way better for his development than sitting on our bench.
August 11, 20169 yr Remy will leave, that currently leaves us with two strikers...unless of course we bring in someone else, which now seems obvious, I hope Traore has a great season, because he's talented and likeable.

I wish I could agree with this, I really do... but at least in other news I have learnt a new word in "triumvirate" I personally think Costa, Batshuayi and Rémy would be an incredibly risky trio to start the season with, up front. Costa will be number one, and when on form he is up to the task, but he has had his own injury issues over the last 12 months so quality back up is massively important if we want to stay competitive. Remy has a long history of serious injuries and that was no more apparent than last season when he was injured almost every time Costa was out, so sadly never benefited in a run of games in Costa's absence. He also hasn't kicked a ball in pre-season. Michy is a complete unknown quantity in the Premier League. I hope he hits the ground running but he has never played a Prem game in his life, doesn't speak English and as a young lad adapting to a new league, it would be crazy to expect too much too soon. Traore on the other hand was clearly developing as we would have hoped, built up a decent amount of minutes last season scoring goals along the way, and then featured regularly in pre-season, again notching along the way. What more does he have to do to be given the nod? For me, out of the current 4 on the books he was arguably second choice. At least on a par with Michy until Michy settled and proved otherwise. There might well me another striker coming in, so let's wait and see, but as it is I think we are potentially one long term injury to Costa away from being in serious trouble and light years behind our main competitors in terms of fire power up top, and letting Traore go is just making the situation worse.
August 11, 20169 yr The culture of demanding instant and constant success at Chelsea along with the revolving door on managers means that youth players will always be the first to suffer. A manager isn't going to risk or put faith in playing youngsters when the demands on them are so high. It's been that way for almost 15 years now, not sure why some expect it to change. Pretty much every club is moving their managers on after a season or two though and they still manage to give younger players a chance. I don't think there is any defence for this decision. Why even bother playing him in pre-season when we are just going to loan him out ? the same goes with Moses, i bet he get's put out on loan in the next few weeks. I like Remy but surely Traore has more of a future here than him. I'm tired of the false hope for our youngsters, what is the point in us having a youth team that can win the youth Champions League and F.A cup so often and then loan those players out every single season instead of using them ? I bet Christensen is the next that will never get a real chance here. He'll probably go out on loan again next season and then we will eventually sell him and buy someone for something between £30m-£50m.

August 11, 20169 yr This loan move has certainly raised eyebrows, but a move to a top side in Holland like Ajax is far from the worst move a player like Traore can make plus he will be exposed to UCL football and playing for a good side in the Dutch league. If he does well with Ajax, he has to be considered as a future prospect as a striker with the club. Our constant emphasis to send our academy players and youth out on loan can only get us so far and is beginning to become tiresome for supporters. We need to bite the bullet at some point and start showing some faith in our youngsters even though it's likely it will come at the cost of short-term pain. The onus is on the club to re-evaluate its expectations to an extent and be realistic when it comes to having patience in the manager and the development and foundation he is building.
August 11, 20169 yr The common stages of Chelsea transfer and loan policy grief. Disbelief, anger, bargaining, reasoning, acceptance with the world as it is for us. On the one hand: more game time, let's him develop a bit more more european football than we're playing some reports say he asked for the move possibility that this year we have to play with one up front more often, not traore's strength On the other: why did we play him so much more than michy in preseason then? he has only two years left on his contract our miserable record with you and good talent in general makes you think he's slipping away we may well buy some overpriced striker instead, blocking the future path of traore and one of solanke/abraham/bamford i was hoping we would look at this season as a two year plan - first get back in to top four (no easy task with this defence), then next year challenge again. so if we had any time to be a bit more flexible, it's this season. instead, as everyone knows, we have a terrible board and track record of long term planning, and there are no signs of it changing.

Jezz , sorry to be pesemistic here but nothing in our history points to him getting a chance however he played at Ajax . He is playing for a transfer . Nothing else List of players in the last 12 years to do excellent out on loan from the to of my head Sturrdige Lukaku Kdb Forsell- out scored all our strikers while out on loan Nathan Ake - despite us having no left back and suspect center backs Bertrand, now England left back replaced by Luis who managed a season, baba , who managed a season and now... At one time or another the Above players could arguably have done a better job then who we paid huge money for. Imagine never buying Torres and putting faith in sturrdige, keep wrong berti saves you about 22 million at least The only success story is TBO and I guess he did win laliga and almost the CL
August 11, 20169 yr We are great at identifying talent and bringing them to the club but we are terrible at integrating them into our own side.
August 11, 20169 yr We've got no European football, so the need for lots of squad depth and playing youth is a bit farther down the pipe as it is a massive risk when all league games are important. I think Conte knows what he has with some established players so he was trying different formations, tactics, and lineups in preseason. He was evaluating Traore and probably came to the conclusion that he's just not up for it yet. I'm OK with the loan, and put my faith in the manager who sees these players on the training pitch to make the right squad decisions.
August 11, 20169 yr Livid, but not entirely shocked. Kids aren't the future at Chelsea FC. We send them all on loan because we can.
