Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Featured Replies

Another poor decision by RA/ the Board to not pay the man his due comp,

The legal mateys have ruled in Conte's favour, now CFC must pay the 9mill + probably their's and his legal costs to boot + tons of negative press over the last year or so

The professionalism shown by the club at the board room level is just astounding (paid out 84 mill to prior sacked/ removed managers but then out of the blue just decide to stiff AC), lets not hold our breath over what may be coming up next

Probably because they believed they had a case, which is the rumours are true about him taking three weeks unannounced leave it's not hard to see why.

They wouldn't pay off some epic flops manager's and hold back pay to a title winner just because.

Conte for me is one of the greatest managers we’ve had at Chelsea - Probably the best if it wasn’t for Mourinho.
I’m gutted about how things have worked out, but his attitude regarding not getting what he wants, it stinks.
Good luck to him.
I don't have any problem with his attitude toward our board. If I were in his shoes, I will probably do worse. To be the most consistent team in the EPL from August to May is never an easy task. Non of us know the EXTRA hours he spent in training just to work on each INDIVIDUAL of our average players to motivate and fire them up to deliver that EPL trophy.

Brilliant 1st season but glad he’s gone if I’m honest. Collapsed 2nd season, also some of his signings, what the f**k were they about?! We have a circus of a board but the manager gives his approval to signings and surely he didn’t want Drinkwater etc? Alonso since winning the title, Zappacosta, Bakayoko, Morata all big wastes. It’s telling that Sarri’s signings however have been much better and hasn’t brought in any deadwood. Conte is a great short term manager and I do expect him to do well at Juve or Inter or wherever, just advice them to get rid in 2 seasons before it gets messy!

I take it you haven't seen much of Kovacic and Higuain this season then?

Just now, just said:

Kovacic has been okay, only a loan anyway so he isn’t ‘deadwood’ To me someone like Zappacosta is the definition of a deadwood, cost quite a bit but isn’t good enough and doesn’t play, and would be better off sold. Higuain similar to Kovacic, only a loan and hasn’t been as bad as others think either. People have high expectations due to him being a big name but I think he deserves another year with a pre season to hit the ground running

Personally I don't see any benefit in Higuain hitting the ground but I would certainly welcome a bit of running.

As for Kovacic it wou!d help if he could continually wave his arms above his head when he is on the pitch just to let us know he is still out there. Often we forget.

Following today's episode from Treachery May, I hope they pay Antonio in £sterling and not euros (€10.3m)

Abit odd having Commies leading both the major parties in the UK.

What is funny about that? I’d say it’s a fair evaluation of what Conte done

Did he spend “ extra” hours on the training ground?

Ive no idea; have you?

Collapsed? I wish we collapsed every season and won at least an FA Cup. That would be an acceptable collapse for me.

Says who? How do you know the manager gets the final say? Conte was very, very clear that he didn’t get the targets he wanted. He also openly said he didn’t sanction the sale of Matic either.

You mean Sarri’s first choice signings like Jorginho and Higuain? Two things there. 1. Obviously the first choice signings would be more successful. I’m sure if we got Sandro at LWB/LB he’d be brilliant as well. 2. Sarri’s haven’t been though though are they? Jorginho hasn’t set the world alight but had a good end to the season. Kovacic is a nothing player and Higuain is worse than Morata.

I never understand this obsession with slagging Conte off. He’s a far superior manager to Sarri, as his trophy laden career is testament too.

i hope Sarri is a success here if he stays but the folk taking pot shots at a guy who won two major trophies in two years is quite frankly, embarrassing.

Last season was woeful apart from the FA Cup, I’m not sure how you could’ve enjoyed a season like that. Was the 2nd worst of the RA era for me.

Yes the board are involved aswell but we don’t know who’s the culprit. Conte has also had his players in, like going for a target man all January and then getting Giroud for example

Jorginho has been really good, Higuain is only a loan. How about Kepa? Been brilliant.

Is Sarri a better winner than Conte? No and his trophy record proves that, but he currently suits us a lot better than Conte. If we kept Conte considering all the rifts he had and last season in general apart from the FA Cup, I wouldn’t like to see where we’d be now. Had to go

If he gets the winners medal in a couple of weeks that might change.

Sometimes the first is the most important and then the others come easier.

Conte's primary targets were Sanchez, Brozovic/ Naingollan, Koulibaly/Van diyk, Sandro, Walker. The board failed to land him any of those targets. And now you are blaming him for the signings of the likes Bakayoko, Zapacosta? Very funny to me!

If only we'd signed Sanchez

Honoured to have Contes hype man on the forum. Thanks for the inside info!

Zappacosta was def a Conte signing. Bakayoko was probably a Conte signing too considering he kept playing him.

Anyway, we weren't in the running for koulibali, Van dijk, Sandro, walker, naingollan at any time. That's the entire clubs fault including Conte. When those players hear Chelsea, they thought of either working for a club where we sack the manager every 5 minutes or a club where they would work for Conte. Which would have preferred we correct.

Yeah, I mean, who would want to work for a Manager who wins them trophies and medals.

When the alternative is pep? Walker

When the alternative is playing in a system you like? Oxlade Chamberlain

Are you pointing out that he wanted Bakayoko over Naingollan and Zapacosta over Walker?

Sanchez - Absolute dogsh*t and we'd currently have him sat on £500k a week scoring two goals a season

Brozovic/Naingollan - Neither one wants to leave Seria A, what should we do? Kidnap them and force them to come to England?

Van Dijk - Big mistake missing out on him but £75m for a CB then was huge, not to mention the fact he had his heart set on Liverpool. Not even City could tempt him, how were we meant to?

Sandro - we were quoted £60m for someone Juve now want to offload because he's an issue in the dressing room. Also not had any outstanding seasons since we were in for him.

Walker - Pep wanted him, say no more.

Zappacosta - clearly a Conte signing, why else would we be looking in Serie A?

Bakayoko - Conte said he wanted him in conferences.
