Guus Hiddink - New (old) Chelsea-manager

Featured Replies

I must of slept through the part where AVB did the double the season prior, or where AVB had won Chelsea 3 BPL titles, or where this current squad had won more than the manager.

You might not grasp it, but there's a huge difference in a proven squad running out a manager who has no relation to the club and no success here versus a squad of player trying to push out the most successful manager in the clubs history, the manager who just helped bring a double and by a squad who almost to a man never won the league with this club until said manager lead them to it.

But ya, pretty much the same situation. Let's see this squad go on and win the CL now, cause thats what happened in the AVB scenario. Betting on it?

Edit: Sorry, they'll need to win the CL and the FA cup.... sadly this squad isn't half what that other one was. They wouldnt be fighting relegation if they were.

Exactly. AVB isn't a fan favorite, he won naught with us. Its understandable for ppl to be hurt about Jose leaving. Just stop with the player power thing, didn't care about it then why care now?.

I Kek'd at your second paragraph though. Its okay for one squad to 'chase away' the manager because he's unproven while its not for another because the manager is proven right?

I think you'll need to re-read my post again.  If you are comparing this example of player power to previous, then don't stop there but bring out the apples and oranges while you're at it.

Oh you meant that second paragraph? Lol. Insightful explanation.

If only most of you fought against player power like this when AVB got sacked. The same ballsy Lamps, Didier, Terry etc were here and results were sh*te. Didn't they turn a corner when AVB left?. Bet most wouldn't have minded if it wasn't Jose.

Just to clarify some thing, both avb and jose were too blame for players turning against them.. on scolari, ever wonder why?

I went against the players power during ancelotti 2nd season and that's probably the only 1..

Hopefully he puts Kennedy and RLC in the first team, and boots Fabregas, Ivanovic, Costa and Hazard to the bench so they can see what it looks like when players actually give a f**k.

RLC still won't have a chance because Fabregas will now step up and the assist will start coming in

what? are you saying he's the ring leader after all? lol...

Fabregas (and Dave) are the only players who have bothered to come out and publicly thank Jose since its happened, it would be odd if he actually were the ringleader.

Media are saying Steve Holland will be in charge for the Sunderland match. I'm sure it will be announced today and Guus will at least meet the players.

How long does it take to fly from Holland?!

It takes less time to get from Amsterdam to London than it would from Glasgow.

I have great respect and admiration for Guus Hiddink, but I can't even begin to predict how a new short tenure will work out with the current group of Chelsea players.

If the players are really out of form, Hiddink will have as much success of getting them back as Mourinho did. So none. If the players take him seriously and are willing to step up and he has them playing differently, then hopefully we may see some improvement.

It's like groundhog day isn't it, first Jose comes back now Hiddink.

I am eagerly awaiting the appointment of young, up and coming coach Andre Villas-Boas in the summer.

I hear he's being doing well at Zenit and will be available! [emoji1]

Hiddink is the logical choice.

In the summer Id love Conte to come in, He did great stuff at Juventus.

Absolutely no way, Conte did well at a club that essentially had one team in it, Juve only did well in Europe once he had gone. I've watched almost every game Italy have played since he's been in charge and if you thought Jose played boring football that's nothing compared to Conte's old fashioned rigid football. He is a very poor man's Jose and would be a terrible appointment in my opinion.

Good choice if true.

Has an affinity with the club, the fans and the owner.

Bottom line, it needs to be somebody like him to appease the fans.

There's going to be a lot of emotion this weekend.

Simeone in the summer is the only choice.

The best manager in the world, by miles.

I'm amazed how you want simeone, I watched a lot of Madrid on there run to the title mainly because of Costa rumors. He is very very like Jose

Opposition have worked us out and we don't have the benefit of adaptability with this current group of players - I have sympathy for Guus and won't think anything less of him if results don't improve.

They've worked out how to beat their half arsed performance of Jose's tactics, I think we will change to use our best assets more, ie. balls out fast attacking and just try to score more than the opposition.

Forget meticulous tracking back and slowing the game down in favour of keeping possession, the players might enjoy themselves more as well if that was their main problem with Jose.

He's two years older than José and has been in management for nearly 20 years!

And has won f**k all. (Ever, I think!)
