May 15, 201610 yr I wonder what is going through Conte's mind. When he signed the contract, we were unbeaten and optimistic. Not the case anymore. I wonder if he is having doubts about the decision and/or wishes he had negotiated more control over transfers and things like that.

Chances of a European finish then weren't really in the cards even though they were possible. I'm sure nothing's changed where concept was concerned
May 16, 201610 yr if we had shown throughout the season how we played the past 2/3 games, we would have been up there. i think conte is needed and it will (or should) provide the much needed motivation and change that is needed. next season will obviously be tougher with pep and (potentially) mourinho joining the league, as well as better players joining the top clubs. it will depend if we can keep hold of our best players though, or if they're sold, then replaced with similar quality.
May 16, 201610 yr As things stand we will struggle with the players we have. We need to bolster almost every department with top quality players. IF we do that then we have a chance...if we don't I doubt we will finish top 4.
May 16, 201610 yr Very hard to bolster the team we'd like to without CL. It means that much. Nainggolan would have probably come if we could offer him that. Why leave Roma for these struggles? We need to be fast and smart with the recruiting.

May 16, 201610 yr I wonder how clubs who don't have CL ever sign anyoneThey sign but it is harder and in the case of Nainggolan, which is purely speculation of course, you can see why he decides to stay at Roma. Money is there naturally and we can offer it. Our last window with Jose was a joke and we can't make that mistake again.
May 16, 201610 yr I wonder how clubs who don't have CL ever sign anyone They have to feed from the crumbs left behind, sometimes those crumbs left behind make a good meal.
May 16, 201610 yr They have to feed from the crumbs left behind, sometimes those crumbs left behind make a good meal. We need to find the gems that are good, but can be taken to the next level rather than the finished article. Best example I can think of is Liverpool signing Suarez with no CL
May 16, 201610 yr Conte acquitted from the fraud charges, good to see. An Italian judge acquitted Antonio Conte, the future coach of English Premier League club Chelsea, for allegedly doing nothing to halt a 2011 match-fixing scandal while in charge of Siena's soccer team. Judge Pierpaolo Beluzzi said Conte, who will coach Italy's national squad during this year's European Championship before taking up his new post at Chelsea, was acquitted because the accusations of sporting fraud were baseless. Conte, who has already served a ban imposed by the Italian soccer federation (FIGC) in connection with the case, has always denied any wrongdoing. http://www.eurosport.com/football/italy-judge-acquits-future-chelsea-coach-conte-in-match-fixing-case_sto5574223/story.shtml Edited May 16, 201610 yr by Charles Ryder
May 16, 201610 yr Good news, is that all that was hanging over him? That, and the panic he is about to face when he looks at our squad and realises he has the biggest re-building job in the world to complete. The sword of Damocles Abramovich hanging over his head, too.

May 16, 201610 yr I hope he's seen a glimmer of hope, in the garden of Eden. Indeed, especially when he Cesar full-backs and realises perhaps not all hope is lost

May 16, 201610 yr I think Pep has a bigger job to do than Conte atmPep will get ungodly sums of money to improve his already talented squad. We will not have that liberty.
May 16, 201610 yr Pep will get ungodly sums of money to improve his already talented squad. We will not have that liberty. True and the lure of CL football will make it all that easier to get the best of the best while we are left to battle it our for what’s left. That’s the reality but when we choose to abide by FFP and with the new stadium and poor league finish this was always going to be the case. There is still quality out there but we have to be more astute in the market and not bring in pointless signings like Papa and Hector.

United just have to win 19-0 [emoji14]
