Tammy Abraham

And yet he still scores goals even when performing badly.

I don't think anyone is calling for him to be an undisputed starter but we aren't going to get a better rotation/back up striker thats willing to sit on the bench than him.

Its actually harder to leave the bloke who is scoring out, even though is all round game isn't up to scratch at this point in his career.

Tammy Abraham has scored 21 goals in 33 PL games he started. None of these goals were from penalty.

Just read it, sorry if someone has posted it and I missed it.

This isn't actually correct. You're including all his prem goals but you haven't included all his appearances where some of his goals have come off the bench.

These stats are only the games where he started. It didn't include the games from the bench.

He's low-key becoming our own version of Pippo Inzaghi, he just needs to be more often in offside 👀

He really isn’t what we need. The fact he was joking and laughing with Leicester players last night after full time shows up his mentality. Never an elite mentality.

Take us back to Lampard, Drogba and Terry days, after a defeat you’d never see anyone joking or laughing after a defeat.

This modern football mentality is weak as hell and I hate it.

Maybe it's just me but rivalries aren't really a thing these days amongst players, everyone is friends with each other for the most part so it's not surprising to see them smiling and laughing at full time. It annoys me as well to be honest but that's just how it is now.

In regards to his ability as a player, he's is a perfectly fine squad player and still has room to improve. You aren't going to get better strikers than him willing to sit on the bench.

I think you're being a bit harsh here. Zlatan laughed and joked with our player's when we stuffed United 4-0 and Drogba himself did similar with Carragher after we lost at Anfield (think in the same match Ash was caught laughing with someone on the bench). All three of them had elite mentality's.

He's a bit invisible but then again most of the players have been... He does have this natural ability to score out of nowhere so that's a valuable thing to have.

I'm not sure if he's doing as well as he should against the bigger teams but at least against Arsenal he knows how to score so that's a big plus.

Has a lot of flaws in his game, but scoring isn't one of them.

Mmm.. blue sky thinking for me, Giroud only got a look in as Tammy was misfiring in front of goal earlier in the season all be it normally from crosses.

Today he finished well so I expect him to start next match and hopefully he keeps the momentum going.

Go back through this thread and you will find several who wrote him off as simply not good enough for us. No doubt many of them will still say he is not.

1 and a half seasons of being in and out of the side and he has produced scoring figures like that.

Because of Havertz, Werner and Lampard the stick has been shifted from Tammy. We are seeing though that sometimes patience pays off.

Tammy's numbers have been pretty consistent since he joined the first team a year and a half ago. He averages a goal about every 2.5 games which is a decent return considering a lot of those appearances are from the bench. There has been a suggestion that he only scores against the weaker teams but that isn't entirely correct either. He managed goals against Arsenal, Bayern, and Liverpool last season for example. Of course he misses chances but so do most strikers. He is also still young, especially for a striker, and will hopefully improve with experience. It remains to be seen whether he is first choice striker in the longer term but he definitely should be part of our squad and I have no doubt he will continue to score regularly when called on.

That is not entirely the way it worked out though. When we were on our best run of the season in October/November Tammy was scoring fairly regularly. Missing chances too admittedly but we were still on a very good run. Then Giroud got his chance largely through rotation in the Champions League and scored 4 at Sevilla. He was almost undroppable after that and so started against Leeds in the next game, scoring again. Just like that Tammy lost his starting spot for a while, and then our form started to wobble (coincidentally I think). Tammy was restored to the starting lineup against West ham and scored 2 important goals. He then scored our consolation against Arsenal before being benched against Villa. I wouldn't say he has had a noticeable goal drought when playing at any point this season. Certainly not like Werner.

Should of started tonight, scored 6 in the last 3 against Wolves, why wasn't Tuchel informed ? Or did he just disregard the stat ?

You score a hat trick as a striker you surely must keep the spot for the next game.

Like I said you score a hat trick you do not leave out a striker. Giroud was hopeless today and I do not know if Tammy touched the ball in his 15 minutes.

Got subbed at halftime - not sure injury or tactical. If tactical then he must be worried about his future under Tuchel already.

Looked tactical to me. Was a terrible first half from him. He's still young but not a baby and I really don't see him progressing to the level needed to be the main man for a big club. Doesn't possess a killer strike like Jimmy Floyd or the technical hold up play like Drogba. God how I miss proper strikers.

@KonaKai Blue I think the same of Tammy not quite good enough to be the main striker though as backup  may work well.

I read in a paper today that Bamford is aiming for England and sees Ings, Calvert-Lewin, Rashford and Kane ahead of him yet will keep trying.
