December 18, 201510 yr Eddie Newton has returned to the bench: http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2015/12/18/10539290/chelsea-staff-post-mourinho-changes-steve-holland-eddie-newton-lollichon
December 18, 201510 yr So another "long term" solution then ;) I do not think long term is possible in football today. Sir Alex Ferguson was a diamond in the rough and his best work was when he was established for many years. We do no have a chance of long term management in 2015/16 era. Name a top manager who has been at a top club for more than 3/4 years in the last 10 years at least. The best managers go to bigger clubs and continue to achieve things. Only a English manager would last many years at one club, but no foreign I do not think.

December 18, 201510 yr I thought we had one till yesterday. .... As much as I hoped he would stay longer at Chelsea than the regular three years he averages at a club, but deep down I knew it wasn't going to last. I never anticipated it would end on a such a low note, though.
December 18, 201510 yr I can't be the only person who is fed up about hearing constant talk everywhere about Guardiola. The level of sycophantic fanboyism is up there with middle-aged women with 4 kids and saggy.. and stretchmarks creaming their pants and throwing them on stage at a Take That concert. He's a football manager not someone who has found the cure for Aids.
December 18, 201510 yr Anyone know why Pep isn't keen to extend with Bayern? Seems like the perfect job. Probably wants a new challenge, must get boring winning the league every year with ease.
December 18, 201510 yr believe me, he will be here in the summer. we will buy the appropriate players needed and we will have wembley (a bigger pitch for his tactics) by then and it will all fall into place come summer. man city are arrogant and think they definitely have him because of their board, but i just believe he will be here. he has flirted with us in the past, wants to come to london and roman wants him and will go all out for him until we get him. when roman decides we want someone, he will make sure marina granovskaia gets him at all costs. bookmark this and come back next summer (or before) when he's announced on a 3/4 year contract here. Roman already went all out for him and failed. If youve read any of the interviews, books on Pep its pretty obvoious were not a club he wants to manage
December 18, 201510 yr Roman Abramovich watched Chelsea's training session today at Cobham. #CFC Hiddink will not be in charge of the team against Sunderland, but is expected to be in the Stamford Bridge stands (Telegraph) #CFC

December 18, 201510 yr Well sounds like guus is taking a good, long hard look at everything. Hopefully that means he gets the right answers to sort the mess out, or he turns the job down.
December 18, 201510 yr hope he tells them to shove it........... unfortunately if they wave enough money at him, he will accept the 'rotten apples' no problem and that in a nutshell is the Russian's whole philosophy
December 18, 201510 yr Well if Hiddink does turn us down there's always Iain Dowie. There's always Iain Dowie.
December 18, 201510 yr Haha the only bit of that which applies to you is the pants-throwing part! Yeah, I've only got three kids!
December 18, 201510 yr I think Hiddink is a better fit for the players we have at the moment. He will have the team organized, moving and utilizing our passing game to a greater degree. Will be interesting to see which players he favors and which he feels aren't up to par.
December 18, 201510 yr Hiddink knows a few of the players from his first time here. He also knows the club well. Whoever takes the job will have to deal with the 'bad apples' and any resulting tension between squad members. I remember when Malouda and Alex were removed from the first team by AVB for no obvious offenses. The club supported that at the time. They must know who these bad apples are. For the sake of the squad morale it may be practical to isolate these players too, and look to offload them in January.
December 18, 201510 yr He's two years older than José and has been in management for nearly 20 years! Well they say you learn something new every day, certainly looks younger than Jose.
December 18, 201510 yr The same could be said about Mourinho among certain Chelsea fans to be perfectly honest... With Guardiola it's worse. The oh he reinvented football. I heard some journo say the reason more goals are scored in football is due to Guardiola and his philosophy. Seriously what a load of Juande Ramos. Then there are the constant daily updates from sources who have no idea what he's planning. Just because someone speaks German or Spanish it does not give them extra insight. Has any other football manager taken a sabbatical, most managers are in work or out of work but he gets a bloody sabbatical. Then there are the countless books from people who may have bumped into him in the street claiming to be his BFF. Whatever is written in these books is then repeated as Gospel of what he is doing. Then there are all the teenage bloggers who have never watched a game in the flesh writing tactical analyses just reading whoscored stats who don't actually support a team they support a manager.
December 18, 201510 yr The funniest thing about people wanting Guardiola is they are more than likely the same people who want a long term manager. Yeah, thats Pep alright.....
